McLaren won the Carling Cup. Big Sam had good League success at Bolton and has done a great job at Blackburn.

The man is deluded.A bit like a Martin Allen of the Premier league.

He has an ego so big it's untrue yet has won few honours or friends.His sides play crap football.Long ball,physical and ugly on the eye.Not a good advert for the English game and got well found out at Newcastle in his time there.

Nothing wrong having having a go at Arsey Whinger who spends most of the time gobbing off about his players being tackled, but fails to see it when his players scythe down the opposition.

3 losses in a row then a draw in the cup, 3 days later he's gone. At the moment, Everton have 2 points from a potential 12 and Stoke have 4 from a potential 15. I don't think either team for one minute are worried or baying for the blood of their manager.

Allardyce's Newcastle went the 5 first games unbeaten, and 2 of the 3 games he lost in a row were to Chelsea and City. The game after he left, Newcastle got spanked for 6. Yes his football wasn't pretty, but (imho) the arrogance of Newcastle fans demanded a better-quality of football than the club deserved, especially during the turbulent times they were going through.

It is well documented that Newcastle have a disgraceful rate of turnover in managers. I think Allardyce was the 8th or 9th premiership manager to go by the time he left. He came at an unfortunate time when the egotistical Mike Ashley took over the club and had to quickly adapt to a volatile and almost unmanageable situation behind the scenes of the club.

I do not particularly like Allardyce, but I will stand up for what I think is right; it is not a 'one-man crusade' that you have wrongly pointed out :sorted:

Correct. It is my belief that they would never have gone down if Allardyce had time to get his players in. IIRC after Souness was sacked it went Roeder, Big Sam, Keegan, Kinnear, Hughton, Shearer between 2006 and 2009.

Did Mourinho's sides play brilliant football?

Im not defending him, I think he is an average manager. If ANY Englishman in 2 years time is to take the managers role then there is only one man - Harry Redknapp.. He has done well at all the clubs he has been at. May not be league titles etc in his name but he has at least got domestic cups in his pocket..

My view too. His sides are normally awful to watch, but if I followed a team fighting Prem relegation, I wouldn't mind him being in charge to keep us up. I wouldn't be surprised to see him at West Ham next month as Grant must be on borrowed time

Rumour on R5 this morning that Blackburn are considering Maradona. Would get them (a) a lot of publicity, (b) probable relegation

Yeah he did a good job in keeping them up but that doesn't mean he deserves to inflict the blackburn fans with type of football he plays for the next few years. Look at Bolton since Coyle took over, he's completely changed their style of play and they are all the better for it. Good decision by the new owners....as long as they get the right man to take over from him.

Football has gone wrong, too much money and defensive set ups. Set pieces are crucial to these chaps as cheating and all sorts seem to be allowed, blocking keepers and winning cheap free kicks seemed to be Big Sam's blueprint, a cheeky smile and a chew on gum won't be missed after his latest blatant rule bend.

Speaking after his team's 1-0 win over Arsenal which put them top of the Premier League, the Manchester United boss spoke up in defence of Allardyce.

"I've never heard of such a stupid decision in all my life," said Ferguson, a close friend of Allardyce.
