So we lose two midfielders to "long term" injuries and we bring back a trusted player that knows the club, is well liked by the players and happy to be a bit part player in various positions to help out (and we still are in for other players) and people are crying their eyes out because its not Messi or Mbappe.
People need to seriously grow up and put their big boy pants on.
I don't dislike Ghoddos. If he had stayed for another year, that would have been fine, but I wouldn't have expected him to start. What makes this totally underwhelming is:The problem in this whole sorry situation is Matthew Benham who for the first time in my memory did something crass, thoughtless and stupid by raising everyone’s expectations with his post.
Saman has understandably suffered from the backlash and what is, given the circumstances, a sensible move is now being castigated and Ghoddos vilified.
Not clever Mr Benham.
a) a player we all know isn't going to improve us (why else did we get rid) has been recalled. Doesn't say much for our recruitment or B team.
b) Putting a clue on here about a new signing and Banana helping to fan the flames of a really big signing was only going to end badly, if indeed, that was the intended clue.
Collectively, we're all at fault for getting into a frenzy and excited, but that excitement needn't have been allowed to get out of control without the original post and plenty of encouragement. After the Jo Jo debacle, I really thought this was a genuine clue for an exciting signing. Now he's signed, the more the clue fits and it makes sense there have been no media links about other signings. It really would have been better to post nothing - pages of crap on the Johnson & Gonzalez thread was better than this deflation.
And none of this is Ghoddos's fault. He will do his best for us, but has been made a bit of a scapegoat. He's also had no pre-season. We really do need to get someone else of quality in - it looks like Johnson or bust.
