I enjoy reading the GPG for the diverse opinions, some I agree with others I don’t, but at present it makes such gloomy reading that I thought I put the Samaritans number: 116123 as it seems a number of fans might need to phone them.
the list of complaints currently on the GPG is phenomenal and whilst some are fully justified others quite frankly leave me wondering about people’s expectations!!!
the ticketing website I will concede is a major failure however i doubt anyone really knew how much of a problem it was as for the past 18 months it had not been used and I doubt with limited staff resources anybody at the club expected the sort of problems it has created. From the Varney email and the work of BIAS we now know the club are aware and hopefully will work on systems to get it sorted. For ST holders moving forward it is not an issue as they have their seats so hopefully a fix can be installed for members to get tickets as the opportunity arises. These first 2 games are outside the norm with everyone trying to get their own seats and for others.
it is not a good start to life in the top division and I am sure that MB is underwhelmed however let’s see if it can be fixed.
however the list of complaints is remarkably long and I have jotted down just a few: The club shop, location and prices and stock. The Atmosphere. Lack of Burgers and or chips. Signage and choices for food and drink. Beer to cold. No sit down meal. Delays when scanning ( despite people being asked to arrive early) ST not yet received ( despite being advised would be sent out in August). Getting wet if it rains. Lack of places to put drinks. Phones not answered. Poor or no coffee and having cashless payments.
on top of that it has already been established on here that certain players are just not good enough and need to be shipped out so I hope the DoF’s are ardent readers so they will know which ones to get rid of !!!!!!!
now I am sure that discounting the ticketing website, some of the complaints in the eyes of the originators are very important, one poster even indicated that it would be enough to consider not returning!!!! However we seem to have morphed into the standard Premier League fan whose demands must be met both on and off the field and if not why not.
Couple of years ago we were at GP with no facilities up to our ankles in piss getting wet in inclement weather sun in the eyes on Ealing Road and often with no real atmosphere. I would not wish to go back but really some of the complaining is downright pathetic and perhaps Sky and BT will be a better option??!!
the club has made mistakes some of which could/ should have been rectified sooner however personally I would cut them some slack as I seem to recall that during the height of the pandemic a number of staff were put on furlough which will have set plans back significantly.
we have a wonderful stadium worthy of the league we are in and yes have a ticketing site worthy of the Northern Premier. In a couple of weeks we start life in the top division of English football where I am sure we will hold our own. Let’s just for a while enjoy the positives that such success brings and worry about such things as coffee when we are fully established in our new home.
For those that can’t and for whom some minor issues might be seen as a disaster the Samaritans number is at the top
having got that rant off my mind I will return to my bunker and accept all the abuse that is probably coming my way???
