Oh dear......I can't do right for doing wrong.

I was responding to a post that said the match was only watched by 4,308 Bees. I said it was less than that because eight hundred season ticket holders didn't show.

I don't have a problem with that and I think most of us recognise that season ticket holders miss games. You need to read my post again in the context that it was written.

In one sense (financial) the no-show ST holders may be the least of our problems - at least they've put the money up front, so if they fancy a day out in country or whatever, that's their choice... they missed a great game Saturday though.

I think we've done to death on the GPG the topic of cutting general admission prices, and we have at least kept them constant for 3 (or 4?) years.

Perhaps we do however need to look at some of the concessionary prices for teenagers - I don't have any family in that age group, so have no axe to grind, but if we get a kid's interest pre-teens, we don't want to then price them out of the habit a few years later

Great news, my lad has agreed to miss Bristol and Yeovil and do a home and an away with his Cobblers mates. He said it will be strange as he doesn't like the team but hopefully the "with the mates" stuff will swing it for him.
He's Brentford thru and thru and will be back when he can afford it.

Thank goodness for that, that will at least stop your spamming at least three threads now.

It is always somethng that happens when a team has nothing to play for. I said at the beginning of this season that our average crowd will be no better than last seasons and probably worse if we are in a relegation fight and possibly even greater loss if we are mid table. Crowds come in when you are in the mix for play offs. Sad but true, some will only come to a game if they think there is something to get excited about.
Worrying trend is the no show ST holders, many I suspect are juniors who have decided that the end of season glory is not there and so why miss out on an afaternoon down the shopping centre with their mates.

I think Easter was a major factor re Season Ticket no shows and also had an impact on the pay on the day spectators too. There were a number of adult season ticket no shows around me who are normally there week in week out. One was my mate and his son who were not at the game due to it being his son's birthday and the family all went out for the day. I don't know what the average season ticket no show numbers are like but I would have thought 800 is way above average and must be down to the number of people away on Easter hol's.

I do accept that pay on the day has been dissapointing this season and I am personally in the camp that this is mainly down to having an average kind of season, certainly from a more casual supporter's perspective.

From what I have read though I do feel we need to get the pricing right for the young men categorey as even if they are working at 16 or 17 they are often in low paid jobs. I agree with the poster who suggested the OAP price shouldn't kick in until age 65, and as a result improve the pricing for the 16-18year olds, possibly even stretching this improved pricing for this categorey from 16-21, as many young men don't start earning what would be considered half decent money until they reach the age of 21. If this five year concession is offset by 60-65 year olds paying full price then I am sure the cost would be neutral.

My father is 64 and still working, retiring at 65 and he could easily afford full adult prices until his retirement.

Just conducting traffic, you have passed your 2nd round interview for suitability for being on the BU board. We really do need some people on there with a clue.

Not saying you're wrong to raise an issue, just don't spread it all over every ****ing thread!

When I started going in the 80s we got 5000 odd. I do not think our support has really dwindled. However we have not moved forwards and that is the worrying thing.

Football league attendances are at their highest level since the 1950s and the majority of Championship teams average 3 times or more than us.

It is time to face facts that we are now at the right level for our football club. That does not mean that we cannot be over achievers and maybe grab the odd play off place, perhaps even get to the championship at some stage, but to establish ourselves in the Championship is a big big ask.

The danger as always is that we get ourselves in more financial trouble trying and this must be avoided. It seems that abee etc are our most sensible custodians weve had for a while so hopefully not going to be the case.

It is great that Mathew Benham is putting in so much of his own money but that is to safeguard our financial future rather than spending loads on players.

Long term we need to increase our fan base, maybe more free tickets for schoolkids etc.
They will not come on their own free will like they did years ago. Its too easy to stay at home and watch Man U on telly.

We also need to concentrate on youth player development and scouting networks.

I agree, BFC should be doshing kids tickets to schools and clubs in Ealing, Hillingdon and Hounslow.

The Mathew Benham money is for new players and paying for loan players etc.

what about a last 3 game special £50 for 3 ER tickets for adults?

Saturday's crowd (split thread)

OK hornets nest, whilst its ok to up admission prices and charge youngsters in the paddock more dough whilst other seats are cheaper else where in the ground. So a seat in the paddock for a non s/t is 22 quid why do you discount season tickets for approx 17 quid a match????? yes i know the old spill about paying there money up front is helping the club, but surely with a recession still biting surely this practise should bee stopped and everybody pays 22 quid a seat hard helmet being worn ready for flack :fishing::fishing:

Just to clarify, are you advocating season tickets being charged at the same price as it'd cost you to pay on the day i.e £22 per game or am I just completely misunderstanding ?

Saturday's crowd (split thread)

Its been mentioned before and no one really seems to agree but i cant see how not selling student tickets on the day for the Braemar road benefits the club and im convinced it only makes it harder for fans to attend games.

Saturday's crowd (split thread)

I live up in sheffield (I know I know) but go to about 1 in every 2/3 home games. I couldnt care less who we're playing when im back on the 24th (yeovil) because I just want to see the bees when I'm back home. I understand though for locals yeah its not a big game hence why the low crowds.

However what I wanted to point out is £109 for ER student ticket!!!! Thats bargain of the century! Ok ok I'm a student don't all go mad but considering that a tvu student could attend all 23 games thats not even a fiver a game!! Hell I'll get one as I'll go to atleast half next year!

Surely though if I'm honest thats a bit wrong? I mean students are skint but we're not that skint. Who priced that up? I'm not complaining obviously but just being honest I think its too low.

whats hard to understand owlsmoor that non season ticket fans are subsidising season ticket holders every game ?????ie 17quid against 22 when the club needs all the money it can raise ????or no family tickets in the paddock but elsewhere in the ground freely available :nono::nono:
ps fencer changed ends at half time and saw all the goals up the ealing rd end who was a lucky bunny then lollollol

Well that's absolutely ridiculous. What on earth would be the point of buying a season ticket if you weren't saving money ??? In case it had escaped your notice, we're not alone in this practice you know. And how would the club's cashflow cope during the close season without the money generated from Season Ticket Sales ? If it worked out the same as paying on the day, how many would bother buying one ??

I'm sorry, but I have no idea what fiscal reasoning you've based your suggestion on.

Well the club won't see it like that, not just our club but all football clubs. Bfc pick up the money from s/t holders during the close season where bills still have to be paid.So it benefits all, from my own point of veiw I will miss 4 or 5 games, so it does not benefit me. The way it is easier for me is to pay at the gate + the cost of petrol I'm talking£60 per game so geting a s/ t softens the blow.

How much do we make from kids walk up tickets abee? Would it be too much of a sacrifice?

Any idea abee?

not sure what gives you the impression i am taking the piss?!!

if we have 5000 empty seats we should give out 5000 free tickets imo. if 2000of these turn up maybe 200 will come again and pay to get in in the future.

:love2:

Your previous 8,300 posts maybe!! :D

:) Although with my sense of timing I will have responded to the one that was trying to make a serious point. Not sure I can cope with the new ISB.

Prices can be argued either way but may l ask how many times Griffin Park has been open to paying customers last year?

It's our biggest asset ( despite what the books may say ) and needs to work harder than ever.
May l suggest......in the closed season, we could

1 x Meet the players session + keepy uppy players v fans v local footy teams v sponsors competition participation

1 x Pre season training drills + fan / sponsor competition participation

1 x Open penalty competition Bees management & directors v fans v sponsors

Get the back of the nets sponsored

Anytime of the season but preferably the start we could......

Sell a documentary angle to Channel 4 on the GPG and some of the most compelling organisers / contributors during match days......perhaps called BEES BEERS AND FEARS for the new season.

Matthew Benham / and dragon Theo Paphities documentary on the odds of Bees and Milwall in the Championship and solvent at the same time.

Let's just try and be different at raising our profile and our revenues and maybe we can soften the ticket price debate
