Scott Marshall

Contract offer withdrawn as was Jamie Fullarton's.

That mean 2 x £500 saved on these guys so surely we can increase the offer to Hunty now??

Always a steady performer but a lack of pace was the only shortcoming as he could read a game as well as anyone in our division.

Nice bloke and good luck for the future.

Scott Marshall

Decent defender and by all accounts good guy. But with the glut of young defenders in the ranks that can do what he does, only cheaper and better, it was time.

NOW!...as said, surely there is money for Hunt to stay and lead our promotion charge. C'mon Brentford, it's the right thing to do and sends a message to others thinking of coming. Please.

Scott Marshall

is this definate?cant see anything on official site.i hoped hed sign.

Scott Marshall

I would imagine that both contract offers were in excess of £500, particularly given what Marshall was earning before.

What we could do with is these 2 Premiership loan players plus Hunt re-signing without signing anyone else permanently for the time being and save on the wages.

Scott Marshall

What did Ron ever see in him? £250k down the drain plus wages:nono:

No loss to the side:wave:

Correct  If we do run in to problems, there'll be loan players etc available. Nice bloke Marshall by all accounts but never impressed me on the pitch at all.

Best Wishes

I met Scott a couple of times and found him to be a gent. He certainly had his deficiencies but it was not hs fault that someone offered him a contract we couldnt afford

Like to wish him well, but as has been already said - we have younger and better now.

Oh yeah - good to see Mark has updated the player list on the official site. C'mon get Scotty off and we can start worrying about having only 19 pros:D

Scott Marshall

funnily enough I never rated him until he came back from injury this year, thought he did alright this season & kinda hoped he'd see sense & sign some piddly little contract to stay, can't see many other clubs'll be clamouring to pay him massive wages.

Scott Marshall

weve only got two centre backs at the club now!why did we release him?

He wouldn't sign for what we could afford to pay him. Frampton and Somner will have to fill in.

Scott Marshall

imagine where wed of been last season when roget was injured if there was no marshall!

We still had other cover e.g. Frampton.

Marshall "wasn't all that" !

Um, we'd have got someone in on loan.

Marshall was sub-standard, over-paid and cost one large transfer fee for a club our size. Not his fault, but it makes me angry. :(

Scott Marshall

Am glad...

as I have said on a previous thread if we can get Ivar back on loan to put beside sonko we will have a strong defence...won't concede much next season!

Then bring in a good CM in on loan to shore up that department.

If we then use all the available wage dosh on an experienced, proven striker to play alongside Peters....plus sorting out the Hunt situation...then we could be onto a bit of a winner here!:D :D :D :D  :D :D :D

Scott Marshall

75 appearances at an initial cost of 250,000 plus a 150000 per annum salary stretched over four seasons. That's a grand total of £11333 per game!!

Scott Marshall

Gone, history, time to move on.

Ivar on loan?
Gibbo back!?
More for Hunty?

So many questions, but a little more money now available with Marshall and Fullarton gone, at least gives us some options.

Scott Marshall

The defence is not our weak area - Sonko, Roget, Dobbo, Fieldwick, Somner, Frampton. Most can play in the centre. Plus Jay Smith used to play there.

It's creative players and those that put the ball in the net we should be worried about.

Decent guy but Marshall was too slow and too often caught out.

I suggested that on the 'Hunty to Brighton' thread...please say it could now be a reality?!!

At last it's great to be able to say...

Bye, bye Marshall!

Bye, bye Fullarton!

Scott Marshall

I am slightly disappointed we didn't get him to sign a contract on vastly reduced terms but I also accpet that if Sonko and Roget stay fit then we really don't need him.

When he was fully it he was an asset to our team but that didn't happen often enough.

I wish him all the best as it wasn't his fault that he was signed for £250k and paid too much money, lets hope we can invest the saving sensibly.

I can see the reasoning in freeing up money for more "worthy" causes, but I still thought Marshy was an asset to us rather than a waste of time. Sorry to see him go and I wish him well in the future. :(

Bees Scots Purge continues :D

Scott Marshall

Oooops - just been slapped by the future Mrs BoroBee who is scotch .... sorry, sorry SCOTTISH!

p.s. she's just bought her first Bees season ticket so I must be doing something right in her conversion to civilisation. :D

Scott Marshall

Not bothered by Marshall's departure. Considering what he was on, it is no surprise that he thinks he can do better. Thankfully, I think that we can too.

Scott Marshall

Although Marshall was pretty average last season, he is one of those players who you need to bulk up the squad. It's all very well saying that we will get a decent loanee, but we're hardly an attractive proposition at the moment are we?

At least now we will have a centre back who can win more than two headers per game

Scott Marshall

An able squad player but no more, I think he would have been behind Sonko and Roget in the pecking order so maybe that's why he went as well as wages.

Anyway we have Frampton and Somner as very able backup in that position.

Scott Marshall

I've seen a tortouise go faster

Hes gone?.......

........Thank f|_|ck for that

Scott Marshall

Sorry to see him go. Thought him and Sonko were our best pairing at centre-back. Like to see Frampton given a go.

Scott Marshall

Now all we have to do is get rid of Hunt, hey debbee! lol

Scott Marshall

leave it !

Leave her alone Sweepy, have you seen that ad for Rampant Rabbits made in Ireland ?

Scott Marshall

the only time ive seen frampton play centre back was plymouth away.he had an awful game that day.i seem to remember him playing there when he made his debut as a sub as well.

Yeah Somner could have played centre back and Frampton taken over at left back - what a disaster eh!!! rofl ;)

Good luck to the bloke, that attempted tackle at Bournemouth will stay with me for many a year lol

I have to say I agree. Sonko's class, and pace, with Marshall's experience was a hell of a combination.

That was after he had played there at Luton and been superb. Every man was awful at Plymouth so I wouldn't take that as a definite guide.

Sorry AJ but that Bournemouth comment is a bit harsh. That was 110 odd minutes into his first game for 18+ months and after Chorley had been taken off because he was worse.

I still think he could have done a job for us this year, but if he doesn't want to play for us he can **** off.

I was only messin!!!! It was a superb performance considering the extra time but that tackle was comical! The ref had no cards tho, so I guess it was a superb attempt by Scott :) I agree that he was a good player, it was just unfortunate that he was on such scandalous money and sat on the recovery bench so much.

Out of interest, did we ever play 3 central defenders in 5 at the back (added to avoid Somner jokes!) again after that game? N was anything ever mentioned about Prosser's ability to award so many penalties without showing a card?

I still reckon that was one of the best games last season, it had nearly everything!

We played Roget, Sonko and Marshall together against Burnley and played 5 at the back at various points last season, Stockport away, Oldham away. Just can't remember all of them.
