Scrapping Draws !!

Scrapping Draws !!

They have a similar thing in the NHL over here, whereby at the advent of tie there is a shoot out to see who takes maximum points. The losing team in the shoot out does actually get 1 point though, as recognition of not getting beat in regulation time/overtime.

Makes sense I suppose, although it does give a really 'unstable' look to the tables as they have columns for wins, losses and overtime losses (which can be in played overtime or the shoot out)

Stick with the draw !!

Scrapping Draws !!

Did fans actually fill in a survey and agree with this sort of proposal? :suspect:

Scrapping Draws !!

****ing stupid idea.... USA soccer idea :(

Scrapping Draws !!

Music after goals, players booked for celebrating scoring, video refs not far off and now this. I remember when football was fun

Scrapping Draws !!

You go 2-0 down away from home, pull one back in the last 20 minutes, keep attacking and go radio rental when you get an equaliser four minutes into injury time only to be rewarded with defeat in a dribbling contest.

**** off you bunch of idiots.

Scrapping Draws !!

Asked about this question in the football league survey last month... voted against, although I put not sure about whether it would increase the general excitement... because for the general public it would in a way.......? I'm against it anyhow.

Scrapping Draws !!

Sort of stupid thing Blatter would dream up...but the FL!!!!

Scrapping Draws !!

It's the last game of the season, team A plays team B both are on equal points but team A has a superior goal diff (by +12 shall we say). Both are going for the last promotion place. After 90 mins it's 0-0. Team B win the pen shoot out 5-4 and are promoted. Unless I've missed something, something's not right here, after all it's not a KO comp but a comp lasting 46 matches and decided on a fecking American razz-ma-tazz shoot out on the last day of the season.

Has April the 1st come early? If this was to happen,I for one would never bother watching a game again.

Scrapping Draws !!

I heard on 5live that if a team wins the penalty shoot out they get 2 points and the losing team gets 1 point...??

If you lose one of those at Ninian Park or the Galpharm, quickly run back to the car.

Scrapping Draws !!

MLS got rid of the shoot out a few years back - even they realized it was ridiculous.

Then that tells you the Football League is run by ****ing cocks........

Scrapping Draws !!

Who on earth would say that it would be a good idea to scrap draws?

Not a single person I know would, and surely no self-respecting football supporter would, which leads me to believe that either they've ignored the wishes of the fans who turn up week in, week out in favour of the armchair supporters, or that they've just made it up themselves!

Fans survey my arse!

Who's to say it would make the game more interesting anyway? I think it's more likely that some teams would play more defensively in hope of grinding out a boring 0-0 draw because they know they've got good penalty takers.

Leave the f***ing game alone! :mad1:

Scrapping Draws !!

why not just get rid of the whole match and toss a coin?! ;)

Great idea!

Can you imagine the tension as the ref gets ready to flick his fingers with the captains standing nervously either side of him....!?!

Maybe also with cheerleaders dancing around Matthew Lorenzo as he does the pre-toss build up  The local Mayor can come out and parade the coin around the ground with a very smug look on his face.

Perhaps have various points systems depending on wind direction and speed.

I'm sure we could drag it out to a good hour and a half, maybe two hours, charge people £50 for the priveledge of watching this momentous ceremony and I think we're onto a winner!

Scrapping Draws !!

Is it April Fools day already.......... this idea must be a complete joke...... right?

Scrapping Draws !!

We've seen what happens in Europe and the World Cup.

One - or both teams defend for 90 minutes hoping to win on penalties.

So, when they're trying to encourage open, attacking soccer, why on earth even discuss this.

For God's sake, why not have all the fans down on their hands and knees playing Subbuteo. And no thumby-flickies. The team that wins more games gets the points.

At least that's got more to do with football than the no draw proposal.

Scrapping Draws !!

So you can struggle against relegation now by drawing all your games, but with this idea you could have 92 points in the bag!
Cracking idea - not!

I heard only two other countries had this, USA and Japan i think, and they both scrapped it because the fans wanted the game to be the same as the rest of the world.

A good reason why it should be considered:wave:

Your losing team in the new proposal I read would get the same number of points, one, as it does today in a draw. Only the winning team would gain by getting two points (one point more than the loser) but not the three points earned by a regular time winner.

The main issue is whether that would result in more entertaining football with clubs trying harder to score instead of shutting up shop to preserve a draw.
