Second Round LIVE on BBC1

Just been told from my mate who is at Hinckley that BBC 2 are showing the second round tie LIVE!!

Can anyone confirm this?

yeah but it doesnt bother them weather its bristol OR brentford.... pretty much the same league position, obviously they would prefer the big team.. but I guess the Robins may have something to say about that :shrug:

We lost the Oldham game on pens, when we had a chance of playing Chelsea in R3.
But we did beat Cambridge 1-0, Folan from the half way line

I'm sure they'd prefer us. Brizzle have the money but Salako, Burton and MA himself are much bigger names than those that Brizzle have.

Nice to see I've had a rumour confirmed for a change!!

Will play havoc with our Promotion push though, Hull away 36 hours later and Luton Home 48 hours later?

I can remember us being o MOD so many years ago when it was on BBC 2
but live I can only think of a floodlight friendly (when fllodlight were new) back in the 50s

I think this would not only be our first live game on the BBC, but also effectively the first time we have ever been properly 'live' to the whole nation - previous matches have either been on cable/satellite channels with limited potential audiences, or on LWT only. It would therefore be the largest ever audience to watch the Bees.

Except of course that 30 years of last hurdle failures mean that I've got no expectation of it being anything other than Hinckley v Bristol City :(

At least we won't have the likes of Robert Quinn to spoil things :mad: this time (like when we lost on penalties to Oldham, which cost us a place in the 3rd Rd against Chelsea)....I'll never forget the silly smirk on his face when he missed his penalty and I knew our dream was over. :sad: I wanted to give him a slap! :mad2:

I'm really excited too @ the possibility of The Bees being LIVE on BBC1. :bound:

Lets be realistic it would be fantastic if we beat Bristol and Hinkley and the advantages to our somewhat deleted coffers would be tremendous. However even if we lose against Bristol that is still a sum in excess of £75k which equates to wages of around £2500 per week for a striker for the remainder of the season.

being pedantic here but i think the largest live audience was the friendly game v india a couple of years ago. some ridiculous number of millions (and we won 3-0)

Has anyone else seen how Charlton have tapped into the South African market since they have signed Mark Fish??

As a mate of mine, who lives in Hinckley, knows the chairman of Hinckley United then, should we get past the carrot crunchers, he is going to tap him up to sort out some "corporate entertainment" for us. However, I understand this comprises of a rotting portakabin in the car park so I'm not getting too excited.

I shall be in Tenerife that weekend celebrating my 50th birthday. The last time I was in Hinckley was nearly a quarter of a century ago when I was best man at Nigel Brooks's wedding. Trouble is, this is Brentford, and we have an unlimited capacity to bollix things up. Still I hope to be watching it on cable in a nice bar in Los Cristianos.

Just found out from Fox Sports that this match is on live in California and presumably in the rest of the USA as well,great coverage for the Bees and my first chance to see a full Brentford match since I was at Griffin Park for the Wigan game in November 2002.Really looking forward to this and hopefully progress to the second round.
