I agree but if they start hemorrhaging sponsors and UEFA threaten to break away or boycott Qatar, he won't be able to continue imo.

I would like to understand the laws that govern FIFA. They don't have any regulators like a bank to enforce any compliance issues. They must have an annual turnover of a small country but they don't seem to have to comply to any regulations or audit requirements.

I think that nicely sums up why he will get voted into another term. We, as in the U.S, Northern Europe, Oz and ourselves are in the minority regarding bribery/corruption/fiddling the system and even then it still goes on, like MP's expenses.

I do think however that the arrested FIFA execs will start spilling the beans in order to minimise potential sentences to themselves. We will then start seeing the FBI/Swiss Investigations net close in on Blatter. These sort of people only get to where they have by climbing over / shafting others to get to the top anyway and will do anything to protect themselves.

It won't be enough for UEFA to threaten to walk away, they would to have to actually do it.

I believe something like 90% of FIFA's revenue comes from the World Cup in the form of sponsorship deals and TV rights.

The problem is if Coca Cola pulled out, Pepsi will come in, McDonalds would be replaced by Burger King, Hyundai will be replaced by Dacia (or whoever), Budweiser would be replaced by Heineken (or whoever).

Yes, this has always been behind Blatter's confidence. It looks increasingly like the only way to get rid of him is for him to be criminally indicted by the Americans or even better the Swiss.

Does Aruba get the same weight as England on the voting? I think so and if so that's another joke

lol Oh come on....................... I very much doubt that there has been that much grass-roots investment when you consider the money that FIFA brings in?? They all love him over there for other reasons. The big wigs in Africa etc may love him but i would love to hear what the average football fan thinks.

Its great to see that the 40 years of investment at grass-roots has also paid off at international level rofl :banghead:

The only thing UEFA and other teams can do is pull out of Russia, Qatar etc.............. But the one reason they wont is that hes still in power, and the other is....................................................... ££££££££ :wave:

For all their faults at Governance level FIFA invests quite a lot in real grass roots facilities etc. in developing and other nations to around £300m a year and more I believe. Not saying they couldn't invest more of their sizable sums and no doubting Blatter has built his power base around this type of funding and it would not surprise anyone if some of this got siphoned out along the way but it is a key reason all these countries support him and view him very differently to how the Europeans and a few others do.

Frankly I can't see much changing, he is there another four years ( at least) with a sizable majority still and for all this talk of UEFA pulling out I can't see it happening. FIFA I am sure has many strings to pull to prevent this happening and will be shaping their tactics and legal approaches already no doubt. The best hope is that the criminal proceedings go deeper into the organisation up to Batter's level but something says he is too clever to get caught out that easily.

Unfortunately 90% of the money doesn't get to grass roots, it gets siphoned off into dodgy accounts. Jack Warner had it all going into a sports company he owned and they were selling on the match tickets and 100% times face value.
Europe has less than 25% of the votes so blatter has gone around dishing cash to all the corrupt countries in the world to buy their votes. That is how he has stayed in power. England has nearly 100 pro teams, even non league teams get thousands of fans. The rest of the world can only manage a few thousand for their lower placed premier league clubs. No wonder the power base used to be i Europe, it is where the best leagues are , the most fans attend and the most revenue is raised. It is laughable that countries like malta or the cayman islands have the same vote as we do in Europe. I am not necessarily saying that elitism is the way forward, but by surrounding himself with executives of non footballing nations through bribery to stay in power needs to be destroyed and the thieves and leaders of this organised crime and money laundering syndicate need to be jailed.

A vote for the world cup should be open and fair, this is one of the world biggest organisations and should not be run by crooks, criminals, dictators, thieves and people who live on desert Islands that don't have a football pitch.

Do we honestly believe the corruption and bribery stops at the voting stage? How the hell did an appalling Brasil side get to the semi final of the WC and how did Korea get to the semi's? The whole things stinks. To keep the host nation in is vital to fifa to keep the money flooding in for the whole 5 weeks, it is not real.

I think UEFA has to do something now. They are quite rightly, disgusted with Sepp, and dont want anything to do with him. UEFA cannot spend the next 4 years just spouting off like they have done. There is much talk about leaving FIFA. Now they have to. If they dont, and submit to Blatter then it will be the likes of Platini and Dyke who will lose out big time with Blatter clearly winning the war as nothing would have changed.

So how could UEFA play this? My radical idea which no one will like!! is that UEFA pull out and in 2018 and have an extended Champions League and have a summer tournament of the final 16 clubs in direct competition to the World Cup. All the best players in the world would end up playing in the Champions League rather than the World Cup. Russia will win the World Cup, and the World Cup runs at a huge financial loss. Something like that could kill off FIFA for good.

UEFA need to to show some bolo. Boycott the World Cup and arrange another Euro Championship to co incide, us or Allemagne could cope.
World Cup without Europe, f*** Russia they're f****d, it's a crime that the Southern Hemisphere has more or less endorsed corruption as normal practise if it gives us an in.

I am not that confident that UEFA will come through with anything in the end apart from making some soft anti-FIFA sound bites. It is worth remembering that Platini was supporting the Qatar bid for 2022.

The best way to pull the plug from FIFA would be for the top European sides to go off and form their own league that is not linked to FIFA/UEFA. Three regional leagues of 12 teams that lead into an end of season play-off could be a massive event every season. As long as it still had some form of relegation I would support this.

UEFA is in a difficult position now, having set out their opposition they need to show some force or their position in FIFA is weakened. Platini has the look of a loser than a force for change and how clean is he? Gill resigning from the FIFA executive committee will just be met with a "so what" from the rest of them.

And how together is UEFA on all this? The next week will see if there is real push for change or just empty gestures.

The FAs need to man up, as do the sponsors.

Bloater had over 70 votes against him. If those 70+ FAs boycotted the World Cup, it would cause a bigger shockwave. It wouldn't have the major European countries there, along with Australia and America. TV revenue would be massivly reduced as would sponsorship.

Not always wholey practicle, but a boycott of FIFA sponsors? At the moment, they're sabre rattling, they need to be presured into action!

Eufa= platini. The same man who for some inexplicable reason voted for Quatar.....hmmmmm spooky. The same man who accused the BBC of sour grapes when panorama submitted evidence of corruption and denied it, the same man who in my opinion is up to his arse in it as well.

And walk away from the lovely free golden watches, the lovely Rolex dyke didn't want to return. Far too much FA revenue comes from this whole organisation, we play the moral high ground but we have just as many leeches who are quite happy to see the $$$ flooding in to their coffers.

No chance of UEFA boycotting the World Cup with up to 18 nations believed to have voted for Blatter including Turkey, Cyprus, Finland, as well as the obvious France, Spain and Russia. Seems like economic considerations are more important than getting rid of corruption . Really can't see Platini surviving this, his own nation has undermined him.
