Shaleum Logan

Well Shay has gone to Aberdeen. Confirmed officially.

Thanks for great service Shay

Shaleum Logan

Sad to see him go, good player at League 1 level. Hope the arsenal kid is good enough!

Shaleum Logan

Reading MW's comments, it seems there was no chance of him being offered another contract. Even with our signing of Yennaris, I would have thought we were a bit light on experienced defenders, if we have another couple of injuries. Recall clause??

Shaleum Logan

I'm shocked to be honest. Very, very surprised that he's been let go.

Shaleum Logan

.............good luck to him..............a very good player............

Shaleum Logan

A good player. Can play RB and LB as shown against Chelsea. Might be signing a younger replacement or he simply wasn't going to extend his contract with us after it expired in the Summer. Let's hope Yennaris can step up to plate.

Shaleum Logan

Shame, really good player who I think would manage at a higher level, as was proved by his performance v Chelsea.
Good luck to him.

Shaleum Logan

always liked him....very decent footballer and a good lad....i think we'll miss him to be honest, not sure about this decision :(

good luck up in the land of the worried sheep though lol

Shaleum Logan

Hope this doesn't upset the rest of the squad.

Shaleum Logan

Best of luck Shay, did a good job for us and contributed to the progress made in the first team.

Would suggest MW has more up his sleeve in terms of replacements as can't see him relying on untried youngster at this stage

Shaleum Logan

Shaleum Logan

That's sh*t, letting one of our more senior players leave at this point in the season! Get rid of Barron if we need to free wages up! Shay was quality, a decent player who can play right or left back! Who's our cover for left back now? And not Craig because he'd be missed at centre back and isn't attacking enough

Shaleum Logan

Been to aberdeen twice. Had a ball both times. Friendly folk

Shaleum Logan

Don't get it....Yennaris is unproven, McCormack should be in midfield. Poor decision to let him go.

Best attacking full back i have seen at Brentford, has played well since he got back in the team.

Shaleum Logan

So am I. We're not talking about a bit part player who's hardly featured, and Shay is a very, very capable RB who has been unlucky that Mac has proved to be the best RB (IMO) we've had for years. Even if we were to be promoted this year, I'd still see Shay as good enough to form part of next srason's squad.

I asume this either means that the Arsenal lad is very, very capable or that Warbs sees Mac reverting to RB once our midfield options are restored ?

Shaleum Logan

Why is everyone accusing the club. Logan is out of contract in the summer and is obviously not in our plans. With Forshaw back soon McCormack could well be back at right back meaning Shay gets less and less game time, therefore hampering his chances of a contract in the summer.

Thanks Shay, for your never say die performances. Good luck in the future

Shaleum Logan

Shame. A very good player. Will miss tooshay's comments too (though maybe she'd like to make the occasional passing visit, passing on news of her nephew).

He'd have to. Warbs wants Forshaw, Douglas and Saville as his midfield three meaning McCormack at right back

Shaleum Logan

In Mark Warburton I trust .... Best of luck to Shay. He did have a tendendcy to make some mistakes and earlier in the season I can think of about three off the top of my head. Anyway, in my view the club and it's players, just gets stronger and stronger. Move on.

Shaleum Logan

So sorry to see Shay go. He has been a top player for the club. Must say i am surprised, but who knows the other side of it, he my have got fed up with London , who knows? Thans for all that you have done Shay.

Shaleum Logan

:nono: not happy with this one bit

Shaleum Logan

As has been said many times before about players - we do not know what happens on a day to day basis at the training ground and we do not know if any individual player has any other off the field issues.

In Warbs I trust.

I hope Shay settles in Aberdeen - it is a good city - and it will give him the chance to play more regularly.

Shaleum Logan

Good luck Shay..good player for us hope he is remembered if we go up..

Shaleum Logan

Trust the manager-he seems to know what he's doing

well said. Sad to see him go but this is indicative of the bar continuing to be set higher.

I think it could also be a good move for Shay despite what everyone says about the SPL. Joining such a club could result in Cup Finals at Hampden and European football too. Hope he enjoys himself up there.

Shaleum Logan

As he is out of contract in the summer he and his agent can talk to clubs anyway. I'd imagine this is more Shay wanting to secure a future for himself beyond July than of BFC making. Its a job and his future not just a winners medal.

Yes absolutely agreed on this one. IMHO Logan would have the capability to play at Championship level as a right back and possibly a better one than Mac long term. Logan's biggest problems is his lack of concentration and poor decision making, both of which he could improve upon. He has a great engine and his pace is a tremendous plus, he also gets forward well though needs to work on the final ball. I think it is a loss.

Having said all that it is churlish to question Warbs decision given his record. Young Yennaris and Calvert have excellent pedigrees and are obviously seen as the way forward. I wish them and departing Shaleum the best of luck.

Shaleum Logan

I think this statement makes it pretty clear he wasn't going to be offered a new deal, which is a shame really but ultimately we have to trust that the powers that be know what they are doing. So far they don't seem to get much wrong. The fact Nico was brought in a few days ago shows they are thinking a head to next season

“His contract is up in the summer and this is a chance for him to get a bit of personal security.

“This is an opportunity for him to play games in the shop window and look for a contract going forward.

I'd imagine most clubs in our division would have taken him had they known he would be available?

If you had said at the start of the transfer window the only two players from our squad we would lose would be Shay and FAU, then i would have bit your hand off

Shaleum Logan

Pretty definitive statement from club, no pretence that it's a loan or that things might look different at the end of the season or that the youngster might not work out.
Very sorry to see him go like this - just slipping away - he's done a lot for us without being showy.
Good luck Shaleum and thanks for everything.

Ain't over yet

Shaleum Logan

Shame. Always liked him, perhaps a bit suspect at times but easily good enough for the Championship. One of those guys like Sammy and Clayton who deserved to be part of the side who took us up

Shaleum Logan

Excellent going forwards, but his defending has always been a little bit suspect at times. That would be exploited in the Championship most weeks IMO, is a big step up from league1.

Shaleum Logan

Would love to see the stats of Clayton's assists and goals playing in front of Mac vs. Shay. May be an optical illusion, but seems to me that Clayton is more menacing with Mac? I definitely prefer Mac marauding from RB.

Hope Shay does really well up with the real Dons. We've seen a lot worse at full back over the years.

Shaleum Logan

One strange aspect of this move is that Aberdeen have simultaneously loaned Josh Magennis, who has latterly been playing RB, to St.Mirren: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/25967040

Buddies' Manager, Danny Lennon, commented: "We were keen to take him permanently, but [Aberdeen manager] Derek McInnes wasn't keen to let him go, as he thinks the lad has great potential..

Unless McInnes has plans for him to play elsewhere - and Magennis has played several positions in his time, including goalkeeper(!) - that would suggest he wants him back next season.

Which could mean he's not looking to sign Shay permanently, after his Loan is up?

Shaleum Logan

Sad to see him leave, shame he couldn't hold down a place in the team after his great early start. Been a great servant, and dominated Chelsea!
Good luck Shay.

Shaleum Logan

Don't understand why we are giving him away?
Only a few months on his contract but surely worth money?
Good luck Shay

Shaleum Logan

Gutted .. :( I liked shay

Something must of happend maybe he swung for Warbs

Shaleum Logan

Well at least his 'boxing and sparring partner' Farid won't be too far away,

When he joined the Bees I thought he had the potential to be a new Ashley Cole or Kenny Sansom. Haven't changed my mind, really. Sorry to see him go - it does mean we seem to be placing a lot of faith in the new Arsenal lad if MacC gets injured or suspended.

Good luck, Shaleum, and thanks.

Guess so as it is implied in the O/S statement that this is more about putting SL in the "shop window" rather than a loan with a view to a permanent move. Good luck to him, he would get in most League 1 teams IMHO.

Shows where we are at these days. I guess the management have a lot of faith in the new Arsenal youngster and the French lad... sad to see Shay go but all very new Brentford.

If they pay his wages then technically we are getting money for him.

Shaleum Logan

dont know if its been said but this is potentially terrible news as it means Alan Mac may well play most of games at RB as the Arsenal lad isnt proven in our league. ANd dont even say KEv could do a job at RB

Shaleum Logan

Totally agree, this is his third season with us and has been instrumental in getting us to where we are now and how we have progressed. Top quality league one right back, glad he hasn't joined a rival. Fair play to him if he wants first team football and pursue other interests, part and parcel of the modern game, part of me thought he might stay has he had been here so long and we are the closest we've been to promotion so I'm gutted he's gone but have faith and trust in MW and MB.
Met shay on many occasion over the past three seasons, at the training ground / home & away matches, nice guy who always had time for a conversation. Wish him well.

Shaleum Logan

I think quite the opposite, his contract runs out in the summer & MW has given him the opportunity to earn a new contract away from GP, I take that as the management are already planning for the Championship & Shay would at best only have been offered a new deal as a squad player with no guarantees. Good management to be talking at this stage & letting the players know where they stand, surely going into the final run-in not knowing what the future holds would not be good for morale & is more likely to disrupt the team. Before anybody draws a comparison with Clayton's contract running out , I reckon both he & the club know exactly what is needed to further his contract so is not an issue either.
