I thought we had plently of defenders and few uninjured strikers - but I'm sure you know how to solve the problem without further expenses - oh tedious one

why not try pelayo gomez upfront?

i haven't seen him play personally
but reports suggest the has some flair

Why, Scott assembled this squad and said they were all first team players. What's wrong with Cort, Hudson and Forster. It's becoming the same as previous seasons, he signs a player then thinks the're not good enough and goes into the loan market...the list is endless of players he has signed and then not uses them. Cleveland Taylor, Steve Kabba, Ben Strevens for example and don't forget he was the one who recommended to Butcher that we sigh John Mackie and Lee Thorpe.........short memories ?

That's not the case at the moment though is it ? It was pretty obvious against Leyton Orient that Cort was nowhere near match fit and against Brighton that Forster was also really struggling with his injury.

Taylor was used a fair amount, but never really delivered.
Strevens struggled with that leg break from the start of his Bees career, and by the time he was fit, Scott had signed some replacements....
You may have a point with Kabba, but in the short time he got on the pitch he hardly set the world on fire....

Thorpe was at Orient, in Scott's time there, so he may have a point on that one.....I can't believe Butcher spent much time scouting the lower leagues whilst in Sydney - so Scott may have fingered Mackie too :sorted:

When Butcher arrived at the club he said he knew nothing about lower league players ( I was there when he said it) and would be looking for a number 2 who could advise him on potential signings, Scott came in and it was on record that he knew Mackie from his Orient days and we gave him a 2 year contract, which enede up with us having to pay him off, just like we did with Bennett.

I'm not trying to be a clever dick but Scott has signed one hell of a lot of players who are then discarded, we must be wasting thousands....

Yes agree, although do you know of a manager who is not guilty of wasting thousands on players signed who were not used/discarded. Nature of the business I am afraid.

We have two players - Karleigh and Kev - who have covered at right back. Neither have recently impressed in that position and the former is playing very well at centre back so it would be a case of shifting someone who is playing well. And both are - in my opinion - worse that Spillane there.

Spillane is a decent all round player (with enthusiasm) who would probably do OK up front if we were nearing the bottom of the barrel. I'd prefer to incur a short term loan expense ahead of this - I am sure we must have accounted for this possibility.

I don't have a golden answer - if pushed I'd play Myles up front and put Wood on the left but again this is arguably weakening a position, Myles having been our only real outlet from midfield.

Sorry for disagreeing with you. It happens sometimes.

I think the problem with Cort/Hudson/Forster is fitness currently as per my post. I'd prefer to bring them back slowly and not risk further injury / breaking Forster completely.

But yes you would hope that he could get 90 minutes out of two of them combined.

And fully agree that we didn't need Taylor when we signed him - I think it buggered up both Saunders and Taylor last season to be honest.
