Sidwell Returns?!

He was returning until he saw his new set of team-mates in action!

Now he is desperately getting on the phone to Luton, QPR and Leyton Orient!

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the item on the official site. To be honest, the rumour is the best news we have had in ages, even if it turns out to be completely false. It gives us hope, however brittle it may be.

As one of our unsung heroes from last term, it appears as though not too many clubs have been alerted to Sidwell's apparent availabilty. SSSssssshhhhhh!!!!


As a footnote, it is interesting that the official site is uploading the odd rumour these days. Perhaps Mark Chapman now requires permission to talk to the manager and playing staff as well! :D

I am sorry to disappoint you, but Steve Sidwell will not be returning to Brentford. A loan move has been lined up to the Belgian club, Beveren. This is due to be confirmed next week.

Sounds like you have this on pretty good authority. Oh well, let's hope Wally can discover a few more quality premiership youngsters. All the best for the future Steve, you've got real potential

Yes, I've heard this from someone who knows Steve very well! I think Arsenal have a link to Beveren, and want to loan a few of their players out to them. It's not a definite deal yet, but it's fair to say that unfortunately Steve will not be playing for the Bees next season. I know that he really enjoyed his time at Brentford, and thought that the players and supporters were fantastic. It will be interesting to see how his career develops, and like you, I would like to wish him all the best and thank him for the skill and commitment he showed for us last season.

Yep, I have also heard about the Belgian club, maybe he will end up like the Utd boyz and deck the ref! Top grade football he could play in and warm himself 4 the Premiership!

I prefer the official site sending out rumours instead of hard facts, its far more interesting also its so they can get more hits, more hits = more money = better players=better players = league champs=U Beeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Today's Chronicle says that he returned from Belgium unhappy, & that Arsenal wanna send him out on loan to a first division club. It also says that he was at the game on Tuesday with our latest loan-signing, Mr Chorley.

Arsenal player Steven Sidwell is no longer a member of the Beveren squad. According to Herman Helleputte the midfielder was not the reinforcement he hoped for. Furthermore Sidwell preferred to leave. The three other Gunners will stay in Beveren. Following a discussion with Wenger and Arsenal, they will be lent out until the end of the season. It is possible that another Gunner will join our squad on loan.

Arsenal would do worse than send him back to us. At least they know he was happy here and the can keep a close eye on him.

I understand that the main reasons that it didn't work out for Steve at Beveren, were a) he was not being played in his best position - central midfield, and b) a lack of professionalism in the training there.

It would be great to have Steve back at Brentford, but the person I've been speaking to has said that it is unlikely. Incidentally the same person told me that Wally had been making enquiries about Chorley, so it's interesting to see that we have signed him on loan.

Surely this would work far better for Stevie Hunt? Spurs do it for Steven Carr, I reckon "Steven Hunt My Lord" goes much better than Steve Sidwell....especially seeing as he is actually at the club!!

From the horses mouth maybe there is a glimmer of hope. Fingers crossed.

Link doesn't seem to work, premiership standards :rolleyes:, crux of the interview is he loved it here, looks out for our scores, and would love to be loaned out to a first or second div club. States that if it was Bees he would be over the proverbial.

I am sure sidders know how welcome we would make him, but is there anyway someone from official supporters club / mark chapman can pull together a 'come down for another season' from all of us supporters.

I am not sure how it works but you may be able to get a loan player and agree to pay only some of his wages. Anyhow I think Steve would make a great contribution to our side, mainly because of his involvement last year. He is very talented and would strengthen the side. It would seem he would be happy to come back. Just down to Wally and money

Wally is working wonders with a young, relatively inexperienced side. I think Steve Sidwell would continue to learn and blossom among a squad which displays such boundless enthusiasm.

Come on Steve, ask that nice Mr. Wenger if you can come back!

I saw that and thought it would be good news for us.
Thomas played 3 months? in the second division last year and they let him go back.
Maybe they would do the same with Sidwell. I suppose the question is, has Wally asked?

Agreed! Surely there must be a chance of getting Sidders back if rangers have got thomas back. He would certainly strengthen our midfield

If Downes wanted him and the dosh was there I'd be surprised if he couldn't be secured on a three month loan deal at least, rather than struggling to get in their reserves.

Looking at their 'stiffs', I think this team would be in the top half of the premiership. I think he might be setting his targets slightly higher than the 2nd division.
