Smile Ron!

As our glorious lads produced a sublime performance against Huddersfield, as I emotionally hugged any unfortunate fellow bees fan within arms length as the goals flew in, I happened to look over to where Uncle Ron was sitting. Was he jumping up & down in elation? politely clapping with a broad grin on his face?....was he hell! Old poker face was sitting arms folded looking for all the world like he'd just lost a winning lottery ticket. He couldn't even muster the enthusiasm to appluad the team off at half time.

Ok so he's not one of the most demonstrative of people but for godsake Stevie Coppell and the lads have worked wonders this season despite every half baked scheme & distraction Ron has manged to throw up (the latest being the Kinstonian rumours).

So Ron for the next two games any chance of letting the manager & players concentrate on getting the two wins which will complete mission impossible without any further off pitch distractions & if we do do it any chance of a smile????

A tiny bit unfair - you obviously didn't see his reaction when Sidwell scored the second one!

Perhaps he was contemplating the possibility of a three-goal half-time lead leading to the chance that Burgess/Owusu might be given a second-half rest - and that extra £1,000 on it's way to Charlton...!

I have to say that wiping my bum (and probably several others) with that £1000 would have been better value for money.

Don't call me harsh. I cheered Marky Mac when he came on as loudly as I could. I wanted him so badly to do well. I burned for him to outpace that defender to the ball when they had an equal start. I rejoiced when he made that excellent full stretch tackle in defence. However, the fact is that apart from that tackle he was absolutely sh!te. £1000 is probably 3 weeks wages for some of our players, you do the maths...

Similar thoughts to PAZ. I think that hopefully our chairman has negotiated the reduced performance fee he spoke of for Mr McC as I can't see him him being allowed to be on the bench otherwise.

For God's sake, when are the likes of Paz and Alex actually going to get behind ALL our players, including MMcG? We know that some players are better than others and we all have our favourites, but the guy is trying his best and he's never had a decent run in the side. PLEASE don't let the GPG get like the Reading message board, where a large percentage of so-called supporters slag off the manager or one or more players, Surely we're all above that, aren't we?

ALL players need our FULL support NOW. Please oblige accordingly or just keep quiet.

Well said. He was only on for about ten or fifteen minutes for Christ's sake, what did you expect him to do, score a hat-trick, then go in goal and save a penalty?

I think maybe the point Paz was trying to make was that in the circumstances of the game bringing Mark on seemed a strange decision.

Last week we were all clamouring for him to be played when it appeared BBB would be out and many people myself included were even offering to help subsidise his appearance.

However at the end of the day, we as fans need to be much more appreciative of financial issues surrounding the club than in the past and in particular ways in which money can be saved.

As we were 3-0 up with 10 minutes to go bringing him on rather than say O' Connor seemed to me to be potentially a waste of £1000 which may be put to better use in another game when we need him to either start or come on for a proper injury situation.

Hopefully Charlton have seen sense and will not instigate a charge of a grand for 10 minutes football.

Whilst I fully accept the reasonings behind Isleworth Bee's comments, the fact remains that Paz said that "apart from that tackle he was absolutely sh!te." Frankly we can do without such comments. Let's all get 100% behind the team. Even if we think such things, let's just keep them to ourselves or share them with friends and family only. This forum should not be the place to utter such comments.

Adverse comments cannot exactly boost morale. The team has worked wonders this year and we are a draw and a win away from promotion, which would be a fabulous effort from ALL concerned. Now is the time for supporting and encouraging comments only. Anything else should be kept off this board from Bees' fans, IMHO.

A brief word of thanks to Tranmere for managing a draw with Reading. A shame that they couldn't hold on to their 2 goal lead, but at least a draw against QPR could be enough even if Reading win next weekend.

Come on you Bees!!!

Yup Isleworth, spot on, as you often are. ;)
I essentially said what you said on a different thread (can't remember which one), just not this one.

My point really is that the club are paying so much money for such a (comparatively) poor performance. I appreciate Mark is doing his best, but somewhere along the line he has done something to persuade more than one person at this club he is worth £1000 per appearance. Now clearly this is not the case at present, and thus we have a right as fans to want him to produce something resembling £1000 form so to speak.
I am behind him 100% on the pitch, but when the goods aren't produced, trying hard is not good enough.
Saying all this, I would pick him on my bench most probably, but also as Isleworth said I wouldn't bring him on for a run out at such expense.

i agree that we need to get behind the boys and that hurling abuse on the grapevine does more harm than good.

The players have worked miracles this season. Everyone of them including Mark Mc deserce our support

By the way where dya get this £1000 per game idea?

The £1000 per game was the deal negotiated with Charlton (after he'd played a certain number of games) when we bought him.

You are absolutely right - we must support ALL players no matter what the situation.

I do take on board the point that it seems slightly illogical to play MMcG for 10-15 minutes at a cost of £1000 when Kevin O'Connor could have been used, especially when we were already 3-0 up. But you have to respect Steve Coppell's decision and, as I have said on another thread, out of a sizeable attendance, £1000 is a drop in the ocean really.

The bottom line is: let's stop calling any of our player's performance "sh*te" on this board. Say it to your friends, etc., by all means, but not on a forum that is easily accessible to the players. They have done marvellously all season and need our FULL support. If you can't give it on this forum then PLEASE keep quiet.

This is my polite plea to certain people, some of whom will no doubt chose to ignore it. That's everyone's prerogative, of course, but I think we must all see that this is a vital time for the club and now is not the time to publicly call anybody's performance "sh*te" if you call yourself a true supporter.

Reckon McCammon's not that bad.

In actual fact I feel sorry for him. He's not going to get the sort of run in the team he needs to get his confidence up because of his ludicrous contract.

Mr Piss and I were debating this in the pub; could he not try and buy out his contract? His career's being crippled because he costs an arm and a leg to play, but he could easily prove to be as good as Lloyd given a chance to wax his shooting boots. Maybe he could take a wage cut and give RN the difference.

OK, it sucks, and he shouldn't have to do such a thing - but he does. He's the real loser out of the situation, because as I understand it any club we sell him on to also gets stuck with the £1000 millstone. In the interests of his career he should consider it.
