Some Changes

  • Pictures are back on the Home Page - looks nice
  • On the Forum Navigation Menu, you will see two numbers in White next to the New Posts. This shows number of unread posts / threads.
  • On the same menu, there is a new item "My Posts" which is a drop down that allows you to see your posts and your threads.
  • If someone quotes you in a post, you will get a notification in your GPG Inbox. If you go to Settings (where you find all the PMs) you will have a list of posts that have quoted you.
  • There is a very large box on the Home Page showing all the users who have visited today - not sure I like that one.

Fixtures and other pages are still on the wish list but there might be some movement on these.

There may be other things occurring and some of these new ones might not last if they prove troublesome but any feedback would be welcome.

The rest is purely cosmetic and selfish sh*t, teh fixtures are my only concern.

Looks super! Well done!

How can I turn off the quote notifications? That's horrible. I keep thinking I've got PM's. Or infractions :banghead:. As for the rest of it, bravo! :sorted:

You can't - it's a global setting.. I can see how it might annoy so let's see what people think.

Another new feature - at the bottom of each thread there is a list of users who have viewed a thread. You can set the date / time to now and it will show you users from that point.

But it says I don't have permission to see who those users are?

Very nice, although being a bit pedant - the pictures on the front page do not show using tapatalk!

Yes I could expand it, but I was getting a message to say 'You do not have permission to view readers', or something along those lines. But it seems to be working now :sorted:. Seriously though Les, these notifications are driving me nutso :banghead:.

I do. But I've decided to turn it in to a positive :yes:. I'm never going to check them. I'm going to collect them instead and see how high I can make the counter go. In fact we all should. A sort of Notification Cup :yes:.

Probably because tapatalk doesn't support it.

Saying that there have been a few upgrades but this techie man is out of time for much GPG work these days.

Since I started playing I'm up to 7 now. But I'm just checking to see if I can boost my score by quoting myself.

I don't like that either, don't think it's necessary (like Twitter where it says your Tweets retweeted) One of my post was quoted and changed by someone else to try and make it look funny and receiving a notificationa bout it - is a bit daft! The rest is great tho

Now that they're pretty much complete, below is a summary of the changes that have been made.

Home Page
The plan was to integrate the Home Page more into the site. We've therefore added - and will continue to add - more content which is also going to be re-produced in the News section of the forum (for future searching).

In the Home Page Navigation bar there are 4 new options;

  • Match Reaction - This will contain a regular match report (excellent effort by Mick.C. this week) and transcribes of UR's press conferences when available (kindly provided by The Joker).
  • Match Previews - A summary a day or so prior to a match containing links to things like the OS preview, BIAS's travel guides etc.
  • 2011 / 2012 Fixtures - All this season's fixtures (only up to December so far - bear with us).
  • 2011 / 2012 Results - Each match, scorers, teams, attendance etc.

Forum
One or two new items;
  • Under Quick Links, there is a new page called New Members which errrr ...... lists New Members.
  • Forum Rules (the Code of Conduct) is back on display. :bound:
  • A new feature "My Posts" that allows you to easily select all of your posts and threads.

Other Changes
  • You will receive a Notification (via the GPG, not an email) when someone Quotes you in a post. To see the last 10 Quoted posts, click on Settings (top of the page).
  • At the bottom of each thread, you can see how many people have viewed the thread (and expand the box to see their names).
  • At the bottom of the Forum page, there is a similar box showing the number of visitors to the GPG today.

Apart from a minor scrub up in one or two places, I think that's all - feedback welcome.

i have decided i will like this feature. it is going to make it harder for people to wander off when their nonsensical opinions have been proven to be, er, nonsense. sadly i fear this is not going to do wonders for my GPG popularity :sad:

p.s. If there is anyone out there with good PHP skills and willing to help out with the GPG then please get in touch with Les. We're keen to get the BIAS connection back on the GPG as soon as we can.

this feature doesn't appear to work 100%. just for info, not particularly bothered :shrug:

i sometimes get the notification, but often (i'd 3 of every 4) i see people have quoted one of my posts, but i don't have a notification. maybe it's just me :(

Never noticed a problem to be honest. Don't know why it wouldn't work all the time but I'll keep an eye on it.

Yes - I see that the database could get fed up recycling crap and may opt for quality. I did wonder though - do you have any other notifications turned off? That may be the cause.
