Of course, if Sonay were to win tomorrow, she'd be higher than 60 in the rankings.

Also, Heather Watson will now be 211, with Harriet Dart (who, not so long ago, was playing singles at BJK matches for GB) now as low as 230!

Decent win from Sonay against the no. 20 seed, so congrats to her, especially as she fought back twice from a break down in the final set at 4-5 and 5-6, with Navarro failing to serve it out either time. Then Sonay won the tie break fairly easily.

I watched a fair bit of the match and, from what I saw, the American didn't play particularly well and seems to slipping down the rankings fairly quickly, but Sonay can only play whoever she is facing and she was more solid than her opponent overall. Good luck to her in round 3 where she will potentially be playing Madison Keys who was, I seem to recall, out injured for a good few weeks near the end of last season, so, who knows, Sonay could be in with a chance of beating another top 20 player.

Its brilliant because she would have had to use a protected ranking of 56 to even get into events like this one for next few months

But now her actual ranking will be 50 so she wont need to

And she has 6 months from March with zero points to defend
