Song for Uwe

Folks, we've had a whole season where Uwe done good. Surely we can't go into season 2 without a song for the man?

Looking on other posts we've had 'Uwe's in the Heart' (Groove is in the Heart) and Rockin All Uwe the World (Status Quo). Both inspired suggestions IMHO. So is it going to be one of them or something else?

Well if you want a deutsche reference we could go for Kraft Werks 'Fun fun fun on the Uwe-bahn' but he needs some kind of song that isn't just an insult.

Don't leave me Uwe.....I like a bit of Jimmy Sommerville and all that Hull speculation really scared me.

Surely we need a song for Alan Stubbs too.

I used this one before but updated one for Douglas could be, Myles to the left of me, Saunders to the right, here I am, stuck in the middle with Dave.

Anyone know any Average White band stuff for Woodman?

I'm all songed out now.

Uwe, Uwe, Uwe, U-WE! Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh. (to the chorus of "Ruby" by Kaiser Chiefs)

You could probably add something on there regarding him being from Germany and now at the Bees

As the best German song (ok, only one I know) is 99 Red Balloons, I think 99red balloons should be blown up and released at every home game. #gimmicksrule.

Rosler for all times!

His name reminds me of an German Volkslied (Lyrics from J.W.Goethe): "Sah ein Knab ein Röslein stehn".
It goes like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tqpcw9KL7mE

The text (of course, in German) could be slightly modfied to:

Wir sehn Uwe Rösler stehn,
Rösler an der Seite.
Ganz egal, was wird geschehn -
er wird niemals von uns gehn!
Rösler alle Zeiten!
Rösler, Rösler, Rösler - ja!
Rösler alle Zeiten!

In English, this means approximately

Uwe Rosler can be seen,
Rosler at the side.
Be it good or either way -
He will never go away.
Rosler for all times!
Rosler, Rosler, Rosler - yeah!
Rosler for all times!

You can sing this when you visit Lok Leipzig...

There is one great Anglo-German song which stands out above all others - 'Lili Marlene':

"Its popularity quickly grew. Soldiers stationed around the Mediterranean, including both German Afrika Korps and British Eighth Army troops, regularly tuned in to hear it. Erwin Rommel, commander of the Afrika Korps, admired the song and asked Radio Belgrade to incorporate it into their broadcasts, which they did.
Many Allied soldiers made a point of listening to it at the end of the day. For example, in his memoir Eastern Approaches, Fitzroy Maclean describes the song's effect in the spring of 1942 during the Western Desert Campaign: "Husky, sensuous, nostalgic, sugar-sweet, her voice seemed to reach out to you, as she lingered over the catchy tune, the sickly sentimental words."

Here are the original lyrics:

And here is the tune, sung by Marlene Dietrich, the most famous version:

I suggest the following lyrics:

Underneath the Floodlights,
From his Dugout seat,
Uwe getting anxious,
Then jumping to his feet

Shouting aloud with all his breath,
'Come On You Bees,
Pass Zem to Death'
Our own, our Uwe Rosler,
Our Uwe and our Bees

Not very PC, but I'm amazed no one's suggested dusting off the old Lulu song, much missed from the terraces: "you know you make me want a kraut".
