This rumour has been going around for months now, and apparently we will be trying to get him in the summer. I think he's a great player, and theres talk about him on an unofficial County site now!

Erm I dunno, but we are better than you lot aint we. Moreorless a new team now, and high expectations for next season. Our RICH owner has agreed to give Sammy funds to strenghten the squad "as much as he needs to"

He's very good, but he's very expensive. And not immune to awful cock-ups, like the one that led to Colchester's second on Monday.

In a word - money.

He is probably our highest paid player and if Allen wants to rebuild the team next season he might want to spend that money on other players.

When is his contract up? If we were to get even a small transfer fee as well I'd grab it.

Surely we can pick up a defender for about 1K a week who could do the same job.
Especially if another options means a wage increase, which it probably does.

Well I think Brian Kennedy will pay quite a bit to get players Sammy wants. I think we are gonna get two goalies, one or two defenders, a midfielder or two and a striker!

But we have lots of money now, and we have a good money income etc, and have no debt, I think the club we have in China is making us lots of money now too!

You think Sonko might not go to us, but I think he would probably get more than 2K! Theres this 18 year old called Chris Williams, hardly ever plays - do you remember that cracking goal he scored at your place!?, but he's on about 1.8K - I know cos my mate used to go out with him!

But anyway, I dunno, I am just saying its a rumor that has been there for months, and it never seems to go away.

But hey, we have a lot of defenders that really arent what we expect, and some that are good but can't get in the team, so you might even get a part ex, with dough too

Has he said that he is going to "fund" success and excess wages If so beware, its happened elsewhere and look where it got them (us)!! :sad:
Do you know who this guy is, whats his background and where does his wealth come from? I wouldn't trust anyone who wants to pump money into a lowly nationwide clubs. There have been too many arseholes that have supposedly done it before. :rolleyes:

It's not pumping money in as such, because I think there are a few players that have to go, before he will agree or something. Say like we have about 9 defenders, 2 or 3 of which we don't want, so they will have to leave. Then theres midfielders of which we have about 20, so i bet some of those will leave too.

Brian Kennedy is a successful business man, he has owned about 4 double glazing companies, as well as tele-sales things!

He is the owner of Sale Sharks too, and he has made them successful, so I trust him, and I know that what he will do will be the best for this club!

If Sonko goes to either of these 2 clubs, I would be amazed.

If Sonko went to Stockport, I would not be amazed if he got a good enough financial offer. Sounds like we are already paying him a lot of cash (how long is his contract?), do Stockport have the financial clout to better that Clare (I have no idea)? because there is no footballing reason to go there.

Well I can see why you might say that, because our performance at GP was woeful, but we are so much better now, and Sammy has really installed confidence into the team. We are showing fantastic performances and great team spirit, if you vut open any of our players arms, I am sure they would bleed Stockport County!

We are a richish (compared to a lot of clubs in this division) club, and I think next season with the players Sammy has brought in, and the ones he is gonna get over the summer, we can make a push to get out of this division. We are top of the form table by merit, not by luck!

Unless someone is really funding you with no strings, which is unlikely, I would be very surprised if you were making enough based on your gates to pay these salaries that current Stockport players are allegedly earning, without the need of a real sugar daddy. Maybe this Mr Kennedy is spending his own money, but I doubt it. :sad:

Yeh, he has given some of his own money, the most he has spent upto now on a player though was £70.000. He paid that himself!

Ola Tidman is great! He's a legend! We should try and get him back, cos hes not been playing for them has he!

We only have one keeper of our own, hes 19, out of contract in the summer and he has had a trail at Sunderland and Mick Mc'Carthey and their scouts watch him regulaly! We need two keepers, a reserve one, and a first team one!

And oh yeh, we are gonna stay up!

Yeh, he was I know, but I think at the point we played you, he was only 17! He has an awful lot of talent, and he is learning more and more all the time. This season he has done quite a good job, but Sammy went for experience about him. He has saved a Tommy Mooney penalty though!

Anyways, the performance at GP was shocking, I have already said that so many times, but we have improved a lot!

Oh don't get me wrong, I think he is a class act and will turn into a top defender, but he does worry me on the odd occasion.

Let's assume Sonko is earning the £2K per week mooted and we hold an option for next season on his services.

Should we not exercise this option I would anticipate that he will be a free agent without compensation due.

Normally a club is only due a fee if a contract is offered and rejected and the player is under 24.

Perhaps there might be scope for the contractual terms for next season to be renegotiated as I would be amazed if the playing budget would allow for his salary at current levels next season.

Unlike Hermann he is a gamble that has not quite come off - we have certainly benefited from his ability but we surely signed him to sell him and any interested clubs would wait until they can pick him up at the end of the season.

Well he might do, but for me, he hasnt earned his salary this year, major let down

The fact that Hartlepool, Barnsley and Colchester are all also in the top 8 of the Div.2 form table makes our recent run of results even more impressive!

As for Sonko, agree that he has been much improved under Martin Allen but whether this lasts to he returns to his 'sometimes brillaint, sometimes awful' form remains to be seen.
Personally I think at this level we need centre backs more like Fitzgerald - not outstanding but consitently solid.
