Split the away seating in two

Why can’t bfc allocate the front row seats say five rows and the back row seats for the standing crowd that way keep both groups happy at away games can’t be that hard to organise ??

They can’t even manage to send the tickets out in time, so we have no hope of them sorting something out.I must say good idea and would solve a few problems.

While standing at away games isn’t a new topic I think it is something that BFC need to add on to their list to sort.

If you are attending with young and / or old at the moment away games are painful. No one wants to stop the standers standing but get people in the right places in the stand. In previous seasons, with away allocations not sold out, we could move around and find a solution ourselves but not now that away games are sold out or very close to it.

The club has data on all of us. And via friends and family they know who we attend with. If any booking for tickets comes in that includes a junior or senior get them in the first 4/5 rows.

I don’t believe it can be that hard.

We just need a process though.

I think, in all honesty, the club just needs a process settled to sell tickets. After they get that correct then we can make it better.

Come on its hard enough to sell a ticket on the website without complicating orders with any more detail than

Are you an adult ?
Actually it's simple... All orders with concessions, either adult or senior should be allocated seats at the front.

Even a child, with their height can have difficulty seeing over a tall person sitting in front of them.

The club should have a good idea as to if a game is going to sell out, so they can either allocate seats at the front for concessions, or hold back on ticket orders contains concssions so that these can be posted out as the stand fills from the back.

For some games like Wolves for example they could liase with home club to only take 89% of the allocation and have unreserved seating.

They could also add a preference to the ticketing site, front, middle and back.

Its not hard at all to take a pile of tickets and to split it into two piles

Except when said senior, like my dad, has no wish to be sat in the front and at 79 years young would rather happily stand and sing than be stuck in the front few rows. If you auto allocate you simply create a new problem. It has to be a manual selection when ordering or it won’t work.

I don’t mind standing at all, and in some ways I quite welcome it. But i have to say that I had some sympathy for a woman at Crystal Palace who was quite short and had no chance whatsoever of seeing anything. She gave up just before half-time and left, which was a real shame. I’ve no idea what the solution is, but I guess it would be good if something could be done to make life a bit easier for everyone.

She could have just walked down to the front where the first 4 rows were unoccupied.

I do wonder about humans sometimes...

Upper tier at Villa all stood up all game no issues around us but I know that's not going to be the universal experience for every game what can you do ?‍♂️

You can’t dictate to the away club whether tickets are unreserved or not. You are making sales incredibly difficult with that post.

Easy to say now, but if I’m honest I had no idea the front rows were unoccupied. I couldn’t see that from where we were although I accept Palace was pretty abysmal viewing from much of the away section. Yes, I suppose she could have gone looking to find somewhere she could see, but if it looked pretty packed everywhere I can see why she just gave up. I’m not necessarily defending what she did, but I can understand it and just think it’s a shame.

It’s football. Even though the Taylor Report was 30 odd years ago and we have all seater stadiums, people stand at football matches. It is not some newfangled thing following promotion. Everyone who buys a ticket to an away game now after navigating through the TAPs thresholds etc really ought to know it isn’t like having half the away tickets unsold and being able to sit/stand where you want. Everyone ought to realise that just getting double the away tickets out that we used to on a regular basis is causing the club logistical problems.

In an ideal world we’d have whizzy IT systems and have every member opt in with seat preferences (aisle, higher/lower probability of standing, near to the home fans, handy for the tea bar or loos) maybe taking every member’s height data into account and optimising their viWes by reference to their neighbours. Or, having spent years standing on Brook Road and seeing almost nothing that happened beyond the near penalty area or sat behind a pillar on Braemar or New Road, or spent 90 mins a fortnight having one’s knees jabbed by the too close seat in front, maybe we can just try not to treat the whole thing like a trip to Covent Garden for the opera.

I said 'liaise' not dictate.

For many an away game we have been able to sit where we want when we have gone away.

All the club need to do (with the cooperation of the home team) is advise if it reserved or unreserved seating.

It's 3000 in 3000 seats now. No chance of sitting where we want.

The home team have no need to cooperate with us and make extra work for themselves for no benefit to themselves. Just imagine our ticket office trying to do this for Arsenal when most of us hadn't even received our STs the other week

Don't the club have to sell away tickets under the instructions of the home club?
So they can't sell one set of tickets before another, or have I got that wrong?

The best we can all do is look around us and be supportive of our fellow Bees. At Palace the bloke Infront stood his son up on the seat so we both helped the lady next to us to climb down a row so she could stand alongside them. At Villa the old bloke to the right of us was moved down to the front by his son.

If it's 3,000 then yes.
We are not going to take more to Wolves for a lunch time kick off that's live on telly than we did to Villa

So then that's ok then isn't it?!

Plenty of space to stand/sit where you want and claim the away attendance was 445,000 and Lineker heard our cheers

Your right, tickets are usually sold from the back... But they don't have to be posted on the day of sale, those who want concessions could be held back until the lower rows are unavailable

Which part?
You said all of the upper tier stood all game, not true, 2 rows in front of me sat, rows in front of them stood. Row behind me sat.

pp80 if you want to be precise, no problem with your view but don’t write stuff that’s totally wrong.

Apologies my view was blocked because the people in front of me were stood up...

No problem, my lad and I wanted to stand and had to at times, but clearly the people behind didn’t want to though decent and no problems, but the 2 rows in front must have been missing loads.

Yeah as I said it is not going to be a universal experience just lucky, if you are able to stand and happy to do so, that those around you are also of that frame of mind. It's always going to be a problem though really...

It needs sorting before the real big away matches. At present everyone stands and there is genuine distress for juniors
and some oldies in having to stand, including kids standing on seats for 90 minutes to watch Brentford in the Premier. Try
explaining to a seven year old why the six foot bloke in front of him/her needs to stand up when they have a perfectly good view sitting down.
Why do we all need to stand away from home, but 60% are happy to sit at home matches.
Sheep mentality
GET IT SORTED MR VARNEY because Palace and Villa outcomes for juniors and elderly were dimply NOT GOOD ENOUGH !

I think you're taking a sharp view here.

I know that the vast majority will stand at away matches, even though I sit down at home matches.

The away matches will be occupied by the hard core of fans.

If I want to join them then I expect to stand.

I would think twice or three times before I thought about taking a seven year old to a sell-out away match. Then I would not take them. Any supporter would know this.

Finally, Jon Varney has no jurisdiction over this.

Why do the club have to sort this ?
On the day, if you want to stand, head for the back.
If you want to sit, head for the front.
Carpe Deum or something.

I was at Fulham away a few years ago, everyone in front standing (as I wanted to ! ) guy behind kept complaining and reaching through to row in front…to the point the guy in front turned and was about to lose it to the guy behind me……guy behind was mr Brentford!

Nothing the CEO can do. As others have posted, it will be impossible to allocate specific seats to specific age groups. The only option is for those that want to sit to make their way to the front and ask for a seat swap.

Why not just offer to swap seats with the person in front of you.
And to answer , probably because the majority of the people who attend aways stand at home.

For Palace nor Villa have my group sat in our actually seats, due to others being in ours but it’s not a problem, we just find somewhere else.

Palace there was plenty of room and same with villa at the front.

Our seven and nine year olds were passionate Brentford supporters three years ago and have TAP points of 2500 and 3500 respectively.
They are hard core fans and are part of our three generation family group who attend as many home and way matches as we possible can.
I am a hard core fan of 60 years and I object to being advised that sell out away matches aren't for junior supporters, I think you have got that
very wrong. The Club has been trying to build the current fan base for the last thirty years and now we have finally made it to the promised land,
your advice is tell the kids they can't go unless they are prepared to stand on a seat for ninety minutes to catch some idea of what is happening.
Finally I dont need your patronising 'any supporter would know this' comments.
Have you ever taken football mad kids to a match ? Doesn't sound like it.
Or told them they cant go to away games because there are a lot of sheep there who have to stand, or that it is beyond the ability of those
selling tickets to create dedicated areas for young and old to be able to sit and watch the game ?
Very disappointed in your response - if Varney is not responsible then who is ?

"Sheep" :rolleyes:

How is Varney responsible for something that doesn't happen at the club

You are the person taking kids to unsuitable venues knowing what goes on. So my view is that it is Caveat Emptor in this case.

I think the “solution” for this is to have an unofficial policy that if you want to stand and the person behind you wants to sit, you should swap seats.

Correct.

And therefore it requires a judgment call from people. If you are going to a "sold out" away match then you can expect to stand. No-one will be sitting at Old Trafford or Anfield for example.

If you are going to Burnley then you will probably find somewhere to sit without issue.

It's not hard.

Sitting at Anfield or Old Trafford ain't gonna happen - no matter what @Reg tells you.

Football grounds are unsuitable venues, really ?
Disgraceful response
