Sporting Trivia

Only 6 British footballers have made 100 league appearances for four different clubs (of which 1 of the 6 has made 100 league appearances for five different clubs). Name them.

Having said 60s/70s, I thought back to 66WC .... and suggest Alan Ball .... Blackpool, Everton, Arsenal, Southampton

Yep, Alan Ball is one.

That’s all of the ‘big names’ - Shilton, Waddle and Ball. The remaining 3 have had decent but slightly less illustrious careers. (I’ll like any posts that contain a correct answer!)

Saw this the other day and thought it was decent trivia question:

I'd say 3 of them are 'big names' whilst the other 3 are a less so.
Crouch ?

Tony Ford?

Sporting Trivia

Was going to say Budgie but I think he spread himself too thin! Probably holds a record for most number of clubs. Maybe another keeper?

Sporting Trivia

Scott McGleish.
Barnet, Northampton, Wycombe, Leyton Orient (2 spells)

Already mentioned Graham Alexander.

Interesting - that wasn't the answer I had but it seems correct. Presumably the 2 spells has discounted him as an answer although the question never referenced consecutive.

The 6th answer I had racked up 100+ appearances at Falkirk, Huddersfield, Burnley and Rangers

David Seaman, David Beckham, Ray Wilkins, Marcus Bent, Teddy Sherringham, Les Ferdinand, Paul Telfer, Robbie Keane?

Good question. None of this since 1992 nonsense.

Mark McGeown and Gordon Marshall also played 100 plus league matches for 4 different clubs in Scotland

Sporting Trivia

None of those I’m afraid. I think all 6 have been answered in the posts above (and even an additional one by @horshambees)

The question and answers are here: Which players have been centurions at four or more football clubs? | Football | The Guardian

The article that followed this was interestingly all about clubs NOT getting penalties. Palace are the prime losers, having gone years on several separate occasions without having a penalty awarded!
This may explain the irresistible urge that afflicts Ayew and Zaha to collapse immediately on reaching the penalty area….

Sporting Trivia

Willie Fotheringham.
Between the wars 100+ appearances for 4; different clubs in Scotland.
Another keeper.

Are you sure all of those last few have 100 league games? On Willie Forheringham’s Wikipedia page it says he played 105 games for Morton but surely more than 5 of these were in the cup?

PETER CLARKE - Blackpool, Southend, Huddersfield, Oldham (& nearly for Tranmere as well).

He played 580 league matches and the Wikipedia doesn't include his SFA Cup games.
So yes he played 105 Scottish League games for Morton.

Sporting Trivia

Ollie Pope has now scored 14 first class hundreds, but what was so peculiar about his 100 at Trent Bridge?
