Squad Depth

We have a lot of players who can play in different positions.

We have a lot of cover at the moment.

Based on the squad on the O/S. I would say this is the best squad we have had for a couple of years.

It is, without doubt, the best squad for a couple of years. That's not saying too much to be honest.

I think we are heading for the play-offs at least, with a realistic hope of straight promotion, and a chance of being champions (for which I have a 20-1 pre season bet).

Me too - I get £20 if we go up and £100 if we go up as Champions.

Agree with you that on paper we have possibly the best squad in the league. I can see us definitely being up in the chase for promotion at the end of the season. Not sure that we will go up in the automatic spots though as we always seem to have a poor time over Christmas when we seem to throw games away that we should really win.

Didn't know where else to post but Montague scored against a strong Aldershot team in the HSC for Basingtoke tonight. Why are his other threads closed..?

Lots of players nominated for central Mid, only quality ones are Smith (injured) bean (on his occasional day) Ochoa (when he grows up)

Kev only counts as a central Mid stopper

We need quality in the center to link up all the other players mentioned, without this quality we ain't gonna make it (out of this division)

So Ochoa, with 0 league games, is "quality" and O'Connor, with more than 300, isn't?

Bean has played well in most games this year.

I'll admit I've only seen Lewis Ochoa fleetingly for the youth team, but what I saw, I liked and he does indeed look a fine prospect. A little too lightweight for the first team and perhaps a loan spell beckons, but reckon he will be a real asset in a season or two. :sorted:

Comparing this to sqaud of Martin Allen's final year, it is laughable.

The season we lost out to Swansea in the play-offs was a mush, mush better sqaud. I know it was a higher division, but is there that nush difference?
