Stadium Question : 1

We have a new stadium in the pipeline. The shape of the ground is a bowl-type. The sections behind the goals are smaller than the sides. Ideal for a small section of safe terracing I would have thought.

Good idea or bad idea?
Will there be a trend towards safe standing areas in the future?
If yes, we will be leading the way?
Or do you favour playing it safe with an all-seater arena?

Your thoughts and votes please.

Don't you have to have an all-seater for the Premiership nowadays? :D :D :D

Personally, I'm in favour of a bit of terracing, but it's vital (IMHO) that anything designed for stamding is readily capable of having seats added to it. Otherwise, somebody down the line will make it mandatory for all-seaters and we'll be looking at big costs.

Stadium Question : 1

Safe standing area is a must.

Someone has to pioneer a new stadium such as this with an area for home fans at least that allows for standing, who better than, hopefully, the nations first club wholly owned by supporters.

John Mac indicates its on the agenda in a Beesotted thread so it looks like it may even happen.

Stadium Question : 1

I think someone said Exeter built a huge new terrace with a view to converting it to seats one day. Don't know if it would wash with entirely new grounds, though. Did the Taylor report have any conditions in it saying that all clubs moving to a new stadium have to have all seats, or is that just how it's turned out?

I voted No because I don't think sitting makes it any harder to sing/support the team, which is the chief reason why people champion keeping terracing.

Stadium Question : 1

I would say we should have the lower tier of one end standing.

All you do is lay the concrete as normal for seating, then paint some walkways white and fit crush barriers in.

Stadium Question : 1

Much as I like to stand, why bother with a terrace? If one day we go up to the Premier we'll only have to put seats in, with money that could be better spent financing the squad or something.

Stadium Question : 1

Safe terracing would be a great selling point for getting people interested in visiting the stadium so I'm afraid I disagree with what you say Mr Whippy.
Without sounding too much like a killjoy, My first reaction whenever i see a new stadium spring up is one of dread because I hate sitting down (I'm a big fat bastard and to be honest with you, i've yet to be comfortable in any of the new stadiums i've visited yet) and i hate the loud music that seems mandatory nowadays. Did you see that Middlesborough game on this evening? A great finale and great sceens of celebration at the end...until some **** decided to pump a piranhas 45 from 1979 over the PA. I'd like to see these thing addressed seriously at Brentford in the future. I'd like to see this club ask the fans about their opinions to loud disco music straight after the final whistle, loud music after a goal (OI MILLWALL- NO!!) or dare i say it , a corner. A new stadium does not mean you have to ignite loads of fireworks to get an "atmosphere" going (although i'd forgive it for the opening game). I fear that Brentford have one or two people that may think that being in a new stadium means that these things would have to happen. I'd like to think a new stadium is a good chance for Brentford to not do what others have done.
Am i alone in disliking the way the game has been polished up the past few years or am i just an old git?

Stadium Question : 1

The way forward is getting a stadium. It doesn't matter whether or not there are safe standing areas or not.

Put it this way. If the ONLY way the Lionel Rd scheme could happen is that it was an all seater stadium - would you object and prevent it being built. I think not.

This may be close to some people's hearts, BUT it is not anywhere close to the central issue which is getting a new stadium standing/seating/kneeling or whatever.

No far from it a common thought amongst fans far and wide.

Wherever we end up, with Bees united in charge we might be able to buck the trend of corporate/prawn sandwich domes and build one for ALL fans that retains the traditional feel of a football ground.

Most new or rebuilt stadiums that I have been to lack something in atmosphere and design. Take the Macalpine at udders, very impressive but not very intimidating for teams with the crowd a long way away and no proper home end.

Stadium Question : 1

i think it should be all seater but one of the ends could be a 'atmousphere stand'where there would be no objection to standing.at away games im standing and singing for most of the game anyway-even if there is seats.

Stadium Question : 1

I believe that's what are usually titled "singing areas". The trouble with that idea is that there will always be some kind of objection from either other fans or stewards. Seats are for sitting in.

Stadium Question : 1

The club would get in trouble if they openly permitted standing in seating areas, I think it's against the law.

Stadium Question : 1

I think a safe terraced area is a great idea and i also believe it would create a better atmosphere. All seater stadium aren't a safe as they are made out to be. There have been disasters in the last few years in these types of stadium where people have lost their lives. Okay, we haven't seen anything like it here but we we have seen chairs being ripped out and thrown only last week. I'd love to be able to stand again whilst having a decent view.

Stadium Question : 1

I don't think any "new style" stadium will ever be built with unseated areas. It's just not "the done thing" in this day and age!
