Statement from official site

THE CURRENT SITUATION - 2/5/2001

With the majority of national newspapers this morning suggesting that the soon to be announced coaching set up at Watford FC will involve the appointment of current Bees Manager Ray Lewington, I can confirm that as of this morning there had, to my knowledge, been no official approach from the First Division club for the services of Ray.

As a result, as he is under contract to Brentford as Manager, that situation has not changed and he can thus be expected to lead the Bees into one if not both of their final two League matches this week...at home to Luton Town tomorrow, and at home to Bury on Saturday.

From what I can gather Vialli hasn't confirmed his staff yet but Blissett and Jacket are leaving at the end of the season. And remember Vialli doesn't take over until NEXT season.

bbc.co.uk/football says that he is expected to have Ray Wilkins as his assistant. Whether or not Ray Lew has been lined up for a coaching position is not confirmed anywhere yet as far as I know. Teamlies is the only place where I can link Lew to Watford and we all know how accurate they are don't we!!!!!!!

the press conf. was live on talk sport they mention Ray Lewi as ASST.Manager to Luca.

A colleauge of mine is Terry Bullivant's next door neighbour and the word is that Ray Lewington is definitely going to Watford.
