Do you think he will be able to handle all the pressure, remember he went to Man City I think it was for 28 days or something, is he really that good or was it down to Ron.

I reckon the up 'n under he employs is redundant and we should have gone for a younger manager finding his way, fresh ideas and all that, I think he is of the old skool, you know, the George Graham / Dave Bassett type who still allows players to drink and stuff, another hard season I think with peaks and troughs, what do you all think??

p.s. bring on the rangers, lets 'ave 'em !!!

....not bad for a first post is it ??

Welcome Jon - don't let GABS put you off!! I don't think we have any need to worry about Coppell's time at Man City. I think a much better comparison is how well he did at various times at Crystal Palace.

To be honest, I think the pressure's pretty much off him here. At Palace, he was battling against a background where players weren't being paid and the club was on the brink of extinction. Man City's problems have also been well documented and the expectation level there was ridiculously high.

I don't think anybody expects too much from Brentford for the coming season on the pitch, what with all the nonsense going on behind the scenes, and Noades is likely to be taking all the flak anyway so he can pretty much just get on with the job.

If we get to the play-offs everyone will be delighted and with the squad we've got at the moment that's not an impossible task.

I'm actually quite looking forward to this season for some strange reason. Must be a masochist..

Must say though that I hope he doesn't take us back to all that long ball nonsense, as you rightly say that style of play is totally discredited now and we haven't got the players to play that way anyhow. (as Ron discovered last season)
