Like Cort, potentially a very good signing and adds options to our depleted strike force. Did SMS say how long the deal was for ?

Steve Kabba

woo hoo!

I think .....

Steve Kabba

as with cort, not exactly "inspired" from scott but could prove to be useful as cover throughout this season, which ultimately (despite the optimism) is a season of consoliation. anything more comes as a bonus.

my thoughts too.

Steve Kabba

We shall see how it pans out - will it be Cort/Kabba up front or will it be Weston and one from those two I wonder..?

I fully expect us to challenge, but maybe thats just me. I look at the squad and whilst goal scoring is a concern i think it's a very strong squad. Signing the likes of Cort and Kabba would have been a pipe dream a very short time ago.

Steve Kabba

I do think a few heads will have turned from us signing Cort and Kabba whether it is warranted or not - they are well known "names". I like AS's style...a considered gamble, at League 1 level if they click it could be "raining goals at Griffin Park" ;)

Welcome Steve...and well done again to BFC/AS for at least ensuring we have the best chance possible to hit the ground running whilst our fallen are still with nurse. :sorted:

Edit: Actually I think Scotty may have played a blinder, just got a hunch :)

Would Kabba not be another example of a 5 month contract a la Cort?

Whilst I agree with you a lot of the press are tipping us to make a positive impact too. But then again they were pretty unanimous in saying that Hull and Stoke would be back in the Fizzy Pop Champ at this time last year

Welcome aboard Steve. If he can rearrange the apps, goals and subs so it says 18 goals in 32 games with 3 sub apps I think we will be happy

Steve Kabba

I hope they both do well. I do like the way that Andy Scott is suggesting this is how he planned it all - hmmmmm.

Steve Kabba

Unless the pope decides that a year is now only 5 months I think not.

I meant why commit to a whole year, why not do a similar deal as we did wit Cort?

Granted he's another 'name', but he's had bad injuries in the last 2 years and scored just 3 goals in that time. What's the difference between him and Cort?

Steve Kabba

so potentially we could start with Cort and Kabba, how football has changed.......AS won't though, it will be Cort with Weston and Kabba on the bench.

Still the striker situation concerns me, but I think AS will have a youngster loanee lined up for before the transfer window ends, and we shall see we were go from there.

I'd imagine the difference is Cort has come in to replace Strevens injury period, while AS feels Kabba could be useful for the whole season

I am really pleased with this signing. I have always rated Kabba. Quick, strong and explosive on his day. If he get a decent run of games under his belt, Charlie may find it difficult getting back into the team. Definately good enough for this level. If Kabba and Cort can kick on with us, there are going to be some league 1 defences cacking it this season.

The signings of Kabba and Cort really don't excite me. I really hope they both prove me wrong.

Steve Kabba

Do you think this means the end of the line for the Spanish guy?

If AS had been tracking him for a while why did he only play one pre season game, was he on trial elsewhere?

If it works it will big time and Andy Scott will be beaming on the touchlines and we'll all be looking sheepish. A loanee would be good too and I hope we take a punt on Lucas if it's financially viable on a short deal.

....................good work......................

Steve Kabba

Decent player who excelled at Sheff Utd and like Cort has things to prove.

I like the fact that the older players brought in are all hungry to play and re-establısh themsleves.

We can only benefit.

Once we brought in a forward who was just hungry so this has to be an upgrade

Unlike Shipperley and Gayle I think these two will be looking to play at a higher level again, especially Kabba.

Steve Kabba

I remember watching Kabba at Palace a few years ago and thinking that if he got the ball in space in his own half that there was danger for the other side. He was quick, direct and a real handful, most forwards do their damage in and around the box but this guy offered loads more. Let's hope that he still has it.
Like maddogging says though, it will be Cort and Weston starting.

hahahaha

another good signing, we got to be optamistic about all this, if we were told 2 seasons ago we were gonna have players of this calibre coming to us you would laugh!!! kabba is young coming back to his home town, and got a point to prove like burton, but im sure kabba will be better than burton (not hard i know), if we give kabba and cort the service im sure were gonna be right up there, and what with charlie to were gonna be a good side this year looking for promotion!!

Steve Kabba

At their peak both Kabba and Cort were more than useful. I hope they both still have the desire and haven't come for an easy ride. If they are keen to kick-start their career, then there could be exciting times at Griffin Park. We have the players who can provide the ammunition and I only hope they both have the hunger to blast away.

Steve Kabba

kabba is young

He's 28 isn't he? Not over the hill, but no spring chicken either...

Anyway, I'm more pleased/excited about this one than Cort, although I have to say I'm basing that on seeing him play years ago. Still, welcome, and good luck Steve. ..

Some of the dealings of AS over the last two years or so make me think that if anybody, not necessarily these two, want an easy ride then the ride will be short. In the case of CC it will also not be a very well rewarded one either

Steve Kabba

2005/6 season at Sheffield United.Kabba made 21 starts + 13 as sub scoring 9 goals.

That season United finished 2nd and were promoted to the Premiership often playing

alongside Shipperley the leading scorer with 11 goals!

Although Mr Shipperley did not do the business with us,is does indicate that Kabba

can produce,if he can remain fit/injury free.

Hope it all goes well for both parties.

Steve Kabba

I'm really happy with the Kabba signing, at 28 he will be, physically, at the peak of his career and I think come January we'll be begging Andy to extend his contract.
