Steve Sidwell

It seems to me that loan transfers are the way forward and the likes of Steve Sidwell returning next year may be an option we should look at!

also we should be contacting other premiership clubs to see which of their up and coming players we might be able to have on long loans!

We are able to utilise this avenue on ten occassions this year so if you use it effectively we could actually considerably strengthen the team.

Blimey ! Your a revelation, I wonder if the club including Wallace D have even considered this

Steve Sidwell

Bigbee...you'd certainly hope so wouldn't you?

I know it's no big revelation...but the situation around the club at the moment is coming to resemble a bunch of headless chickens....

reminders of these simple things may not be entirely a bad idea!!

wally downes said on clubcall that he would be looking to get a couple of lengthy loans this season and hinted at checking out bbb and sidwell again.

Steve Sidwell

hmmm...not so sure of bbb...I watched him the season before playing for Northern Spirit whilst I was living in Sydney..and thought he was good but he missed a fair few sitters....

fair enough he then performed for us well with owusu...

but in those final few games he was rubbish, although having said that I think his injury was affecting him far more than Coppell was letting on!

Steve Sidwell

He was clearly suffering from his injury (which might jeopardise any chance of him coming back to us- if Blackburn plan on making any use of him or selling him they don't want his career ended by us working him when he should be recovering).

Wasn't BBB Northern Spirit's highest goalscorer in their history, despite only playing part of the season and being meant to play as a reserve/sub?

I think Blackburn are looking at offers in the region of £600k for him and I would have thought that if he went out on loan again it would need to be to a div 1 club.

Sidwell would be good again, although I thought that we were told that he couldn't come back last season (and also that there was no chance of a permanent deal).

Our chances for the season can't really be looked at properly until we see who Wally can get in.

Steve Sidwell

he was player of the season as well..

He scored plenty of goals alright, but in all of the games I saw he should have easily had a hatrick!

Having said that it obviously did his confidence no harm!

He was a half-time substitute for Arsenal last night.

Yes, but he still won't start for them this season will he?

While we're at it we should pick up that Barrett character on loan too! Sounds like a decent striker, who again won't be playing much next season!

bring back big ben burgess he is a proven scorer at this level and is a good skillful target man who can score 20 goals. no doubt about his skills we need him and he would like to put right what happened in the play off final.

He'll be back alright. But only when we play stockport. He signed for them a couple of weeks ago :(

Steve Sidwell

Has Sidwell gone anywhere? I noticed in the SubStandard recently that he's not part of their tour squad despite them taking quite a few youngsters, which would maybe indicate they were prepared to loan him out again.

Steve Sidwell

Bad news, but could have been a lot worse.

At least he has gone to the Belgian side, and not one of our second division rivals.

Steve Sidwell

I did actually post the news of Steve's move 2 weeks ago on the "Sidwell returns" thread. I believe there have been transfer enquiries from a few premiership teams, and a loan enquiry from a 1st division team. It will be interesting to see how Steve's career develops, and I wish him well for the future.

That's why I can't believe Winger has signed another midfielder. You could have seen Sidders getting a few games against the weaker Premier teams like F*lham, B*rmingham and WBA and few other games.

Steve Sidwell

It appears Sidwell had returned from Belgium on the 8th, could he be lined up for a loan move in this country, or more than likely someone is willing to spend some spondoolies on him.

Steve Sidwell

theres plenty of decent young players out there in the reject pile of Premiership teams. I'm not worried. I'm sure Wally will be able to find more players as good as Sidewell and BBB

From the Beveren official website (handily, it's in English!)
Arsenal player Steven Sidwell is no longer a member of the Beveren squad. According to Herman Helleputte the midfielder was not the reinforcement he hoped for. Furthermore Sidwell preferred to leave. The three other Gunners will stay in Beveren. Following a discussion with Wenger and Arsenal, they will be lent out until the end of the season. It is possible that another Gunner will join our squad on loan.
Is Sid missing Griffin Park? It's got to be worth asking, hasn't it?

Steve Sidwell

With the promise that was shown by the new players on Saturday just think what a side we could end up with if Sidwell did come back to us.

We have injuries already, and we may need some cover (although Siddy would be more than just cover here).

Come on Walley, get on the phone!
