Stockport...

looked to have secured their future financially by tapping into the huuuuuuge Chinese market... apparently they can expect to fill 60,000 seater stadiums on their next tour of China and have purchased a % of a Chinese club...

Why, oh why can Brentford not show such initiative when it comes to the survival of the club??... If f*cking Stockport can sell their turgid rubbish abroad then so can the Bee's...

Probably because we haven't got the money available to branch out that far.

I would imagine it would cost a lot of money, or at least a lot more than we can afford right now, in 'delegate' flights and hotels in the Far East, personnel to guage public opinion, buying a % of a Chinese club, increased shirt production etc etc.

Although the potential rewards may be great, I would have thought it's not a risk we can afford to take should it all fall flat on it's face.

300 million of 'em tune to watch the likes of Man City and Everton each week... not as if Stockers are rolling in the cash either... maybe the club cant afford to try... its just I get the impression they dont try much at all...

We have slightly more pressing issues at home like breaking even and trying to get the ground situation sorted out than to go out to China. Though worth a try, Stockport don't seem to be doing things in Shanghai and Beijing where the money's at. It is liasing with people over there though.

So anyone speak cantonese or mandarin? Maybe Korea would be a better bet, there are a couple of Koreans on here, don't know of any Chinese.

I think Africa would be another idea, choose a country and a club, hold trials in the major cities there, get some decent entertaining football being played at GP with a couple of african attacking players. Not the 'keepers after seeing the African Nations Cup :D:D

I learnt it at Uni in 1958-61. Got a chance to use it when living for four years in Hong Kong and Singapore and travelling on business in China and Taiwan for seven years.

Sorry but I know diddly-squat about Chinese football clubs

When I was living in Hong Kong a few years ago (late 90s) they had a small league going.

The top team was South China, but I don't know what's happened since then.

Happy Valley were my team when I was over there. They were rubbish and played in a horrible shade of mint green, but consisted mainly of fat expats, so drew my allegiance.
