Stuart Dallas - Old thread

Just watched his interview with WEB on Bees Player. Comes over as a really nice guy who has his head screwed on the right way,

...pity, would have been useful for back headers had this not been the case....

I like Dallas. He is direct ,:) has good close control :)and scores goals.:). Re his development, IMO a club in mid table would allow him games to develop him in real game time but we can't afford to do that as our ambitions don't allow us the luxury [ if you like ] of that approach. He should stay at Northampton for now as it's his best option for developing match fitness and getting used to the physical side of the game. If he continues to progress, I can see a situation where he could be recalled and pushing for a start later this season. The club must be impressed by the potential he shows in training or I can't see why a two year deal would have been offered.

Good post

The few times I've seen him in a bees shirt (Carlisle away being the last time I believe) I thought he was an excellent player. Great trickey pace and even better crossing.
What's happened to him?

.............on loan at Northampton apparently.............

Scores for Northampton.

Well played Stuart ..................scorer of winner today.

The lads showing he's got a good eye for goal. Three goals and a couple of assists so far. A good return and Northampton are showing gradual signs of improvement. Boothroyd should be sending a decent case of wine to Uwe and Warbs for Crimbo:)

Recalled from his loan at northampton fc
today.. boosting the squad over the new year
be like a new signing welcome back fella

:warbs: has previously said that he trusted Boothroyd as they worked together at Watford. I wonder if his sacking has anything to do with the recall.

Welcome to the club Stuart.

if he can regain the form of pre season he will have a big part to play.

I doubt it - don't see him being like Fergie penalising Peterbrough when they sacked Darren last time round (I think it was Peterbrough) by recalling ManU loanees - this has probably got more to do with Harris being injured

It was Preston, but yes you are probably right.

I think you are correct. No other reason to call him back.or harris may not be extending his loan spell.

Wonder if Boothroyd will turn up at GP as coach....

Welcome back Stuart, good news. I'm guessing Harris is out.

I believe that this is a good move from MW, especially given Kadeem's injury. Welcome back, young man!

Balders will be happy!

Yeh mate...you me and MW;). Welcome back Stew........

Useful option to have. Think we'll see Sam starting (he's done enough to warrant it) and Dallas will be an option on the bench.

Looks like Sam will be out with flu so assuming Harris out then between Dallas Grigg and Fillo for the wide left place. Personally I'd like to see Fillo be given an opportunity

He was hardly a "stand out performer" in a poor side anyway. I'd suggest, if we're to stay up, we need players to perform to a higher standard than Mr Dallas did during his loan spell.

Food for thought Balders from the Northampton fan site!
He may not be your new messiah!

His time may come and trust it will but for now Sam S is not a replacement for Kadeem. He may be a completely different option that works but personally strongly believe we need a pacey, left sided wide forward.
That as much as anything has been the secret of our recent success as while Harris blows hot and cold, the threat of delivery and pace from both sides has increased the attacking threat and problems for oppo defences

Could be a good opportunity for him now if Harris and Saunders are out. Think I'd like to see him get a start in one of the games over the festive period, however I do agree with some previous posters that Sam has done enough to warrant a start if he is fit to play.

But Sam, for all his good work, is never a winger - someone who will take on a full back and get past him. Clayton will give a left back some concern but we certainly need a left-side winger as well. With Dallas, Saunders and Clayton we have three different right-footed players.

That's my take as well, Sammy a very important impact player but never an option over time playing out of position with his lack of pace.

A good player will not necessarily play to his potential if he is surrounded by poor quality team mates. Northampton are bottom so we have to assume there isn't much quality in their side. It's not unreasonable to consider he will play better and to his potential in a quality team like ours although likely to be an impact sub only I expect

I've seen enough of him to know he has talent.

Agree re. Sam but have to say that, with the exception of his first game, Kadeem very rarely went past anyone. He did occupy at least two defenders for much of the time so I am not doubting his overall value to the team in that he freed up space for others but he flattered to deceive the vast majority of the time. No doubt he will eventually be a very good player but at the moment it's very much potential rather than actual.

..............rarely went past anyone??????..........really?????????did you see him play much?????????..............

Season ticket holder and also go to vast majority of away games - so, yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I kind of agree that he didn't do it often enough but he carried a threat and occupied defenders so worth playing that formation if we have a wide left sided forward available.
He's young and inconsistent and his first ten minutes seem to determine if he has a decent or poor game.
Shrewsbury, Crawley and Staines, he got a flying start and grew on confidence and was a constant threat for an hour.
Wolves, Posh and Oldham he was anonymous as defenders let him know very early they were there!
What I do believe is we need that type of player out wide but wouldn't be unhappy if it wasn't Harris.

I would say he goes past players using close ball control rather than pace and strength. He certainly got past a few Preston players.

Agree, the real tragedy is that he got injured attempting to go past a third PNE defender having already past two others - as I said to my mate that's sod's law, first time he beats a player for six games and he gets crocked! Also agree we need someone with similar talents out there but, as you say, definitely not gutted if it's not Kadeem.

So, at PNE, he didn't get past the number 7 and whip in a presentable cross that Clayton put over; our first decent opportunity in the game? Then, our second opportunity, he didn't cut inside, past their midfielder, and take a shot himself?

Not sure what any of this has got to do with Stuart Dallas tbh.

True, got carried away whilst discussing Harris who I happen to consider very much over rated, apologies. Think Dallas still short of what's required at our present level and more suited right side than left and believe we need to loan/sign a left winger.
