Stuart Dallas - Old thread
Was very pleased for Stuart last night (missed the Notts game). What most impressed me was the way he settled into the game like he already had 50-odd starts under his belt. Sure, a few touches went astray at times, but usually with young players new to the side, they end up dashing around like headless chickens, try to do too much, run into blind alleys, over-exert themselves in the first hour, then have nothing left for the finish etc etc.
Whereas Stuart combined with his teammates very well throughout, tracked back when needed, was rarely rushed and can clearly follow tactical instructions eg prepared to hug the touchline to draw defenders out and create space for teammates, or switch wings with Judgey, to confuse their defenders etc.
The only disappointment for me was that he seemed to snatch at a couple of scoring chances. Which is strange, because when he was at Crusaders, he had a name as a goalscoring winger, who got (more than) his share. Having missed a couple of chances recently, when coming on as sub, maybe he's just unusually nervous?
In which case, probably all he needs is his first one in a Bees shirt, to set him on his way.

He is really starting to show why he came to us so highly rated
