For the last month he has probably been our best player. One of the few that put in a performance at Colchester and had another good game yesterday. Looks like he will be having a lot of European city breaks with his pal Will.

Anyone got a link to FL paper because bet365 are refusing to pay out on Dallas first goal

Stuart Dallas - Old thread

It was, even on the BBC goals thing last night they said Trotta when Dallas booted it in and Trots ran over to congratulate him. Lazy journalism.

Correct, Very Lazy journalism, I've Just paused and replayed it a few times on Sky, it was a Dallas goal without a doubt, Trotta was a couple of yards away.

Tell them to watch The Football League show and Sky, there is no doubt that Dallas scored the 1st goal, The Football League show's now being shown on BBC iplayer.

Surely the official football club report on the OS would be sufficient?

I've actually just checked it, and even they have it as "Trotta"

http://www.brentfordfc.co.uk/news/article/brentford-v-stevenage-03.05.14-1524453.aspx Dallas here.

http://www.brentfordfc.co.uk/fixtures-results/match-report/ click on Match Stats - Trotta here.

That's the point I spent half an hour with them on their live chat thing last night told them to watch the FL show who promptly announced it as Trotta and then they directed me to our match report and Stevenages match report which both said Dallas in the text but Trotta elsewhere.
They won't budge it's £110 they owe me . Ridiculous

Contact the club. I am sure they will issue you with something to say they made an error on the official site and it was Dallas not Trotta.

Yeh will do that, seems to be the only way but very unimpressed by the rudeness of Bet365 staff, eg ' we will not be in a position to review this settlement again' blah blah blah.

Just a polite way of telling you to go forth and multiply is that. Shoddy service indeed.

We signed Dallas for next to nothing, he's only 22 and one of the better attacking players in L1 on current form. Great bit of business by the bees to get him in.

Stuart Dallas - Old thread

Two years hard graft behind the scenes have allowed him to 'just appear'. A great prospect and evidence that hard work and patience pays off.

And lets hope there are many more to follow ? The whole set up we seem to have from the first team down through all the levels, looks to be of Premier league standard. Much more going on at little old Brentford than many realise.

On the FL show, it is clear that that the scorer isn't Trotta, who is seen congratulating Dallas a couple of seconds after he scores. Unfortunately, having tried to freeze the action to make the number 15 on Dallas's shirt visible when he hits the shot, I can't seem to get the number to appear clearly, but if you try often enough you may be able to. That would then surely be enough to convince them, I would have thought.

Its clear to me its Dallas on the footage, you can see the 15 on his shorts. Plus, you also see Marcello go to him to celebrate.

It needs Chris Wickham to put something on the website like he did earlier in the season against Peterborough when a goal was originally credited to Saville, but it was clearly Grigg and an official statement from the club said it was Grigg. I believe in the Football League the club concerned have the say on who a goalscorer is.

Hopefully next season PA will supply a reporter who can tell the difference between the players!

Fair enough - for some reason, I didn't think about looking at the shorts!!

Edited to add: After a few more efforts at stopping the video, you CAN, at one point, see the number on the back of his shirt clearly enough when he scores. The number can also be seen (on the sky coverage on youtube per the link in the match report thread, post 73) when he turns round whilst being congratulated by other players.

I love how hard he works! I imagine he will still be in-and-out the team next year, but he has really shown what an asset he is in the last 4/5 games.

You know not to place any more bets with them in future, failing that why not go and sort Ray Winstone out!!!!!

This lad has a very big future. Very impressed with his progress.

Sympathise entirely, JT, and there's no excuse for rudeness from Betfair staff, but it's very possible that their Rules state somewhere that they pay out on the basis of the PA Report or somesuch. (In the old days, I think the bookies used to go by what it said in the News of the World the following day?)

Anyhow, they will have paid out to anyone who backed Marcello to score the first goal.

But you shouldn't give up - I'm sure the club will ensure that the Football League records are correct, and you can use that to appeal. In fact, since £110 is sod-all to them, if you kicked up a big enough fuss, Betfair could even use a "goodwill" payout to you to show what "good guys" they are.

Another way of distinguishing is that Trotta wears bright orange boots, whereas Stuart's boots are black with white flashes.

And the TV footage clearly shows the scorer in white/black boots, not orange.

Ealing bee why would betfair by paying out on 365 bets and giving away free bets because your dissatisfied with the customer care of another company??

I am in the same situation with Bet365 as well (see Gambling forum - football bets) They will have to pay out in the end but are being ridiculous. If they keep messing about will contact the Betting Ombudsman to sort them out.

I thought the rule was first goalscorer is determined as the man who is read out over the PA. So you may need to have a word with Peter Gilham!

Stuart Dallas - Old thread

Goalscorer betting is a constant source of controversy and you could pick from dozens of examples down the years, but there was a landmark case in 2000 which finally forced bookmakers into action. At a meeting initiated by the Independent Betting Arbitration Service (IBAS), all major firms agreed to abide by the judgement of Britain's main news agency, the Press Association (PA), for disputed goals.
It's THAT PA! Interestingly, the case was brought after a deflected goal from a David Weir shot!

Sorry, wrote "Betfair" instead of "Bet365".

Don't know how I'm going to live with myself - I can only hope 'JTofBFC' hasn't been badgering the wrong bookie as a result.

On the mobile version can you just confirm how many lines you have written above on the computer version? Thanks

They have finally paid me now . Happy days. Thanks for all your concern and hopefully paulmaddy gets the same result !!

Late Kick Off London also credited the goal to Trotta. To be honest, so did I at the time largely because I didn’t see it clearly and took the scoreboard at face value, which definitely said Trotta. I also didn’t hear the announcement. Well done Stuart, credit where it’s due and I’m glad it got sorted out officially.

Will the bookies now have to pay out on those that backed Dallas to score first, having already(by now) paid out on Trotta as he was originally credited with the first goal?

Stuart Dallas - Old thread

Refers to 'a reporting error in the live text coverage', although PG's announcement and the scoreboard might have had something to do with it. It also looked a bit as if Trotta was claiming it for himself at one point.

Ha I did wonder from the highlights that it didn't look like Trotta but didn't really question it.

Stuart Dallas - Old thread

Welwyn Hatfield Times reporting from a Stevenage point of view said it was Dallas' goal in their match report, by their reporter who was at GP.

Stuart Dallas - Old thread

Excited to see where his progression goes from here.
Arguably one of the best players in the last half dozen games.

Stuart Dallas - Old thread

Warburton shunted Donaldson around to accommodate Dallas in the right attack position to great effect. He used the ball well, had some great shots and scored. It bodes well for the future.

Stuart Dallas - Old thread

Good stuff! Do you know what it was that finally convinced them to pay out?

Think it was the footage from the clubs Official youtube I sent them although the club did also helpfully send me a confirmation of the correct scorer which I didn't need in the end. Think I might steer clear of first goalscorer bets next year, its a mugs game . (famous last words)

I've long been an advocate of SD and thought he looked like he was going to break into the team early in the season given some promising pre season displays against Cardiff and Millwall. Didn't really happen for one reason or another but a loan spell at Northampton and a couple of injuries and a large dollop of faith from MW have resulted in some excellent contributions over the last half dozen games or so. He's very much a work in progress but I like his directness and eye for goal and have hopes that he can continue this progress into the Championship, I'm glad he signed a long deal this season:sorted::sorted:

I think you're a tad unfair actually. I think he'll tear up the Championship.

I thought he looked a bit nervous earlier in the season, at least when it came to his finishing - he snatched at a few chances.

But whatever's behind it, he has been much more assured in the final few games of the season. For example against Stevenage, not only did he score and have that cracking effort which Day tipped onto the bar, but I'm pretty sure it was his shot from distance which hit a defender, before falling to Clayton for that miss (when it was still 0-0).

Very encouraging.

Stuart Dallas - Old thread

Stuart has made great progress this season, grew in confidence when he got a run in the side towards the end of the season. Reckon he'll adapt quickly to Championship football next season.

Nothing unfair about that comment at all. He has performed well in a handful of games at the end of this season. Consitency is judged over a much longer period than that. In fact, if he hadn't scored the tap in on Saturday then his overall performance would probably not have even been mentioned as he wasn't great.

I think he will be a good asset over time and would love to see him be a major part of this side but not sure you can say on evidence of a handful of League 1 apps that he will 'tear up the Championship'!

purely my opinion of course but I think he'll be a major player for us next season. The fact that MW put faith in him for the run in speaks volumes. I think he's got the right attributes to be a dangerous and maybe overlooked weapon.

Yep I can go along with that. He's shown enough in the last half dozen games to give great cause for optomism for next season in the Championship. Just don't think we should go ovrboard and burden the lad with too much expectation. I have got high hopes though.
