strong rumouir at the game today is that nelson has gone to swindon on a season long loan. don't believe that one can recall from such a loan, so need a new keeper for the next game.

Stuart Nelson

I thought something sounded very fishy as to why Masters started and Nelson suddenly had an 'injury'. If this is Nelson throwing his rattle and dummy out for being dropped, then good riddence to him.

Stuart Nelson

When does a club loan out their first choice keeper?

Exactly. I'm struggling with the logic of this one. I would hope that another goalie is lined up. Less than two months ago, we weren't certain whether or not Masters was ready for 1st team football. I can't believe we're now going to push him as the only senior keeper on the books.

Stuart Nelson

Well for starters Clarke is facing a ban of at least a couple of matches

Stuart Nelson

The only other option within the club is Seb Brown.

Warner was the keeper who was hours away from joining us for the 1st game. Went somewhere else at the 11th hour.

Really? He is a very good GK, he played a few games for Leeds but had to go back to Fulham due to GK crisis. I rate him ver highly.

bardiff signed Warner from Millwall, he left for money so what chance do we have???...>none<

Great News I hope its true    :jester: :hat: :jester:

Yeah let him go. let Mousinho stay in goal

Only jokin. Stuart come back we need you

I am in Spain just picking up on all this.

First question - is Nelson out of contract at the end of this season or does he have another year

Is loaning him out (assuming this is true) a cost saving exercise, a kick up the arse or a precurser to trying to sell him/give him away

If we are reduced to loaning a first choice player to a team (also skint) in a division below us just so that they pay his wages and then hopefully take him off our hands on a free at season's end then we are more fuuucked than I thought we were

Same here, trying to understand the reasoning. I dont rate Nelson but think this looks like a very foolish decision at first glance.

Stuart Nelson

Whatever the goalkeeping situation. Leroy will be busy this week trying to sort it out.

For the first choice keeper, Nelson, to be put out on loan (surprisingly?), suggests that the management are looking to offload him.

Either there has been a bust up, or Leroy is fed up with Nelson's mistakes an' kicking.

leroy may be trying to do a steve mclaren and prove that hes bigger than all the players. didnt work for mclaren though and wont work for leroy

1) Contract expires June 30 2007.

2) Worry ye not. Signy will no doubt be on here soon telling us how wonderful everything is and we'll all feel a lot, lot better........

Thanks for the info.

This is one where we all get our knickers in a twist until the truth emerges.

Maybe Nelson is still at GP, missed thegame through injury and will be OK to play next week when Masters is suspeended - and it should just be a 1 game ban for a professional foul , not 3 as others have posted.

Beyond that, who knows. My previous questions still stand about LR's motives should the loan story be true.

Don't think he had "gone"... he was watching from the tunnel. But why would he go to Swindon on loan :(?

My understanding is that the "deal" was on but has not been completed and that the Masters sending off may change things.

Interesting..... but if LR had contemplated loaning Nelson to Swindon then the sending off should not change matters as assuming he did go then we are always a sending off (as occured today) or injury away from needing yet another keeper.

It seems that LR has decided that nelson is not the keeper for him, he has a potentially promising replacement in Masters and can also reduce the wage bill.

If that IS his reasoning then today's events should not stop him proceeding and he should have the courage of his convictions.

If the loan now does not happen then it will also

1. be interesting to see Nelson's reaction in his next game - presumably at Oldham

2. be interesting to see who is in goal in the next game when Masters is eligible to play.

Stuart Nelson

thrown toys out after been told he aint playing today, what a disgrace, but qwho is there to come in?

barthez???

Stuart Nelson

bloke called in to BBC London and said the word was that Nelson had chucked his toys out after being told he wasn't starting today and walked out on the club...

Just another rumour though so who knows... I guess the truth wil come out in the next few days.

Stuart Nelson

Didn't Allen have problems with Nelson last season? I know Allen wanted a new keeper near the end of the season.

Stuart Nelson

If he had thrown his toys out and refused to be on the bench, then surely he would have been told to go home and stay at home, wouldn't he? Not appear in his dapper Brentford suit and watch the game

Stuart Nelson

I guess everyone on here knows Nelson was at the game today, he was standing in the players tunnel during the match.

Nelson and Dapper are not words I would use in the same sentence:nono:

Stuart Nelson

Rumour around Brook Road upper was that he has had a bust up even not turned up for training.....!!

Stuart Nelson

Heard the rumour but can't quite believe it. Nelson is one of the few players whose stuck by the club and shown passion, and with the greatest respect to Seb Brown why would we loan one of our two professional keepers out unless he abosuletly hit the roof - it just doesn't add up

Stuart Nelson

Sounds very odd.. If Leroy has had a bust up with Nelson is he cutting his nose of to spite his face?

Stuart Nelson

Isn't he club captain?

I know it's a fairly meaningless appointment, but LR made it only three months ago. What's caused the falling out?

We certainly have some problems, but Nelson as keeper is fairly low on the priority list. Does this mean that Nelson has forced the issue?

Stuart Nelson

Leroy's interview on BBC London he said "we didn't have a keeper on the bench due to injury", someone 'phoned in later to say that he'd just seem Nelson leaving GP.

I don't know how these rumours start but they're a bit silly IMHO.

Stuart Nelson

We heard from posters that had been to the Training Ground that Nelson had an "ankle injury" 15 minutes after being told he wasn't playing today.

If it was a ploy of Nelson's to be "injured" rather than "dropped" it's backfired enormously. He could have been between the sticks today. Reading between the lines I believe that Leroy doesn't believe the injury story; and doesn't want someone that invents injuries when their place is challenged. Leroy has then displayed strong management and let Nelson join his flatmate at Swindon.

This is all speculation of course.

However it seems certain that a deal was agreed with Swindon. Masters's sending off may change that in the short term.

Stuart Nelson

I'm not sure that being unable to keep the miniscule squad we have all happy is "strong management". If the below is accurate I'd describe it as "starting to lose respect of the players" myself.

Stuart Nelson

Nelson has had a great deal of support from the football club. He became a first team regular straight from non-league and has been supported despite some ropey performances. I happen to think that he's a good keeper, but if he throws the toys out the first time he's under threat, then  .

The truth will out in due course, no doubt.

Stuart Nelson

Let me add that I'm also not extremely impressed by not having the youth keeper even ready as a sub, if he knew yesterday that Nelson wouldn't dress.
