Supersubs

I was reminded the other day of David Fairclough and his role as "Supersub" when he would often come off the bench and make a rreally telling impact for the Scallies.
Got me trying to remember if we've had any "Supersubs" at G.P.? I'm not sure if Bob Booker counts:rolleyes:, any other suggestions?

Your lords, ladies and gentlemen I give you Denny Mundee circa 1993 or there abouts coming off the bench to score a hat trick against Bristol Rovers at home.

No further questions your honour, no further questions.

No the one before, lost 3-1 at Ewood and were 3-1 down at home. We then scored 3 to get back to 6-5 but couldn't quite force another one. Less than 4000 but one of the best atmospheres i can remember. 82-3 i think.

Supersubs

Oh yeah 82-3 was the one before the one before.

82-3 Bees 3-2 Rovers
rovers 0-0 Bees (alamo) hooray

88-9 Rovers 2-0 Bees
Bees 4-3 Rovers Boo although revenge was sweet later that season!!

96-7 Rovers 2-0 Bees
Bees 1-2 rovers

You can't forget Alex Rhodes coming off the bench vs Bournemouth in 2004.

Kevin Rapley also used to be a useful sub.

Didn't Mark Jenner (sp?) come on as a sub in his first (and last) ever league game, score a goal with his first ever touch in league football and then return to Spurs never having played for us again?

He wasnt a sub, we we were 3.1 down at half time and he scored in the first half. He then scored twice to bring it to 3.3 and then they got the winner.

Back to the drawing board.

Supersubs

Jamie Fullerton at Notts County under Wally. 2-0 down and we were dire. on comes Fullerton as a late 2nd half sub and only an injury time miss by Vine stops us winning 3-2. He drove us on and although I really was sh!tfaced I left thinking we had made a superb signing.lol

Surely the term supersub is only deserved when a player makes a reputation of consistently coming of the bench to change a game. There must be thousands of players who have done well after coming of the bench at least once in their lives.

Supersubs

A half fit Joe Allon came off the bench against Barnsley in 1993, scored, and was then himself substituted I think.

Supersubs

mark peters vs QPR

mark williams

Williams was great when what was required for the last five minutes was to hold the ball in the corner. Can't remember him doing much else though.

Bryan was good for running at tired defenders. (Apart from his rather sad last appearance as sub in the free game against Peterborough.)

They were the two players I can remember regularly being used as subs, and hardly ever starting (no doubt someone will have the figures). But not really supersubs I think.

Supersubs

Bury at home 1990. Gary Blissett and Allan Cockram. They both came on at 0-2 down , both scored in last 10 mins to get us a draw.

That was what I really meant, but all the memories do :sorted:make good reading though.

Supersubs

Richard Cadette spent quite a bit of time as a sub when we bought deano. always felt optimistc when he came on.

Supersubs

In his spell at Brentford Tabb made 114 starts for Brentford and 42 appearances from the substitutes bench scoring 24 goals for the Bees. His passion for the club made him a fans favourite at the club and a cult hero.

Supersubs

Only Derek Bryan - as was said above, he was good for running at tired defenders - he also had a very good cross:seem to recall he turned a couple of games round that way.
