Sidwell passed back, Andy Booth turned Dobson (I think) and shot for goal, Smudger had it and then lost it. 5 Seconds silence 9no, it probably wasn't that long) behind the Brook Road end and the distant cheer of xxxX udders fans......and then "THERE'S ONLY ONE Paul Smith". That was brilliant, Brook Rod Terrace. As someone else has said tonight on this site, you lads are one of the three key reasons we've had such a good season. The vocal support. Who engineered the return to the Wendy House? Whoever it was deserves colossal credit for galvanising Bees support. Huge change in atmosphere from previous seasons where support was dissipated...and getting pissed upon whenever it rained (Ealing Road). Well done to that person. You've contributed to this season's success - whoever you are.

There is only one Paul Smith!

One mistake does not detract from how well Smiffy has done this season.

He will achieve great things in Division One next season.

Well done Smiffy!

Believe! The Bees ARE goin' up!

Sounds like what happened to Phil Whitehead in the home game v Peterborough (penultimate game of the season) who just let a 25 yarder go straight through his hands. Keep faith with him - things like that only happen once in a blue moon (thankfully!)

Yes it was a clanger and what a time and match to do it, a momentary lack of concentration I guess. He was clearly crestfallen and I was worried it might affect him but the way he picked himself up (helped by the crowd) and then had a faultless performance for the rest of the game said bucketloads about his ability and inner strength.

He will no doubt learn from it and become a better keeper because of it. Lets face it, it was the first real mistake he has made all season. IMHO the most improved player this year along with Lloyd.

Although it was a bad error I do not think you can totally blame Smudger as we lost the ball in attack and Sidwell after making a great tackle gave the ball away neelessly. Both players will learn from this as they are young. Smudger has been consistent, the support us fans gave him was superb and he appreciated it. Lets forget as it did not matter anyway

Smith will become one of the best keepers in the Nationwide in a few years time.
Fair play to the bloke for keeping his nerve after the blunder and for that he should be awarded the man of the match award alone. Brave as they come.
What he needs to do now is come and catch the first ball in the Millenium - That's his best attribute!

It may just have been me, but I thought it wasn't just us that went silent as that ball went in.
It seemed that even the Huddersfield fans were silent for a few seconds as they questioned what they had just seen.

Did anyone else think their celebrations seemed rather delayed?

Smith was quite simply fantastic.

I kept looking at his body language. One minute later, two........it bordered on the arrogance of "It wasnt me".

That is JUST what the team needed. There was NO head down. Paul Smith's attitude and confidence was simply outstanding.

He gave the team confidence. He gave ME and, no doubt, OTHER fans confidence. So much so that I text my girlfriend after 10 mins to say "Thats what we needed". Smudgers body language told me that!!

You are going right to the top Paul.  :) ;)
