I bunged this in the wrong thread earlier.

I've run a sweep stake at work between 16 of us.
Pound a team, 2 teams each, but the teams are divided in to a top 16 and bottom 16 according to fifa rankings.
Each person picks one from each and half the pot goes to whoever picks the winning team and the other half to whoever picks the worst team.

Just got Brazil and Nigeria
Everyone seems more intent on picking the worst team then the winners, those with North Korea and New Zealand are happier then those with Spain and Argentina.
I suppose it easier to be the crapest then the best. In fact i think Gillingham have that written in on the walls of their dressing room.

My work place have shockingly done a sweepstake.
It has been done a similar way to you but we put £2 in.

Here at Social Services, £1.50 in. £30 for the winner, £12 for Runner Up, £3 each for semi finalists. All tickets sold, pretty good considering only 2 men working in the whole building. Fair play a lot of the girls took part even though they hadnt got a clue if they got a good team or not!

I got Spain! Well chuffed!

Consequently, i now have Spanish corner at work, nice Spanish flag, with pictures on the wall of King Juan Carlos, David Villa, Penelope Cruz, and Manuel from Fawlty Towers!
