T20 World Cup

England squad announced this morning

Morgan
Ali
Billings
Buttler
Dawson
Finn
Hales
Jordan
Rashid
Root
Roy
Stokes
Topley
Vince
Willey

Some pretty monster batting in there.

Bowling seems heavily reliant on Finn being fit and Rashid being our trump card.

Mr Harris are you able to give an inside track on Liam Dawson? Have you worked with him?

we're gonna win it again i reckon !

T20 World Cup

Definitely on with a chance. T20 is all a bit arbitrary though - any team that wins will need some luck.

Yep agreed.

On the format. 2 groups, 2 to qualify for knockout semi final.

England
South Africa
Sri Lanka
West Indies
Qualifier

Australia
New Zealand
India
Pakistan
Qualifier

Reckon England have a decent, decent chance - They won't fear anyone. A favourable group and plenty of chance for Aussie/Indian heavyweights to run into trouble in other group and knock each other out

T20 World Cup

Jordan is still fairly inexplicable

otherwise pretty cool. not worth taking too seriously, it's just for fun, you can only give it your best shot and see if it comes off on the day

That second group loks unbelievably awesome, and soe heavyweights aren't going to make it.

I have coached with him, but never coached him.
A top bloke that loves his cricket, seems to have pushed on this year after a few years of mediocre cricket.
Can bat anywhere and will give us an option with his left arm spin.
Will probably be between him and Rashid for the spinners place

T20 World Cup

Totally underwhelmed with a game that's a cross between rounders and baseball,

T20 World Cup

How does Jordan still get picked?

I don't think I have ever seen him have a decent game for England.

Ok thanks. Reckon he will get a chance as I'm not sure how much Eng fancy Moeen Ali in this format and if his bowling is good he potentially brings in more than Vince/Billings. I think Rashid will play.

Agree on Jordan too. Ask any team who they would like to see on an England team sheet and they'll fancy right arm skiddy fast medium Jordan.

T20 World Cup

I honestly cant see Daws playing much as he is down the pecking order - Rashid has the place to lose and Ali, Root will fill in.
My eleven would be -
Hales
Vince
Root
Morgan
Stokes
Buttler
Ali
Rashid
Finn
Topley
Willey.

We are ridiculously short on quick bowling, honestly cant believe Broad isn't going as Finn is injury prone, Jordan isn't good enough and Topley,Willey are pretty inexperienced

That's a good point. There had to be fall guys after the world cup and I'm totally in favour of Broad/Anderson not featuring in ODI cricket for England. That said I notice Broad is out in SA carrying drinks! As you say even just in the squad as a replacement for Finn.

T20 World Cup

Whatever ever happened to Dernbach? Now there was a seriously overrated player.

I think they realised their mistake seeing as he could only bowl 10 ball overs.
So much variation that he didn't know how to bowl a straight one

T20 World Cup

Jordan the weak link. Brilliant fielder but that's it.
Let's hope Finn stays fit.

Had a good slower ball, but when you bowl it six times an over, it loses its surprise eliment (sp)

T20 World Cup

Luke Wright should have been in instead
Better batsman, equal fielder, equal bowler

it's just a shame that Wright has never got it going in an England shirt - his time has pretty much gone now. great little player but it never quite clicked :(

Dawson will be there for the spinners' wickets - they seem to have gone off Root as a bowling option. pretty useful having three capable spinners who can smack it around too.

T20 World Cup

I know this starts tomorrow, but i really cant be bothered by it!

T20 World Cup

Slide your bat in mate.

:nono:

T20 World Cup

Its sad really, i love my cricket but a few things have happened (work related) that have made me resent it a bit.

in the same boat here, alas

That's a shame.

The business part of the tournament coincides with international break which I always find a struggle. Sure it will be good.

T20 World Cup

Its not what you know with a certain county board, its definitely who you know.

shame. much lower scale here, but far too many ****ers involved. waste of my time, so will spend my time elsewhere. you'll probably see some spectacular "toys out of the pram" on facebook later!

Its got to the stage where my son is nearly old enough for me to get a "proper job" again, so am seriously thinking about ending the coaching.
Sad really as the New Forest only has 3 coaches that work for Hampshire - and that looks like it will go down to one by September, although the one is the one they have spent all their time with, giving all the work to etc, and is nowhere near as well respected by others or experienced as the other two

T20 World Cup

What a start.

India bowled out for 79,as NZ win by 47 runs.

T20 World Cup

Where is Indian bee???

T20 World Cup

England 92 for 1. 11 overs.

92 for 2......

T20 World Cup

In this format of the game where each delivery is very important (there's only 6x20 = 120) there is a hefty sanction for delivery of a no-ball (an extra ball (free hit)). I also note that there is a small marking some 8-10ft behind the wicket where the umpire is expected to stand - not an ideal place to judge a front-foot no-ball. So why isn't every delivery reviewed by the 3rd umpire? This wouldn't take him long and he could watch a camera on the popping-crease in real time - most close calls could be reviewed in a matter of seconds therefore without affecting the pace of the match.

You still in Banking Banana?

T20 World Cup

I love this tournament probably because they play it in 2 weeks and not 2 months like the 50 over version. Even went to Sri Lanka for the 2012 version.

T20 World Cup

Buttler goes after a few good hits. :(

152 for 4. 2 overs to go.

Or one week if you are England

We lasted 10 days even saw us win against New Zealand!! We met the standards cricket correspondent who was delighted when we were out as he was going to be abroad for about 5 of the next 6 months. Then KP got reintergrated and as he was in Sri Lanka as a pundit (he was terrible Warneesq talking about commentators shoes etc) he had to stay as the England management stayed on to meet him there. We ended up going the day after the final and he was still there.

T20 World Cup

Good total. Sti thinking batting is our strength. Two wicket takers in Willey and Topley but both can go for runs. Spinners will be important. As for Jordan every time i write him off he delivers an amazing spell.

T20 World Cup

Doubt 180ish is enough with those small boundaries. I bet they bowled a few undetected no-balls too

T20 World Cup

Oh **** me Sky have KP as a pundit this time.
