Team for Ipswich

Couple more injuries so this is what i think.

Bentley

Clarke
Dean
Egan
Elder

Woods
Niko

Saunders
KK
Lewis M

Hogan

Need so legs in but theres no reason why that team cant at least grab a point.

We are going into our 3rd game of the season and this is seemingly our strongest side. The lack of depth in the squad is really going to punish us this season. I can't see who else we have that could make this line up any stronger apart from maybe Ledesma for Saunders?

Barbet, Sawyers, Bjelland, Vibe, Colin and might help us out a bit plus any new signings coming in during the next 21 days but if you don't agree then so be it.

Ledesma wont be fit enough. But we do have options but they are injured atm.

I do agree, however if we start poorly even when these important players come back we will be in bad form and I imagine will take a while to turn it around (confidence and morale).

Then a few months down the line and we could be unfortunate with more injuries and we will be back in the same position again.

Saunders played 120 minutes yesterday after 40 on Saturday, I doubt he'll start. Let's hope for some returning from the treatment room.

So what is your answer, 33 playing squad of championship experience?
My concern is the amount if injuries we pick up in training. If we lost loads during games I could understand a little more. Is there something we are doing wrong in training?

Well we will have to rest Hogan in one of the 3 league games coming up as apparantly he can't play 3 games in 8 days so it might as well be this one . Too risky against those nasty tractor boys . I think we should just pick the 11 largest fellas from the paddock and throw the game and break a few legs.

I wonder who they'll try and break this time? I don't suppose there's any chance of a kevlar kit just for this one game.

Our squad just is not strong enough

Will Barbet be fit?

I'd definitely play Bentley, Woods and Hogan and probably most of those from last Saturday if the injured are still injured. McEachran might be the one to drop.

Defo not competitive enough for me for defensive midfield.

We desperately need a Jota type player - looking at that group. Hopefully Judge will be back sooner than expected.

I have not seen them live this season however I do share you concern re the amount of injuries. I can only ask the same question I asked last year are they fit enough? Yes, they have all completed pre season but was there sufficient fitness input involved? Very often frequent injuries (all types) are related to being unfit. I am not in a position to add anything to a discussion but would be interested to hear from those who have watched live matches.

Wouldn't be surprised though to see McEachran start ahead of Nico given the latter played 120mins on Tuesday which he wasn't really ready for. The lack of pace from the wings is obvious and will likely be addressed in the transfer market soon I guess. Slightly concerned also about the ball playing abilities of Egan and Dean, as I expect Ipswich's forwards to get right in their faces and try and disrupt our build up, as Milwall did so successfully in pre-season. I want to see Sawyers central as while I don't mind MacLeod out wide from what I've seen Sawyers is wasted there while KK was poor at Huddersfield. Still, cautiously optimistic.:)

You obviously have not seen our squad list nor think any new arrivals will come in.

I think Clarke will (should) play. Hopefully Barbet will be ready, Holdack is versatile, but think Josh will play defensive mid and KK will start ahead of Sam given the 120 min on tues.

I don't have any hope that any further signings will come in.

I really can't see our squad competing for a play off spot considering the quality of the teams in the division this year. I would loved to be proved wrong of course but just can't see it.

I pray that we get at least 3 signings. A proper striker to cover Hogan, real ball winner in midfield and a winger if not we all be in the bloody asylum. (Also never question the GPG rosey mafia as they will eat you for breakfast:cool:).

Assuming no injured players are returned to the starting XI

It's a woefully poor back line but very little to play with until YB, AB and MC are back....

We have so little steal in the middle that we'll need Nico's tenacity in there. Have to hope there's enough tackling in Sawyers and Macleod to help out the holding players too, Ipswich are no mugs.

Struggling for width going forward atm so wing-backs is the only answer IMO. The third centre half will hopefully also help make up for the lack of steal in the middle. It is a tough ask for Holldack to play the whole match after 120 mins on Tuesday, so I would bring Clarke on in the second half.

Going forward, because the width is coming from the wing-backs it means we can use 2 from KK/Sawyers/Macleod. For me Macleod has to start - so it's out of KK and Sawyers. Sawyers edges it for me in a home game as he'll help us dictate play a bit more, KK is better for playing on the break and picking out a pass.

It's a weak team and it's not one we'll play but it would be my team. We're weak at the moment and we desperately need injured players back.

Well I'm looking at last 6 games of last season. It worked with a tougher central mid. Everyone on here agreed, including you I seem to remember? Tbh I was going for Woods on the right but feel Clarke will be better cover for Ipswich game.

So you pick a kid in centre mid who hasn't played there in the first team and was only used there in the Dev squad as there were already a couple of good centre backs, which is/was his stronger position as a youth. He then plays right back in friendlies and the league cup match. Yet you pick him over Woods! rofl rofl rofl

I give up but believe Ryan and Macca were the reason we won against Ipswich last season as became our dogs of war and took charge when we lost Judgey.
