Nice idea but I can't see it happening. I think there'll only be one change from hartlepool, with Wilson coming in for either Foster or Phillips. Neither deserve to be dropped imo.

Its not a case of who deserves to be dropped but bringing someone in who ill improve the teams chances of picking up 3 points. IMO Wilson has to play.

wrong....Phillips has been a better centre back in every game this season and should not be dropped. The fact is AS won't drop Bennett so it will be Foster who loses his place, he should have stayed at D&R where his ability was recognised.

i agree with you about phillips.
i was merely anticipating scott's selection

there is of course another option which would be to retain
foster-phillips-bennett-dickson across the back
and play wilson in midfield alongside bean

I'm beginning to think ur right. It's just not fair on Foster. In one week, out the next. Personally I'd **** Wilson off if possible. We now have strength iin depth now, with Osborne and Legge pushing for a place in the starting eleven.
I would give Bennett a rest and put Wilson in his place.

I know people will say why Saunders in the centre but I honestly believe he is not a natural right winger and if you look at the games he has played he all ways drift into the middle he never stays on the right flank. Also are centre of midfield is to defensive what do you think about Saunders in the middle with Bean?

He has for Dagenham and no not at this level but I honestly think he would be better at centre midfield and have a bit of creativity in the middle watch his next game he drifts around he wont stay on the right wing. He has also been far are best player so far this year

I think that 3 centre-backs in defence is stupid. Why not play Foster on the right and play Wilson and Bennett in the centre?

Same defence as Hartlepool,

Wilson is quality but Foster is actually ours and he needs to be shown that he'll retain his place on merit not get dropped at the first opportunity.

Talk of the defensive unit working well together and using Hartlepool as a stepping stone will mean nothing if you then go and change it for the next game

Because that would mean dropping Phillips who has been our best defender this year.

I would have thought he would want to be treated the same as all the other lads in the squad

There has been a lot of talk about whether Wilson has a loan deal whereby he supposedly must play. I cant imagine that andy scott would agree to such a caveat whereby in effect someone else is saying this lad plays no matter what. No way. But it must irritate Foster who has done nothing wrong. A settled back four is a must for any team and this season we do have options for most positions. However i cant imagine any player worth his salt being happy being replaced by a lad that doesnt even specialise in that position. I went to Hartlepool and we got a good point there but i dont think Scott was ever going to drop Bennett.Last season Scott tinkered with the right hand side often playing two different lads in successive games. Scott has in effect created his own selection problems by signing Taylor who is similar to Saunders and Weston who is similar to Wood. This may have been entirely his intention of course. I have thought all along that when we are able to field what Andy feels is his strongest eleven we will be more than capable in this league. Strevens injury was a big blow but he is not far away now. I am 100% behind Scott and Bully. Keep the faith.

I would agree with Dickson and Phillips and probably went over the top by saying far the best but if you look at him he always wants the ball and always looking to create or score he gets forward and back. The goals will come and still think he would be better in the centre with Bean

Fair enough...to give Saunders his due, he does at least always want the ball and do something with it, as opposed to shying away from it.

I'm not sure he'd be better in the middle but we'll agree to disagree on that one :sorted: :wave:

Why has AS got such a problem with central midfield, we got defenders, wingers and strikers coming out of every orifice but only two career midfielders and one utility striker/RB/mid.
I always thought that the playmaker position was central midfield, AS seams to think he can dispense with it, perhalps hes been talking to the Hungarians who are coming again with new ideas, if not the hungerians then its the Ancient Guild of Perpetual Wingers.

AS "JUST HAS" to accomodate Bennett, so I think he should play Wilson in goal and leave Bull and Price on the bench............just in case !!

Their dangerman imo is Townsend the winger on loan from Spurs so Foster or Wilson will have to be on their toes. Think he may stick with Foster, just a feeling i have no basis for that.
