I would like to think same team.

But if Colin is fit then bring him back in.

Fair enough, for me Egan has been in poor form and AB has looked very good next to Dean.

Think the pairing of AB and HD has worked well.

Egan has had at least a couple of indifferent games of late, particularly going forward, but at his best he will be back. AB puts it into touch with less fuss, stopping the marauding wingers building momentum. I've thought our defence needed a bit of that for a while now.

It's done alright. I don't think Bjelland has been flawless. I think Egan has been better as I say personally. It's a nice position to be in anyway with decent cover on the bench (whether it's AB or JE).

I like Egan but he has been a bit ropey for a few weeks, he is a very good defender who will get back into the side but since he got over to the right hand side and IMO he's not been at his best. It would be hard to drop either after the past 2 games, even with the 3 Brighton goals.

IMO Nico needs a rest. He didn't look right vs Brighton and didn't get in the game. McCormack for Nico to put a bit of steel in the mid and Colin for Clarke if fit.

Re Egan and Bjelland, I think we lose the ability to play the ball around at the back and attack on both sides with Egan. If we know a team is going to pump high balls at us, then Egan's probably the choice, but he's not one for going forward, choosing to pass to Dean which means we are very predictable. Egan's day will come (probably next time Harlee gets a yellow) but Bjelland gives us more quality.

The fitness team will be assessing Yennaris constantly, so it may be he's due a break, but I'd put Kerschbaumer in rather than McCormack; he's more of an attacking threat. I can't recall AMc actually touching a Brighton player in the few minutes he was on, Sunday.

Re your last sentence. Macca touched the ball a lot which is probably why he didn't touch a Brighton player :D IMO he was doing very well in mid until he had to cover for Tom. I do think Nico needs a rest.

Egans poor games have come during the 3 at the back experiment. In a back 4 he's been very good. I do worry about ABs lack of pace so would bring Egan in.

Colin too if fit. If not no worries about Clarke playing.

Any issue over Field seeing as he went off concussed on Sunday? Isn't there a rule about when you can next play?

Apart from that it picks itself.

A performance on par with the last 2 games would be nice.

Nico was closer to scoring than others and was constantly in the game. It's just stuff off the ball that can go unnoticed imho

It's opinions. He had one good shot and that sticks in the mind which is why stats are so important to get a true valuation. In the second half, as far as I could see, he wasn't winning any 50/50s, wasn't getting possession and was largely anonymous. IMO his injury is a problem and for me he wasn't at his game. We were getting overrun in mid and he was nowhere to be seen. I think Smith should have subbed him way before they got their equaliser as we needed some aggression in there.

He had a good game vs Villa-agreed. But IMO he has a problem. I gather he is managed between games and doesn't train fully. In that situation I think a rest would help him. IMO he didn't perform vs Brighton.

I realise AB looks a tad slower than the other defenders sometimes, do Preston have very fast strikers then?

I don't know what the nature and extent of the injury he's carrying is but assume that it is one which he and the club think is consistent with continuing to play at full pace for 90 minutes. As he played against Villa and Brighton we can conclude that the informed opinion of those who know is that he can manage even two closely spaced games and perform better than any of the other options to start in his position. In a way it would be worrying in those circumstances if he were to be rested as this would suggest a change in prognosis, whereas if DS were to opt for AMcC or KK for tactical reasons it would be understandable (and also an opportunity for rest which might be welcome regardless of injury).

Close call between Egan and AB but the Dean and AB pairing has looked very good recently. He looks the more complete player to me than Egan, especially when it comes to distribution. Close call too between Nico and Barbet but would be tough on Nico to drop him just now.

Egan in a flat back four was one of our best players, he suffered as did HD and AB in a back three. If fit then both Egan and Colin come in for me.

Snow will be called off because of THIS GAME this weekend!

Start with same team as v Brighton, assuming all fit e.g. Field fully OK after apparent concussion.
However, we need to ensure that if we're winning in last 25 minutes, that we have made all the subs changes early enough.

Agree that Nico has looked a bit tired towards the end of his stint in last few games. However, DS will know if he is fit enough, so will start him if he's alright.

Thorpe as sub for me. Second half sub - Thorpe for Connell. Which incidentally, was something I recall saying a lot.
