Barbet at left back as only change in back five, then -
McEachran Woods Yennaris
Sawyers KaiKai
Hogan
Macleod has not done much wrong, but needs a break, and I think we could benefit greatly in the longer term if we can get Josh firing. Worth trying IMO.
Does make you wonder if some people actually go to games doesn't it?"MacLeod not done much wrong"?
He's been brilliant. Joint leading assists in the league I think.

Sure, you are right, but he needs to be managed carefully. We have a big enough squad of sufficient quality to do this.
not sure MacLeod is going to get the experience he needs sitting on the bench.
Macleod is an attacking midfielder while McEachran is a holding midfielder; why would you think they are interchangeable? Not going to get any experience at all if we burn him out! I don't think he will drop to the bench but I can see the logic behind his post, especially given Josh has impressed off the bench last couple of games

Burn out after 7 games, not full games at that?

McEachran has looked good in his 2 sub appearances recently but I thought that Nico was not hitting the standards he set last season and could make way. Barbet is a better LB than Bjelland but we need to get Andreas in the team and playing regularly to justify his transfer fee.
I thought Smith would have tried 3 centre halves by now and could still do so with Newcastle coming up. So, to rest some and experiment with formation, I predict this line up v Wolves
Bentley
Dean, Egan, Bjelland
Colin, McEachran, Woods, Barbet
Macleod, Sawyers
Hogan.
Hasn't MacLeod had between Saturday 5pm and Saturday 3pm to rest?
He'll be training, but his workload will be managed by our medical team.
Should we be resting Hogan on the same basis?
Same team please. Barbet in if AB injured, which I suspect he might be.

I cannot see us changing to 3 at the back, our present system makes us one of the toughest teams to score against in the football pyramid. Therefore why change something that works
I understand the desire to get both Barbet and Bjelland in the team but at present Dean and Egan are performing extremely well as a CB pairing which leaves the argument of playing Bjelland as a Defensive midfielder, a subject that has been argued about before. However I cannot see Smith going down that route without some certainty that he can fulfill the role against decent opposition
He may well have the defensive attributes but is unlikely to have the same attacking ones as Nico so don't see any advantage in swapping them.
Problem for me is Niko has had 2 very poor games. He covers a lot of ground but his distribution has been ****
He's carrying an injury apparently.
So therefore we shouldnt be pushing him through that injury. Rest him up, the squad is good enough to cope with his absence.

I personally I'd have:
---------------Bentley---------------
Colin-----Dean---Egan------Barbet

Unbelievable!!
We've just had a great two weeks and people are suggesting we change personnel and formation! I really don't understand the logic in that.
Same formation for me and only make changes if really neccessary.

I see that Yennaris has been drawing similarities withe the side that finished 5th....I would go a step further and suggest it could be even better...due to the defence being a lot tighter and conceding fewer goals.
Just a thought.
Do you think Wolves any tougher than Brighton or Aston Villa?... for tough away games...
"Are we 'Boro in disguise..."

Wouldn't touch a team that's just won 5-0 personally if we don't have to.

If I'm correct, Smith has only made one change of personnel each game, usually due to injury or suspension.Brentford, unbeaten in four games, have more ever-present Championship players than any other side this season. Hogan, John Egan, Ryan Woods, Daniel Bentley and Harlee Dean have all played a full 720 minutes so far.
