Team v Barnsley

Raya
Roeslev Pinnock Sorenson Henry
Janelt
JDS Jensen
Bryan Toney Canos

Subs Daniels, Dalsgaard, Reid, Ghoddos, Stevens, Zamburek, Forss, Haygarth,

Don't know if enough subs as I can never remember how many is allowed. Depending on the score Henrik can come on second half and Roeslev change side.

Little bit of rotation? Would be tempted to give Roerslev a start but wouldn't want to do that unless we had Reid or Norgaard starting.. Feel like two changes in defence is one too many though..

Raya, Dalsgaard, Reid, Sorenson, Henry, Janelt, DaSilva, Ghoddos, Canos, Toney, Mbeumo.

Subs: Daniels, Roerslev, Pinnock, Jensen, Zamburek, Fosu, Forss, Norgaard?? Gilbert

I’m willing to go with mostly your selection but Ghoddos. I think a lot will depend on, has Jensen got a bad knock. When he came off last night he was limping

I think the last two games will have taken a lot out of the midfield so we’re likely to swap at least one of them out on Sunday. Josh only just back so he’ll start, so one of janelt and Jensen. With Norgaard back soon I think we might hang on with janelt til he can play so logically Jensen gets a break and Ghoddos comes in. Ghoddos provides a real goal threat and quality set pieces so see him as a good option for a home game..

Saturday/Wednesday matches up until the 6th March. We will need some rotation. Possibly Henrick or Rico. Fosu or Jensen. Coming in would be Roerslev, then a pick from Mbuemo, Ghoddos, Zamburek.

Would swap Canos for Bryan and Ghoddos for Jensen, mainly for reasons of rotation, but would otherwise leave well alone. Barnsley are a good side!

Janelt is a must pick if fit until Christian available for selection.
Jensen did seem to be limping relatively badly when coming off but he is such a key Creative player for us in middle of park that would be a miss if not fit.
Am sure Thomas knows best and will continue to gently rotate as players certainly do not seem leggy at moment.

I don’t think there are any bad sides in this division.

I don't think it is so weird and no reflection on HD, but he is the oldest member of the regular starting eleven by far and has , arguably, shown signs of needing a break (they probably all do), we also have a very good back up who needs game time.

I think we should be looking to rotate one or two whenever possible, there are two games next week HD can play, we have won the last five games he has missed and personally, I would pick Roerslev for Sunday.

When did he show these signs though ? i have watched every game other than Saints in the cup and he had been good in pretty much every game for me

Not really. Just being pragmatic with so many games coming up. You wouldn't want to change the centre backs unless you know Reid is 100% ready. Can't change Janelt (aside from Wycombe) or Toney. Josh & Sergi have had a rest. So it's the full backs, Jensen & Fosu's turn. So max of 1 FB and one other change.

I did say arguably !

It is all about opinions .......no need to challenge for the penalty and later in the game he played a ball at half way and stepped off the pitch, made his way slowly back on and did not look for the return when there were no other real options for the player in possession. As i said, it is just an opinion and I feel we should rotate whenever possible and he is the oldest, this is a season unlike any other in terms of the schedule, which is brutal.

I also said no reflection on HD, I agree he has had a very good season.

Yeh but how much of Roerselv have you actually seen to make that call? We’re unbeaten in 21 games (I think? Lost count ?) and HD has been in the majority, if not all of those games.

We’re only conceding goals at the moment to really stupid refereeing it seems, and Dalsgaard hasn’t done anything in my opinion to be “rested”. I reckon you should ask him if he wants resting ?

He’s not one of our most glamorous players, but we need him playing every game possible for me.

Team v Barnsley

Until another player who can be the clear and obvious captain, Henrik gets the gig.

I think you may have missed my point. It's not about Henrik. It's not about an individual's form. It's about the volume of games and TF's stated policy of rest and rotation to try and keep the unbeaten run going. So, based on recent rests and cover etc, there are only about 4 potential candidates. In a normal season, Henrik would start pretty much every game.

Team v Barnsley

Never quite sure whether this thread is about what team is likely to be chosen or which TF is likely to choose. I don't have a dog in this fight, but enjoy speculating which team TF will put out (even if I do forget players available!). HD has played as well as others and a personal favourite of mine, but there are a lot of games in a short period. Why would TF not rotate the players, utilizing the squad depth?

Madness to think any players will play every minute of every game. I don't believe anyone on this thread is suggesting that one player is better than the other in his role.

Team v Barnsley

At some point Thomas has to bite the bullet, and play Reid as there is to be little to be gained by waiting until there is an injury when he must be used. This may be an ideal game to start him whilst we are in control of the situation. In such a case, Sorensen could play at left back, and give Henry a well earned rest. Should it not work out at any point Henry could come in, and the others shuffle up.

Barnsley played a relentless high pressing game against Chelsea last night and were unlucky not to have something to show for it. They made Chelsea (squad players) look very average. If Barnsley can repeat that same high pressing against us, then Dalsgaard and one or two others may well struggle. With only four days break Barnsley may well struggle physically to reproduce such a performance, but they will be a difficult team to beat. Think we should be inviting Mr Mowatt to join us if we make the promised land next season.

None of that negates my point, though. Toney is a candidate but I'm personally not in favour of a front player being captain. Without Jansson, Nørgaard's the most obvious candidate. Using Pontus as the example, he's arguably not our best centre back but he's our best captain. Against an organised opponent we need to maintain our structure and a leader is needed to do that. Against Reading, with good wing-backs, Mbeumo and Fosu worked with the full backs, for example, and we needed to maintain that, then switch tactically once we know they'd tired.

I don't think breaking up the central defensive partnership AND playing a player out of position really makes any sense. If we are making a change at the back it makes sense to rest the player where we have the best cover, which equals Dalsgaard

Whilst Reid got a valuable 90 minutes against the B team this week there is a considerable difference between being fit and match fit. Personally I would doubt he is ready just yet for a start so reckon Dalsgard has to start Sunday

That is the essence of the problem, how do we get him match fit without him playing in a match? We have signed him as cover, and/or rotation so presumably should Pinnock get an injury, or a Red Card Reid will have to play. He is fit, has a wealth of experience, if he were to start on Sunday we would be in control of the situation in that he can come off at half time, 60 minutes, or not at all, and Sorenson can get a well earned rest.

No pressure to start Reid, no need to tinker with the back 4. Sorensen doesnt offer the same attacking threat as Rico, who is effectively a winger.

Henrik has been playing out of a high press all season without any problem against much better teams than Baaaahnsley, so why would he struggle now?

Well that is my point, there is no pressure to start him, but there certainly will be should one of our central defenders pick up an injury or a red card.

Think they will just keep easing him in as a sub for now, but get your point. Always feel minimal disruption to back 4 selection is best, foundation of our form

According to WhoScored, Henrik has the highest average score in the right back position this season; Ivan Toney is the only other Bees player. Think about that.

Can we stop resting our best players, have we thought that HD and RH might be as fit as a butchers dog and ready to play every game.
