Team v Birmingham

Weell... A few tired boys tonight. Dalsgaard, Jensen and Dasilva looked shot. The front three too towards the end of the second half. How many changes do we make. We'll def need to replace JDS so presumably Marcondes comes in, but do we risk Baptiste too? I'd be tempted to put Roerslev in also. Hopefully Pontus might be back though which would be a bonus..

Raya, Roerslev, Pontus, Pinnock, Henry, Norgaard, Marcondes, Baptiste, Benhrama, Watkins, Mbuemo.

Subs: Daniels, Dalsgaard, Jeanvier, Zamburek, Fosu, Dervisoglu, Valencia

....all a tad too reactionary...for me at least....picking a side for a game the following Saturday '10mins' after a games over...i'm hopeful TF will give it at least a couple of days consideration.

Can't see us dropping Dalsgaard? If Pontus is back then brilliant, I imagine JDS's injury will force him to pick EM. Probably quite an easy team to predict.

I doubt Pontus will be back. Otherwise will be tempted to go with that side but replace Roerslev with Dalsgaard by 70th minute telling him to empty the tank by then. Bench then : Daniels, Dalsgaard, Racic, Jensen, Yearwood, Fosu, Valencia . Am assuming da Silva not fit enough for bench otherwise whim for Yearwood

Don't get so many people having a go at Dalsgaard. Apart from a very early on misplaced pass I thought he did very well given he was given zero, and I do mean zero, cover or support whole game. He always had a wide extra man to cope with and could have done with Bryan dropping deep to help.

............yep...........first half Dallas pushed further up which pushed Harrison further and Henrik had both to mark..............

Team v Birmingham

I'm hoping Baptiste is good enough to leapfrog Emiliano in the midfield pecking order and offers a bit more defensively in the absence of Kamo.Otherwise don't panic.

****ing bonkers on here , like we have just got relegated rather than moved up to 4th :lol;

indeed , been superb this season

Thomas doesn't like changes. One will be forced [ Marcondes for Josh who needs a rest anyway]. I don't see Pontus being ready yet. So just the one change. However, I hope he uses Baptiste as soon as Jensen starts flagging which he concedes he should have done last night.

I agree, Marcondes had absolutely zero impact last night. If we need fancy flicks he's your man, but I suspect we'll need a bit more "iron" in midfield against the brumscum ?

Thomas just likes to play his best players. Do you have some info on Pontus you would like to share with us ?

This. Did nothing of note. However, it may have been TF’s instructions that meant he sat deep and was not in passing distance of Ollie? Who knows....??

Blackburn is PJ’s target I think, not Brum. If he makes Brum then it’s more in hope....

[ Marcondes had absolutely zero impact last night ].

As did most of the team. However Josh was starting to create chances for Leeds and to that extent Marcondes eliminated the self destruct button waiting to happen.

He was the only midfielder to get into their box second half? Most of the rest of the team were shot by that point anyway. We needed to gamble and bring two or three on at 60 to bring some energy. 2 minutes at the death for fosu and baptiste was a joke

I've followed the Pontus saga from inception where he lost sensation in his foot whilst with Sweden. I suffered major lower disc problems with my spine a number of years ago.I'm sure other supporters have had the same issue. What I know is that loss of feeling in the feet v often points to a spinal disc issue which can also radiate out to the hip. I'm sure the club has sent him for an MRI to identify the issue. If it's that , it can take quite a while to rectify . Re playing and being match fit, Pontus has only started on grass this Monday. I can't see him match fit ready until Blackburn at the earliest and it would be dangerous to risk him until it's clear he can play a competitive match. But I'm no doctor.

We looked knackered all over the pitch but particularly in midfield. Birmingham will be well up for it. If we play the same side (minus JDS) we’ll struggle, especially as forecast is pretty awful for sat. Need some fresh legs in. We’ve always struggled with the third game In a week when away and we’ve played two very intense games so far with all the same players.

Team v Birmingham

People are writing off our whole midfield. One minute a Jensen is the best we’ve ever seen, the next match they’re totally useless. Applies to Norgaard, DaSilva, Marcondes, Mokotjo. Yes they looked ineffective last night and it was a pretty humbling experience that, despite the point, we could have done without, but as Frank said, that’s what Leeds do. He also admitted that he could have made the substitutions earlier. It was a humbling experience for all of us, but we have strengthened our league position. Can’t be bad. It just felt that way.

Posted this elsewhere, but Forest made 5 changes last night. That result has made their Leeds win far less relevant.
Would have been better off drawing with Leeds and winning last night.
Always respect the opposition.

Jensen and, in particular, DaSilva have been off for a couple of games at least though. Marcondes instantly improved us when he came on in place of Jensen on Saturday and he was better than DaSilva when he came on last night too.

Norgaard's been solid for months now, no one's advocating dropping him.

No-ones writing them off!! They look jaded and need a bit of a break. JDS is only young and hasn’t played this many games before, likewise it’s Jensen’s first full season in England. They’re excellent players but we can’t expect them to perform at 100% with the kind of intensity we needed against Leeds and boro (and will against Birmingham) 3 times in a week. We’ve left ourselves in a position where we need to make substantial changes on Saturday which isn’t ideal at all but that’s where we’re at.. ?*♂️

Why do we need to substantial changes , we in a great run of form.

I'm another who doesn't get that. Harrison was a real handful and I thought Dalsgaard had a decent game. The whole back four did well given the pressure they were under with Leeds dominating.

....indeed....tinkering.....historically....it often leads to trouble....with the exception of injuries....i' m not convinced many if any changes are required for Brum...hey ho.

I think this game might be postponed, torrential rain and wind gusts of 50/60mph are forecast.

BBC forecast (I know quite a few 'cuckoos' apparently deem it a fake news channel these days) has heavy rain from midday Saturday onwards (86>90% probability), and winds of 40mph (gusting to 50/60mph).

Did you mistakenly key in Birmingham, Alabama old chap?

Absolutely, If we allowed the GPG wanabee managers to pick the teams we would be back in league 2 in 3 years lol

Many seem to be "I don't think much of him, so I want to see him. Making wholesale changes or starting players who've only been with us a couple of weeks is a high-risk strategy. We'd be better off playing our Cup side...

Sorry , GPG madness wound me up this morning.
Apologies for my rudeness.
oh well if it does get called off Broad St in Alabama is not a bad way to spend the day :sorted:

I don't mind who out of Marcondes and Baptiste starts, though the former has arguably 'earned' it more. I haven't seen Baptiste in training (or, you know...at all apart from a brief cameo last night). But if he plays I would be excited rather than down.

Birmingham will be interesting, they're on good form at the moment but their home record is woeful. Until the Forest game they hadn't won there in months. And wind (if it's bad) I suspect will suit them and not us...

The BBC/Meteo forecast for Bordesley has a high chance of rain from 12:00: 78%-92%, and wind of 41 only from 12:00 until 2pm, then it drops to 22 to 20 by 5pm.

Because he's a box to box player and Marcondes is a playmaker and so a like fo r like for JDS

Marcondes replaced DaSIlva last night and made a difference, so my question still stands.

We were playing a longer ball game and bypassing him, so couldn’t impact the same way. He did however press and close quicker and made one great interception in 18 yard box.

100% Agreed. We were playing a tactic that I still don't really understand as it didn't really seem to work.

Team v Birmingham

Nothing wrong with the back 4. Its the CM where we are lacking and need to freshen it up. Marcondes deserves his start.

We looked shattered at the end of the Leeds game. The amount of effort we put in for little reward will have taken its toll. We got an absolute chasing. JDS went off injured and looked shot well before that. Jensen was struggling and previously went off limping in the Boro game. Dalsgaard has had two v intense games at right back and we’ve rotated him previously in three game weeks. Roerslev is an excellent deputy and v quick, bright and attack minded. Birmingham will be bang up for it after 3 wins on the bounce. I fear if we play the same team we’ll get our usual 3rd game in a week lethargic away loss. It’s not ideal making more than a couple of changes but we needed to manage the squad this month and we haven’t really done so at all so far..
