Team v Derby

Big one this. Derby didn't look all that v WBA and added bonus of their young striker getting a red card. However, obviously we need to put our best 11 out as they're getting to last chance saloon with the play off spots.


Raya, Dalsgaard, Jansson, Pinnock, Henry, Norgaard, Marcondes, DaSilva, Benhrama, Watkins, Mbuemo.

Subs: Daniels, Roerslev, Jeanvier, Jensen, Baptiste (hopefully, if not Zamburek or Mokotjo), Dervisoglu, Valencia, Thompson, Fosu

Any of our usual starting elevens should be good enough. I was wondering if Rooney merited special attention. Haven't seen him man-marked in recent matches, (actually, do you ever really see this, these days), but Forest made sure that the nearest player closed him down with real urgency and got in his face. I think our usual pressing style encompasses this anyway. So probably nothing different for Rooney. Should keep a close eye on him though as he is excellent at finding and occupying available space, knows precisely what he is going to do with the ball as it arrives at his feet, and executes promptly.

You're right. He tries to also play the ball where the receiving player should be, almost telling them "that's where you should be moving to". Great teacher for younger players at the club but you can see those around him are no where near being up to that level and they look rather toothless as a result. They'll be even less of a match for us than they were for WBA with Rooney the only player I would worry about - Pontus and Ethan could probably take a picnic out there with them if Chris Martin plays but suspect Lawrence will be back

My team choice would be for Derby to play exactly the same way and select the same team as they did v WBA!

Plus, keep Chris Martin on the pitch for the whole match, as his "defensive" header when in the WBA penalty area was brilliant.

Apart from that, I know that Thomas Frank’s team selection will be right for the circumstances, and that "Whiteboard" will come off the bench for us at exactly the right moment!

The only dilemma is Jensen or Marcondes. Not unhappy if Jensen but I think Marcondes deserves to start. Hopefully a good chance for more time for peripheral players.

Yup, strongest 11 for me and most others too I'd guess.

Sadly I imagine last night's red card will be rescinded as no way was it a sending off.

I hope the FA are as poor as usual and waive away the appeal - even though it is Wayne Rooney's Derby County!

Watched it today. He did undoubtedly kick him. So has to be a red. The WBA did make a meal of it though :)

Derby are bang average. All about Rooney. Every pass has to go to him. He has to take every set piece. Probably written in to his contract. Martin will dive about as usual.

They must win. Plays in to our hands and 2-0 bees.

Marcondes for Jensen and Baptiste back on the bench.

I thought they looked knackered yesterday - i'd be shocked if Martin caused us significant problems. Forsyth looked incredibly poor yesterday at LB, Bogle much better on the other side.
Tom Lawrence back but missing Waghorn, perhaps Holmes who went off injured. Sibley red card maybe recinded? Lots of things up in the air for Derby. Barely troubled WBA in reality, although had a nice couple of spells. Thought Clarke looked good at CB.

Watched Derby play Forest and imo they are cack!
Was expecting alot better tbh.... Maybe missing Lawrence.

Lawrence will be eager to contribute but he's easy to wind up... he needs a visit from the Christian and Henrik school of schooling.

I was really worried about this one a week ago, but having seen bits of their last two performances, we really should win this if we play anything like we have the last few games. Still start with Henrik and Emiliano though. Jensen on the bench please.

Derby's Sibley has had his red card overturned, that'll give our defenders something to think about, young and lively.

As bizarre as his recent re-emergence has been after disappearing for 3 years, I'd still be concerned about his annoyingly good record against us

They have Waghorn and Sibly both out...and probably have Lawrence back after 3 games out! That 3 of their 4 topscorers...which should help a little...just need to welcome Rooney to the game early on and we should be fine!

Unfortunately I think you’ll find the Sibley red card was overturned.

Surprised to see Roerslev starts in place of Dalsgaard , has Dalsgaard got a slight injury problem
