A back 5 with Zanka would be unconscionable based on his play, which means we need a back 4 or Ji-Soo in. And Reguilon got himself suspended so now that's the only real LB that's out. Sneaking suspicion that Janelt will not be fit based on how he came off and that Onyeka will start no matter what leads me to...

With Mbeumo back we have forward depth and with Reguilon out we are far too short on defensive quality to play a back 5. We need to stop inviting pressure with the low block and start bringing it to other teams. I don't care who they are, let's score some goals and get some momentum and confidence built for the stretch.

Minus the full backs thats as close we have been to a full strength team since Toney has been back

And with Reguilon back for Brighton we will be pretty much there

3 CBs no use against a side who like to counter attack at pace. We need to get on the front foot from the start. MU cop a lot of flack but they have some quality players and have a decent away record.

Hate seeing Ajer wasted as a centre back when he can cover that position from fullback, so can Janelt. Collins likes to roam so have Zanka as the backstop unless Pinnock is fit. No weedy blokes defending. Ball playing footballers in attack

Add the best nine footballers in the squad (and that in my book includes Ghoddos & Maupay)
Last place to be shared over ninety minutes by the two best Duracell Bunnies we have (excludes Frank, but includes Roeslav)
who run and run, until they can't run anymore, then get subbed.
If that approach lends to playing 4- 2 -4 then so be it. More likely 4-4-2 with Bryan & KLP wide.
Finally and maybe most controversially suggest to Toney that he leaves the show boating until the game is won,
instead of the first hour which was my view of his performance yesterday !
We only came alive when Bryan and Maupay came on. Take note Thomas !

I'm not sure that a game when we played almost the entire 90 minutes a man short is a good barometer of form or a reason to completely write someone off!

Obviously if Pinnock, Norgaard and Mbeumo are fit to start then they will do..but if not we have to trust players to put things right and not suddenly throw in some youngsters with no experience.

Had enough of Flekken based on what exactly ? 4 games in a row of decent performances ? Utterly bizarre to start with that position when there’s so much wrong elsewhere on the pitch.

Sorry I think you may need to wait before posting when emotional, quite frankly most of your lengthy post is incorrect factually although agree Frank should have been hooked earlier.

Flekken nearly made a howler but that aside was very good as he has been for several weeks now.

This wasn’t poor tactics by TF yesterday, if Reguilon had played as he did against Forest and Chelsea at home he would have been the attacking force down the left but he ruined the coaches tactics after 5 minutes.

Playing 80 minutes when one down away from home in front of a partisan crowd and a weak ref meant he was up against it.

He may not always get it right but we didn’t lose because of poor tactics but because of an idiotic red card challenge

Quite simple really - my view is that he is a poor goalkeeper. I started with the goalkeeper as is customary when announcing team sheets etc. My tactic comment related entirely on delaying the introduction of Mbeumo & Maupay until the 75th minute. I trust that all commenting upon my post were present at Burnley yesterday and enjoyed their day out.

My strategic footballing brain has now decided to go for 4-2-3-1.

Another 24 hours and I will reveal some other plan, 3-6-1 for example. Still, I think 4-2-3-1 suits the players available.

A lot of people seem confident Norgaard will be back, have I missed something as the tracker has him out for Utd and potentially a few games beyond that?

Both Brentford and United have a weak defence so I think this is not a game for 5 defenders and a low block. Let's face it, even when we do try that we are conceding two or three goals most games.
It's too early to pick a team until we know if Pinnock, Norgaard and Mbuemo can start, but I'd favour going 4-3-3 as I think attack is the best form of defence against United. Shame yesterday's result will have given them a boost as I think we have a chance if we get on top early.
