Team v Middlesbrough

Djuricin didn't look fit to me and I'd be surprised if Toumani plays. I'd go for:

-----------------Button---------------

Colin-----Dean-------Tarky----Bidwell

------------Woods-----McCormack------

------Canos-----Judge--------Swift------

-------------------Hofmann------------------

Bonham
O'Connell
Nico
Vibe
Saunders
McEachran
Djuricin

How about Nico instead of Mac? I would admit that maybe this is not the game experiment but perhaps needs must?

Think a tricky player with pace like Gogia might throw Boro a bit and help out defensively more than Canos.

The proviso is that if anyone has indicated they want to leave during the transfer window then they don't play or even make the bench.

I like the idea of playing Vibe out wide and not as a lone striker

We desperately need a good defensive holding player to anchor the midfield. Maybe Tarks can stand in for now, in front of Dean and O'Connell. Spurs's Eric Dier is a central defender who's brilliant in central midfield.

I don't think Tarks is mobile enough really to do that role

If we've had another bid in for Tarks, I've a feeling he won't play tomorrow whether it meets our valuation or not.

Team v Middlesbrough

He'll be playing the holding-his-phone-waiting-for-a-call-from-his-agent role.

Ha ha! Thanks for everything Tarks- I hope you improve with Burnley or West Brom as you need to! We have one of the worst defences in the Championship( stop blaming the midfield) and certain mug teams can take any of our defenders- they are welcome except Colin who is class. We need some older heads and only two youngster at the back- Dean( apparently wants to leave in the Summer) and Biddy. We can strengthen in the Summer as we will finish mid table this year. We must have a blend of experience and youth.

Canos is a better player defensively than Swift - that is not saying much I grant you- the latter who seems to go into a catatonic trance whenever called upon to close a player down or track back defensively.

I'm not sure if we need all the midfield to be strong defensively, we can afford a luxury flair player as long as we have a blend but currently we have too many similar.

Agreed but my original point remains that at least Canos seem's to be willing to put in the yards to cover his full back whilst Swifty often needs a good kick up the arse. Frustrates me that a player with obvious talent just doesn't do the basics defensive duties of a midfielder well.

This is very unlikely but I like the idea of Colin and Nico playing down the right side and keeping Friend occupied and maybe introduce Canos for impact in the 2nd half. I also like the idea of Judge and Gogia running off Hofmann's hold up play.
I would leave Tarks out at the moment until we know what's what and give Barbet his chance to shine again.

I'm seeing McCormack in line up's. Is he fit? He didn't look too comfortable when he walked off on Saturday.

Swift is an attacking midfielder who can't doesn't do basic defensive duties well, we've got a few defensive midfielders who aren't exactly brilliant at it.

Sorry but the Hoff cannot play on his own up front , well though he played on Saturday his goal threat was zero , if it's 451 then Vibe to come back to prove a point, Hoff to come on later if we've got anything to hold onto , if we are chasing the game please can we play 2 up top !

I can readily accept the odd mistake from young players as part of their learning curve just switching off entirely and on rare occasions seeming like he can't be bothered is not acceptable and that is why the talented but lackadaisical Mr Swift frustrates the hell out of me. Going with the bloke you're meant to be marking or pressing the ball when required are prerequisites at any level of the professional game.

He's not a natural in the role granted but no supporting midfielder came within ten feet of the poor bloke in the first half he was totally isolated so a bit of a harsh analysis. He did have one decent chance in the first half but totally missed the ball! Second half when we were pressing and throwing balls into the box the poor sod was subbed for MD who understandably looked a bit rusty.

My worry here is that from the looks of things, Toums is on his way out so won't feature, McCormack will have done well to recover from his injury on Saturday and similarly McEachran looked relatively unfit on Saturday (possibly even injured)

If those 3 are out we're a bit stuck.

Normally the Hoff wouldn't suit our system but when a team comes to sit deep and counter like I expect Boro to do then the Hoff would be ideal to start up top.

He will cause Gibson and Ayala a physical problem and hopefully be able to lay off passes in to the runs of Judge, Canos and Vibe/Gogia/Swift going past him.

Yep that's the worry, where's Tebar when you need him?

I'v no idea really.
Proper Championship manager nonsense...

Assuming that Tarks & Toums don't play due to current transfer activity an Macca is injured how about this

Button
Colin Dean O'Connell Bidwell

Woods Barbet

Canos Vibe Judge

Hofmann

Barbet sits deep in front of the back four and from the little I've seen maybe has the mobility to play this position? It still leaves, on paper, a fairly strong bench with the likes of McE, Swift, Yannaris, Djuracin, KK to come on as players tire.

* I dont think Toums or Tarky will play (heads been turned). Judge will play I think.

If, having played a weakened side against Walsall, we then decide not to play either Tarks or Toums and effectively play a weakened side tonight, then I'll be furious. Even if their heads have been turned, they're our players until such time as someone stumps up whatever money we're asking for and if they're fit then play IMO.

I can't see how Toums can play, he's been reported as wanting out, isn't that all a bit final?

:imwith: I'm with you my friend but suspect unless the offer received is still miles off Tarks won't play. I hope I'm wrong by the way. Not too fussed about Toums as didn't suit him last year and went AWOL.

Think DS will go with this. Id prefer Hoff up top and Vibe playing in Swift role.
Hoff laying it off for the 3 behind him.

I would go with that, we need people to get in their faces tonight as that is how they have beaten us the last 4 times or so. Hoff can put it about and Mac will follow the ref and put some sly digs in.

Other than that I still think we will get beaten relatively easily.

Who would you be furious with? If their heads are not in the right place (I take that to mean they won't put in a performance), wouldn't playing them be in effect fielding a weakened team? I completely understand being furious at the idea that someone you are paying would put in a bad performance if they think they off the following week.

I'd be furious with both Tarks and Toumani I suppose for forcing DS's hand. Certainly in Toumani's case, the evidence on Saturday was that we were very light in terms of fit replacements for him so I'd hope that they were both professional enough to maintain their level of performance until such time as their futures were resolved, as Andre did.

On Saturday's evidence, neither Mac nor Josh are anywhere near fit enough to be considered for a starting place IMO.

Team v Middlesbrough

Have we ever unleashed Mac on Boro, I know he looked terrible on Saturday but a battle with Leadbitter might be fun to watch.

Harlee's doing a professional job knowing he won't be here next season so I'd expect the same from others.
