Mepham will start imho.
Outstanding at Boro. I don't really get why he won't/wouldn't keep the shirt?
Kept a much more expensive front line quiet last time out than he'll face this week

I'd like to see this team starting.... I've seen a very positive partnership growing between Jozefzoon and Watkins flojo assisting his last 2 goals. Watkins is wasted on the wing IMHO the sooner Smith realises that the better. If the game is going to plan id take of either Bjelland or Barbet to give Chatzitheodoris his league debut gradually bedding him in but Smith does have a history of giving youngsters opportunities so I wouldn't bet against him starting.

So confident, you are giving Millwall a man advantage?

I quite like your thoughts but
I would go Flojo in place of Ilias or as Millwall play 4 4 2 so I could be Clarke at right back Dalsgaard moving to left

Team v Millwall

I definitely would not play Chatzitheodoridis at home to Millwall which is likely to be an intense encounter. I would go for someone with at least some experience.

What was qpr Away in the League Cup then? Not an “intense encounter”?

Team v Millwall

No! Playing away is often easier for a youngster than playing at home. For one thing the supporters tend to be whole hearted and more understanding and the levels of expectation are not as great.

Team v Millwall

Think Smith's team selections have been really good lately so happy with whatever he decides :)

Team v Millwall

Mepham deserves to keep his chance...but playing Mepham and Ilias as part of the same back 4 is a mistake IMO. One B-teamer but not two together. I think he'll play Clarke there personally...

Bentley
Dals, Egan, Mepham, Clarke
Yen, Woods
Sawyers
Josef, Vibe, Watkins.

Egan/Barbet and Vibe/Maupay are interchangeable and I didn't quite know which. We don't really have a great LB anymore and neither Bjel or Barbet fill me with confidence there. Clarke may be ok and could learn the position and he could be the man to hold the shirt.

So it's a mistake to play two recent B teamers together but not a problem to play an entire team made up of right footers? Better hope the ball stays on the right side of the pitch.

Interesting.

Mepham deserves to hold onto his shirt IMO.

Agreed! Just a case of who plays left back. Against Millwall at home I would go either ilias or Josh. I think as have to look long term and Josh is not a long term left back have to give Ilias the chance.

So:

Bentley

Dalsgaard
Mepham
Barbet
Illias

Woods
Mokotjo

Josefzon
Yennaris
Watkins

Maupay

Subs: Daniel Bjelland Sawyers McEachran Clarke Canos Vibe

In some respects this side is a tad cautious for playing Millwall at home but with such a rookie defence giving them a very solid midfield in front of them will give them the opportunity to bed in and we have plenty of attacking options from bench . Remarkably Above squad doesn’t have room for Egan ! Because if that it would not surprise me if Dean plays Bjelland at Centre back and Barbet at left back with Egan and not Illias on bench .

Remember when Tom Field made his debut against Fulham look how well that turned out.

Thats the problem with teams in this country and their young players. A lot of them are good enough they just need the game time and belief from the management to give them a game.

I think he deserves his chance and I ’m sure he’s up to it. We’re at home so should set out to play the way we want to and not change things around to suit the oppo. We should be imposing our game on them not the other way round. Equally it is only millwall, nothing compared to what mepham faced last time out..

Smith may well see things differently though and we may see Barbet at LB but this is exactly what we have the B team for so it would be disappointing if he doesn’t get a start..

...I always get caught out by that lol Ok maybe Barbet.

Very true, Marcus Rashford is a good example made his debut against the massive Arsenal scored twice and hasn’t looked back since. All about being given an opportunity if they don’t get that then how will they progress.

ISTR he made his debut against FCM... I was there!

If the youngster gets his chance then very best of luck to him.

Agree Ilias deserves his chance but don't be fooled, this is a different prospect to a standoffish, aging Derby side who allowed us plenty of possession and couldn't get near the ball. Millwall are much fitter and will hunt every ball, Morrison in turn will play off the right and they'll look for the diagonal testing a short/inexperienced Ilias. It's very easy to see why Smith would move one of the left footed CBs into the left back position for this one.

I reckon you're on the money there. Maybe Vibe to start ahead of Maupay. Of course it's harsh on Mepham who like Josh Clarke barely put a foot wrong at Boro but the quantity of football slows down between now and Christmas and I just can't see Egan being benched for a potentially long period of time.

Given that Millwall are very direct with 2 up top, this is an ideal game for Egan, no messing about, just head the ball as far as you can. Given that, I'd expect Barbet to be alongside him, there's not much heading cover otherwise.

I reckon Bjelland & Mokotjo on the bench after international duty. MacLeod is with the B team up in Manchester.

Very harsh on Mepham but I think this is a game for Egan tomorrow, just fancy that in a battle against Millwall's physical forwards he is the better bet. Not a criticism of Mepham just a reflection on what a physical presence Egan is.

Erm the game is today

Spoke to a mate who has refereed & 4th Officialed for Millwall this season, said they're game is all long ball to Morrison so maybe 3 at the back with aerial ability is a good ploy as long as wing backs can track back if ball is played long out to the wings.

This not binary. If he does not start today there will be other opportunities.

Sorry to go off topic but I have a logistical problem for today's game which I am hoping someone can help with? I am bringing my 80 year old dad, who is very wobbly on his legs, I normally bring him in his wheel chair, but he has just rung to tell me that my mum, who is visiting a friend in Kent, has driven off with it in the boot of her car this morning. My other option is to bring his mobility scooter but I wanted to check with the club first whether they would have an issue bringing that in to the New Road and parking it up behind the stand during the match, I normally collapse his other chair down and they let me stick in behind the back row of the stand. I have tried to ring the main number but all the auto-attendant options are going to messages saying they are closed or ringing unanswered. Does anyone know of a number on match days to ring other than that advertised on the club website? Match day security or stewarding I think would be the most obvious options to me?
