Team v Millwall

I'll be disappointed if Marcondes doesn't start against Millwall. He showed against Burton that he's got what it takes to be an effective striker and didn't shirk on his covering-back duties. I like Maupay's fighting qualities and he's already notched up a respectable goals tally, but I feel he's still at the lower end of his learning curve and a spell in the sin-bin where he can ruminate on his tendency to temper tantrums won't do him any harm. Plus he can come on with a fresh pair of legs late in the game.

For the rest, I'd fancy Barbet over Clarke in defence and Yennaris to liven up the midfield. The rest unchanged, apart from Canos for the injured Flojo.

Millwall are currently on a good run, but I fancy our chances with the above line-up.

Spot on I think. Maupay has also scored alot of his goals coming off the bench, so if we drawing or behind we could throw him on in the last 20 mins with fresh legs. I would also choose Barbet as he has a more physical presence. I think this a big game for woods to show what a good player he is. If he can control the midfield we should/will win!.

He did? I thought he looked off the pace and struggled to get into the game playing as a striker. There are parts of his game I like but he didn't look much like a genuine striker to me. Maupay would be a better choice.

Maupay needs to avoid a booking today as he’s on eight with two matches to go before the cut off date. Bench him.

This was the point I was trying to make before Burton....

If FloJo's foot is not ready for today, then Canos should start. Our new friend from the East points out that they play an aggressive 4 in midfield, and normally our 3/5 should cope. However, whilst Ollie & Sergi have both improved their tracking back, they're young & can still "switch off" on occasions. I would put some extra zip in midfield & play both Yennaris & Kamo with Woods dropping to the bench. To my mind Kamo has had his best performances away from home, & I would hope he has the opportunity today. Ryan can come on once we've gained control (hopefully).
It could all come unhinged of course with the combination of Messrs Attwell & Stroud (4th Official).....

There's some good logic in that; I'm not sure Smith will follow the same train of thought, though. I think Attwell has done well for us in the more recent appearances.

Get what you’re saying about Canos but today is not the day to be dropping woods IMHO!

Bloody hell Attwell and Stroud together! My mind is boggling.

Just met an avid Bronby fan on holiday. He knew all about Brentford and our Danish contingent and was disappointed that Marcondes signed for us rather than them as he really rated him. .

I asked him what Marcondes’s best position was :

“No idea at all!!”

Team v Millwall

You say that but Marcondes and Canos linked up pretty well in the short time they were on the pitch together at Burton. The front 3 haven't exactly clicked the last couple of games despite playing a fair few together so I don't see it as much of a risk..

Hope you are right cos that is what he has gone with!

On the Egan vs Mepham debate, I took a look back at recent Man of the Match ratings for both players:

Egan: 0/29 vs Burton, 0/18 vs Leeds, 0/157 vs Brum, 1/49 vs Sunderland, 3/91 vs Preston

Mepham: 40/83 vs Norwich, 13/98 vs Reading, 40/138 vs Bolton, 16/69 vs Notts, 2/20 vs Wolves, 18/140 vs Sheff. Wed, 20/114 vs Aston Villa (couldn't see MOM thread for Derby game).

The stats speak for themselves I think. John Egan is a good player who perhaps hasn't had his best season; Mepham may make some mistakes owing to his inexperience, but to most people he looks a class above.
...............Mepham comes
back in and immediate plaudits................

Personally I think an extra hour on the training ground focusing on shooting wouldn't go amiss for our midfielders and attackers.
Looked like we created enough opportunities again but there was some pretty ropey shooting which was either way off or pretty tame.
Practice makes perfect ;)

Someone posted on here that Emiliano stays on after everybody else on shooting practice.
