Team v Reading

Couple of changes after a tough second half at Watford. Pinnock the obvious one, hopefully Pontus is fit otherwise a Goode/Sorenson CB pairing looks a little vulnerable. We'll probably rotate the midfield again with maybe Marcondes in for Jensen, otherwise not a lot else we can change up.

Raya, Dalsgaard, Pontus, Sorenson, Henry, Janelt, DaSilva, Marcondes, Canos, Toney, Mbeumo.

Subs: Daniels, Thompson, Goode, Jensen, Norgaard (PLEASE!), Fosu, Forss, Ghoddos, Pressley.

As you say not a lot of rotation possible. Suspect Fosu and Canos will rotate. I don’t see Pontus being fit. If he is then possible Fosu could replace Dalsgaard and Canos retains position as he played only 60 minutes against Watford. Marcondes almost certain to come in but could well be for Josh and not Jensen.

I cants see Norgaard being on bench otherwise he would have played at least 45 minutes versus QPR.

I still have problems with Dalsgaard at RB but without Pinnock available I wouldn’t want to unsettle the defence any further by throwing in Stevens or Fosu. That becomes even more important is Jansson is a doubt as Henrik stands in as captain.

The rest of the team picks itself if everyone is at full fitness. If not, I can see us rotating in any or all of; Goode, Fosu, Marcondes, Forss.

I just don't see this negativity towards Dalsgaard. He has been one our most consistent players this season. Ok a few lapses, but who hasn't - even Ivan misses chances.

He attacks and defends very differently from the explosive Rico on the other flank but nevertheless has contributed well in both departments and has rescued the team a few times when moving into the centre in response to a threat. Mbeumo in front of him doesn't appear to be the easiest of players to combine with and he has often put Henrik in a difficult position by running into a blind alley and losing the ball when Henrik is overlapping.

whats wrong with HD ? , very good and consistent player.

whats wrong with HD ? , very good and consistent player.

It has been explained many times. Good defender. Strong leader.

But he’s 31, has 6 months left on his contract, struggles with three games a week, and doesn’t have the pace he once did - so struggles to support Mbeumo going forward. And on the occasions he does, when the opposition turns over possession he often gets caught up the pitch.

I agree he’s important for us currently when fully fit, as we don’t have anyone else. But that means we can’t play him every game or we risk burning him out.

Clearly I’m not alone in this thinking. Even last season, when Roerslev was fit he was rotated into the team regularly and Henrik rested. The fixtures are even more congested this season and Henrik isn’t getting quicker or younger. This season we’ve given a left winger minutes there. Need a more permanent solution in the next two windows, as I can’t see him staying beyond his current contract expiry.

I don't think he does struggle with the games , another gpg myth ?‍♂️

Marcondes in for Jensen and, reluctantly, Goode for Pinnock. I don't think Goode is ready, especially without an experienced player next to him, but I'm not sure playing Dalsgaard out of position and giving Stevens his first start at RB, or Fosu out of position, is a better option. Just hope Pontus is fit

Other than enforced changes I would keep as was first half at Watford. I understand the need to rotate but we were SOOO good it would be great if we could build a little more on that momentum. We can change early if needs be and at least some will be having a break Wednesday.

Team v Reading

Can agree to disagree then, I’d still be surprised if he was kept on after this season.
would take a big fee to replace him i reckon

I just don't understand what you and other ppl have against HD, he was absolutely brilliant last season and continued that form this season, he scored a brilliant goal the other day and when he ain't playing the team do not look balanced. Obviously in most teams they employ there fastest and trickiest players on the wings and HD as done extremely well against them. Someone on here mentioned his age; this is the 21st century a 31 year old is the equivalent to a 27 year old 3-4 decades ago.

Probably too soon but.......

Obviously he won't be here next season.
He hasn't let us down. This time next year everyone will be missing him.
Wouldn't mind the Norwich right back.
If we can out bid Celtic, im sure Barcelona wouldn't be a problem lol.

Hope we can get this team out, against a team who regardless of what we think of them are having a good season.

Got a feeling thought that we wont see PJ or MJ starting.

Keep HD in his position and give Goode a run out who is slowly getting better with each performance.

Your positivity is legendary Nick, I think if we signed a player with one leg, a white stick and a Labrador I think you
would say he was going to be a top player, if you could bottle that positivity could you put some in the post:)

Interesting pattern of when Fosu starts we win and when he doesn’t we draw so he’s starting for me over Canos

I’m not sure we will see PJ either. However Reading are severely weak up front currently with only one forward available. So if we are going to be without him and EP, this is probably the best game to be in this position.

Team v Reading

Hoping PJ is fit:

Raya
Henry
Jansson/Goode
Sorensen
Dalsgaard

Im just not sure about Goode at this level but I guess he will start if PJ is not ready. We could really do with winning this one with Muff and Norwich settled at the top and no doubt cash to spend in January. Shows how far we have come that we really could do without the Newcastle game on Tuesday.

Looks good Charley but think I’d try Sergi on his ‘natural’ wing and Fosu on the left.
Mbeumo needs a rest and and his mojo back. Hopefully coming in at the death with Reading tiring will give him a fillip.
A goal would do him the world of good.
Also having SC in front of him might give Henrik some well deserved help.

And play Goode.
What does it say to him if we draught in a FB when two other players in his position are unavailable?
Looked OK on Tuesday, needs some faith placed on him.

Their strength is in the attacking midfield, though, young and very mobile. Our defensive group will need to concentrate and match that mobility.
