Team v WBA

Probably time to mix it up a bit more as we'll need the likes of Norgaard, Dalsgaard and Pontus at their freshest against Millwall..

Raya, Henry, Goode, Sorenson, Thompson, Marcondes, Baptiste, Zamburek, Dervisoglu, Forss, Fosu.

Subs: Daniels, Dalsgaard, Pinnock, JDS, Canos, Toney, Mbeumo

Why Thomas Frank has some interesting selection options against WBA and Millwall this week after Saturday's 3-0 in over Huddersfield.

Probably but we don't seem to have an automatic replacement on right for either Henrik or Bryan at the moment and could do with bedding in or finding a couple.

Sergi could play wide right I guess but I'd like to keep some first teamers in the side to give us a better chance of progressing - right back for me is a priority this window even if just on loan until Jan

Nobody suggesting Halil. is he injured?

be an ideal game to give him a start.

I'd get Raya and Forss back in for this one, i'd also play Halil and rest Rico. I don't really mind on the rest, but I reckon we'll win.

Not a fan of a left back playing right back, but if that is the only option so be it. That is where a half season loan would be perfect.

Me neither but we don't have anyone else at the moment and Dalsgaard can't play every game. Real shame Roerslev got injured as I think he'd be doing well

Like most of your selection, but not to sure Thomas will want to play Dalsgaard and again on Saturday at Millwall which to me is more important. So maybe Canos as a wing back especially as with your selection we are missing the pace of Rico to break forward

Canos had a small strain before he was subbed so don't think he'll be risked. Henry and Norgaard should be rested for a tough game on Saturday against Millwall... This game should be used to give mins to those in the periphery of the first team squad.

Team v WBA

The real question is who plays fullback?
Rico and Thompson ?

someone else and Thompson - but who? Goode will Play centre half and Canos will probably get a rest.

Team v WBA

Could play Fin Stevens at RB. Would be a gamble but he has impressed and played a fair amount of senior football for a youngster .

This might be a good call providing he is not sidelined due to being part of the side that lost to Hendon (covid ) ?

Team v WBA

Could Goode play Right Back with Ethan and Mads as the centre half's or is there a better alternative B team c/h that looks good quick enough to play RB for this match. WBA played what looks like a second X1 v Harrogate 9 (albeit a strong team), they re home to Chelsea on Saturday so I wouldn't have thought they would want to risk Pereira or Diangana against us?

Ok forgot about Canos slight injury. But with uncertainty around BSquad Covid 19 Test following positive test after the game at Hanwell so who else can we slot in resting Dalsgaard

Team v WBA

Hammar has played at RB before I think but he's probably been sidelined with the B team too.. I think only options are Dalsgaard or Henry I'm afraid unless we go 3 at the back with Sergi as wing back

I just cant see any other options. Are the B team still isolating?

Squad depth is still very light IMO.

I don’t think I’d start Dalsgaard because I don’t think he can continually play two/three games a week and would leave Norgaard on the bench, partly to rest him and partly to avoid him picking up his first suspension for five yellows before we’ve even got through September.

Yellow in the cup won't count for league matches I believe. A red would though.

oh right fair enough I wasn’t aware of that. I think I’d still give him a rest as we really don’t have anyone to replace him in the league

I think Norgaard needs a rest, even though none of the other midfielders are like-for-like replacements. I would play Baptiste there and Marcondes alongside. Otherwise, same as above.

It depends in my view on whether Dalsgaard can play 2-3 games a week to the end of the year. If so it might be worth having him do so in the expectation that he can be rotated and rested in the second half of the season when Roerslev becomes available again. By that point we would hope to be in a strong position with a settled regular line up and so able to switch him out without putting undue pressure on Roerslev.

Just said on sky Raya “ may start “ and Goode and MBS “ should return “

Agreed when the midweek league games start ramping up but do we really want to risk that for the league cup?

Not really fussed about this except l would like to see Halil start.

Normally I’m meh about the cups but I think it would be better this season to use the Carabao as long as we can to build the team, players and management’s coherence and confidence so that we start the season well. As I’ve posted before, if it takes 10-11 games for everyone to click and for TF to know what new/fringe players can do and what styles work for them and us, I’d prefer it if 4 or 5 of those games were in the Carabao.

As the draw has thrown up a series of top two division teams these games in which opponents are Playing strong line ups they’re like good and demanding friendlies. If we’d been drawn against a series of L2 clubs we’d get little from them and could just take them as fitness sessions but I think that’d be a waste this season.

Definitely rest Dalsgaard, Henry & Norgaard. Virtually no summer break. They'll be burnt out by November.

Fair enough, don’t disagree with most of what you say just think certain players that are either a little ‘fragile’ or that we don’t have any replacements for should be protected in cup games.

Dalsgaard will definitely be rested due to him playing against Southampton, Henry will play RB. I agree we should rest Norgaard who we don't seem have backup for.

Team v WBA

Being suggested that David Button might well play in goal for WBA, totally forgot he'd moved there from Brighton.

Would love to see Halil behind Forss tonight.
Game on the Carabao website again?
