We should be going for a 433 but I can’t see how we can fit in both Toney and Maupay in a 433. I don’t think TF will leave Maupay out in his rich vein of form. Added the injury to JDS, I suspect until Wissa is back we will go with a 532 - same team as against City I am guessing.

I want Ajer in the side but again who do you leave out as I thought on the whole out back 5 had decent games on Monday. Mads was very impressive so for me he stays in.

Very tough, Maupay is scoring but would the team benefit more with KLP playing next to Ivan. I don't know, but otherwise the same as Monday night.

Tough to know which system to play. Understand playing 5 at the back in order to maintain two up top, but we've been uncharacteristically poor in a back five this season.

Would suggesting a generic 4-4-2 be considered stupid? Either that or a 3-5-2

I suspect it will be this. Keeps scoring Maupay in team and TF will expect the two wing backs to get high

532 Keeps the Toney Maupay partnership but having ajer and an attacking wingback in the side stops it being too defensive. Mee's done nothing wrong especially but I think his legs aren't what they were last season so it'd be good to rest him a bit and save him for the tougher teams. Plus Ajer can be a RB in a situational back 4 when the RWB goes forward

How about a 4312 formation with Damsgaard pushing on to support the forward 2. Only a suggestion to get away from the 532. I just can't see us playing our 433 system with injuries until Mbeumo is fit again.

It would be great to get some more creativity in midfield. Surely we see this game more winnable than Liverpool or City away, so still 352 but Damsgaard in for Janelt for me.

Damsgaard was muscled off the ball for much of the Cup replay, and Yarmoliuk looked stronger when he came on as sub. I hope the weather is better than at the replay, because if it had gone to pens I would have been a block of ice.

We need pace at the back as Wolves very fast in turnovers

No way that Maupay can be left out at the moment. We did as well as we could with the gap in quality between us and City. I'd expect same system and team, although personally I'd prefer Ajer to Collins.

Don’t we have to accept that muscle isn’t part of MDs game? We knew that when we bought him and we know it now. On that basis we wouldn’t play Phil Foden or Bernardo Silva.

Others are in for their muscle, but if we have all muscle and no ideas we won’t score enough to make up for the 2-3 goals a game we’re leaking.

Dear Thomas/Santa. Please don't play a back 3/5. It's getting tedious watching our opponents relentlessly, attacking, passing around the edge of our box lining up to shoot, whilst we hope to catchem on da break. Fatten up the midfield, keep the opposition away from our defence and give our attack some service/numbers.

We played 442 for the first half against Brighton, and looked very disjointed. Reverted to 433 at half time

Think the 3 we've been using in midfield aren't expansive enough and sit too deep (yes I know the calibre of oppo we've been facing lately).....as a consequence we default into the low block to manage games.

If we can't counter-attack due to a lack of (available) pace in the side we therefor need to take the game to them.

I would be inclined to play a back Four
The back three with NC doesn’t seem to work . We looked more solid last year with Mee and Ethan and now we have a recognised left back avail would either pack the middle or play KLP as part of a front three

We don’t have a right winger, unless he does something unexpected like play Toney there with Neal in the middle

I think if we do this with Ghoddos starting at RWB then he can invert in settled possession to play as an 8/10 in the front of a box/diamond midfield, like Rico Lewis or zinchenko when they invert and play in front of Rodri/Rice, or sort of like what Hickey was doing when he played at LB earlier this season. Sort of a hybrid or his Brentford and Iran roles.

This way he can be ready to recycle the ball or win the ball back on the edge of their box to stop turnovers/maybe score another worldie like at burnley. Think we'd get more use out of him there than pushing up into RW areas like a traditional wingback. And having him in the more advanced midfield areas can let Janelt sit deeper and help Nørgaard protect the backline

This is the only way I see a back 4 (or a pseudo back 4) working cos otherwise we're playing like a Maupay Toney KLP front 3 which doesn't get the best out of any of those 3 imo and leaves us with no attackers on the bench to bring on unless you count Ghoddos and Damsgaard

Hopefully. Defence and attack both significantly stronger and if Flekken carries on where he left off on Monday, it’s good reason to be optimistic.
