Team vs Coventry

Moore
Logan Dean Craig Bidwell
Forshaw Douglas Adeyemi Forrester
Donaldson Wright-Phillips

Subs: Gounet, Hodson, Diagouraga, Saunders, Dallas, German, El Alagui.

Best team, with the option of Harry pushing up front and going 4-3-3 if need be. Would rather see a rusty Farid on the bench than a sh*t Trotta. And definitely have Dallas as an option of width on that wide pitch.

Team vs Coventry

Need to fire the boys up so perhaps take a leaf out of Saracens books and bring in a couple of Wolves in the dressing room by way of motivation. Might get Trotta moving a bit quicker!!!

Lets hope this is the starting XI.

We knew Uwe would change it for MK, not for the better, but maybe niggles to players caused him to make the changes he did.

Back up on the train.......... Not early as you lot though! ;)

My GOD!!
You can't drop Douglas, it's the law.
Joking aside, I would have rested him a few times this season but I thought he was one who came out with credit from MK.
I like the idea of Harry in behind.

I'd go for:

------------------Moore

Logan------Dean-------Craig------Bidwell

Adeyemi--Douglas--Diagouraga

----------------Saunders---------Forrester

----------------Donaldson

Subs: Gounet, Pierre, Reeves, Forshaw, Dallas, Wright-Phillips, El Alagui (if not fit then German)

I'd go for a team which is based on what worked well in the diamond we've used at home (Saunders behind the striker), with the addition of an extra midfield player to give added width. I don't think playing 1 striker should be seen as a defensive move, but instead one that would allow us to control the game with 5 in midfield, hopefully with better play in the final third than in the MK Dons game. I'd name 2 strikers on the bench so we can change things if necessary.

We certainly will need width away from home on their pitch rather than the narrow diamond, and Forrester should offer us that down the left. I'd want Adeyemi to sit deeper on the opposite side and help with defensive work in the middle, but break forward and make runs down the right as he can.

Saunders to play in the number 10 role behind Donaldson (our best lone striker). I can't find room in the side for Forshaw, as I'd want to have the power of Adeyemi, Douglas and Diagouraga in midfield, while Saunders is more of a game-changer and Forrester gives us genuine width.

Hopefully El Alagui will be fit enough to be a sub, and if not then I'd give German another chance. Regarding Trotta, I don't think he deserves any personal abuse, as playing so poorly as he did on Monday suggests that it's a psychological problem as much as anything. It wasn't just a work-rate thing, his whole game was off and I'm sure he didn't come into the game wanting to give such a bad performance. Having said that, we can't afford to have players who aren't in the right state of mind to play in our squad when this game is so important. Hopefully being left out all together will help him to re-focus and respond in the right manner, so he can play a part as we know he can.

It's not a comment on Douglas' performances which have generally been outstanding but I've decided to rest him for one match only. Uwe was pushing Douglas up into an advanced position particularly in the first half at MK Dons presumably to support Trotta and provide something a bit more physical for their centre backs to think about. We have only scored more than two goals on three occasions in forty league matches which for me is an incredible statistic for a side in the top three. I don't buy into the '....someone is gonna get a real good hiding soon with the possession football we play'.....argument and why would we suppose that we're gonna be raining down goals in the final six games when we haven't exactly been doing it up until now. I can absolutely assure you that my suggested starting eleven will not be the one that starts at Coventry but it's different and has our two leading goal scorers playing in tandem. I prefer to see Harry playing higher up the field where he can hurt the opposition and draw the fouls.

These views are personal to me and almost certainly not those of anyone else at the Club but if I'm allowed to vote for Man of the Match (although I was criticised for doing that on here a couple of years back) then I see no reason why I can't have a view on the starting eleven.

So there

Lot of logic in your post abee, however without Douglas there's a glaring lack of experience. With two games walking a tightrope of a two match ban for one more booking resting him makes sense and Coventry should be winnable now their season over but it won't happen.

Exactly my team as well. Would have Hodson on bench instead of Pierre though

Team vs Coventry

Moore, Logan, Dean, Craig, Bidwell, Douglas, Adeymi (or Forshaw), Saunders (or Forrester), Diagouraga, Donaldson, Wright-Phillips. Any 11 to start from these 13.
I was planning a trip to the cathedrals first (seemed a good touristy thing to do), might just throw in a prayer or two for the right line-up and a good outcome.

Team vs Coventry

Moore

Logan Dean Craig Bidwell

Forshaw Douglas Dave Adeyemi Saunders

Donaldson

It's the only way to get Clayton off the wing
Would go with the above. Well balanced and allows Donaldson to play centrally, we need him to work hard as a lone striker and is the only forward in the squad who can provide that. Hope Uwe chooses to drop Forrester and opt for Saunders instead. Harry looked off the pace against MK, you can tell that he is lacking match fitness and hasn't played enough recently. A place for Dallas on the bench please and stick to 4-5-1.

Team vs Coventry

Their pitch is not very good for tippy tappy football, possibly two wide men to get in plenty of crosses, pity Farid maybe not ready as I think this would be right up his street. Has to be a shoot on sight policy as we know only too well what can happen on hard bobbly pitches, we should also get players to follow up shots on goal hopeing to pick up any rebounds. Simple.

I don't get the bit about avoiding yellow cards. We leave him out for 2 games so we don't risk him missing 2 games? If he plays and avoids a card against Coventry, there might just be a case for leaving him out at Crewe, but not for 2 games

I'd play
Moore
Logan Dean Craig Bidwelll
Adeyemi Douglas Diagouraga
Dallas Donaldson Forrester
Subs Gounet Hodson Saunders Forshaw Wright-Phillips, Reeves, Trotta [El-Alagui for Trotta if fit enough]

Sorry didn't make it clear, I wouldn't rest him but understand abee reasoning - rest him for the Cov game which on paper is easier on paper than the Sheff U game which he would be suspended for if he gets another booking before 14th April I believe. I think I'd rather have him against Pompey who are playing without fear and geting results now that they're doomed.

:imwith:

We need to win this game and this is our best team imo to do that, full of attacking intent - let's worry about us for a change, play to our strengths and not concern ourselves so much about the opposition.

I want the same team as won 3 on the bounce, i dont want it changed. We won those games because we virtually kept the same team.

Above in the Diamond with both Dallas and Harry literally waiting in the wings if we need to play with wide men. Sorry think Jake is struggling still and Hodson/Logan proved what capable full backs they were at Home to Chelski. Would like to see Farid and Kev on the bench as well as they add considerably to our options.

Team vs Coventry

Let's give whichever team is picked the best chance of winning by playing in our red and white stripes vs the sky blues and not the rediculous and disadvantageous all black away kit hopefully to be ditched next season.

I would agree, rest Douglas, one match only. Dallas on wing, too.[

When I look at the players in our squad it makes me think we should be top of this division. All we need is the strikers to take a " gamble", not try to walk the ball into the net. What amuses me is in the pre-match warm up nearly all the players are taking long range shots and some look very impressive, problem is once the match starts none of them want to have a go from long range ?.............Cov really is a must win game, we can rely on others slipping up.
