Team vs Forest

I'd go for:
Bentley
Dalsgaard Dean Barbet Henry
Woods Yennaris
Jota Sawyers Watkins
Vibe

Team vs Forest

Haven't seen last two games, so I would go for -
..............Bentley
Dalsgaard, Dean, Barbet, Henry
............McEachran
.........................Kamo
...............Sawyers
Jota........Vibe.........Watkins

Team vs Forest

Bentley
Dalsgaard Dean Barbet Henry
Woods McEachran
Jota Nico FloJo(Canos if fit)
Vibe

I would be happy with any CB pairing and think he'll probably go with Egan and Bjelland. Nico ahead of Sawyers to add a bit of tenacity high up the pitch to take some of the pressure off Josh and Ryan. I'm not even going to try to pick the bench.

Team vs Forest

I don't mind too much who is picked in midfield as long as it is balanced -- unlike last week (surprised DS hasn't received more flak for that). That means two from Woods, Mokotjo, McEachran and Yennaris, with Sawyers or Watkins in the forward position. As Mokotjo has had two hard games I would favour Woods plus McEachran for this game; if it were an away game I'd probably opt for Woods plus Yennaris. Sawyers deserves the more forward position at the moment, and Watkins could then play in one of the wide positions upfront. FloJo seems better coming on as an impact sub.

Agree with all of this but think Watkins might be tired from 120 mins on Tuesday night so think it will be:

Bentley
Dalsgaard Dean Bjelland Henry
Woods McEachran
Jota Sawyers Flojo
Vibe

Team vs Forest

Bento
Colo Ego (C) Bjello Rico
Josho Woodso
Joto Sawyo Cano/Wato
Vibo
Sub: Dano, Djalsgo, Nico, Barbo, Mojo, Maupo, Wato if Cano fito/Deano (offo)

Some tough calls...I enjoy watching Barbet but I think Dean and Bjelland are the better defenders. Sawyers gives us more balance in a midfield three (as compared to Josh M). Zoom Zoom looked dangerous midweek and deserves to keep his place. Plenty of attacking options from the bench though (Maupay/Watkins/Shaibu)

In my opinion the CB pairing for this game is a bit of a headache. Possibly an unpopular opinion excluding Dean here, but it's nearly mid-August, I'm sure he's made it clear to the club what his intentions are in regards to the contract we've offered him by now. If he doesn't want to sign, then why 'waste' any more time building our defence around him? Especially after being given captaincy last week too, I just feel that dropping Egan would only do harm to his confidence. Egan and Barbet is looking like it'll be our first choice CB pairing come September 1st, so in my opinion we should start bedding that in now to give them a run of games.

I'd also understand the argument for Egan - Bjelland again as per last Saturday, as I agree that as a partnership Egan - Barbet is probably our weakest currently, but then I also feel that's possibly why it needs to be worked on somewhat. Of course, there's also the argument that these kinds of things shouldn't be experimented with by the time the season has already started! Pretty much why it seems like a bit of a headache to me, I think there's a fair argument behind any combination of the 4.

Perhaps I'm being a little harsh on Dean, but this is just based on my outsiders view of the current situation. Of course only the club and Dean themselves will truly know the likelihood of him still being here come September 1st, but if both parties are pretty sure it's close to zero, then I see no better time to adjust to life without him than right now.

There seems to be a marked difference of opinion between those who favour Yennaris to partner Woods and those who favour McEachran. Seen mostly from my side of the water, I have to say I find McEachran consistently inconsistent: capable of excellence and defence-splitting passes, but too often failing to deliver. I suspect that Yennaris may yet be one of our most important players over the coming season.

I'm agnostic over the central defence pairing, on balance favouring Barbet to partner Dean over Bjelland or Egan, and suspect that Dalsgaard will get the nod over Colin at right back, though the latter is well up to the required standard. Vibe has the central striker position in his pocket for the time being, but he is facing a challenge from the two newbies, Watkins and Maupay, and things could change. When will Canos be ready to return? Where will Sawyers fit in? Will the head coach go for a rotational policy? A lot hangs on him making the right calls.

Smith said Canos is a doubt for Saturday but the plan is to get him back involved next week whether that's the Bristol city game or the Ipswich game.

Think we should start with mainly Championship experience and bring on new players slowly, apart from Watkins who looks the part already.
Bentley
Colin Dean Barbet Henry
Woods McEachran
Jota Sawyers Watkins
Vibe

Dean and Barbet did well towards the end of last season, and last week was hardly a good advert for Egan so I would go with the former pair. As long as Woods is in the midfield and other two are not Josh and Kamo together, I don't really mind how the rest of the team lines up, though I would like to Sawyers involved.

I agree with your comment Mr Pigeons but would replace Josh with Nico. He and Woods played really well together in the last quarter of last season until Woods got injured.

Have a sneaking suspicion that we may see Sergi back for this one.

Go with that, maybe Egan for HD if he is likely to be off.

No Dean or Jota and Canos is injured. Magic you are clearly mad.

Personally v much hope Nico starts; looked a different team the mo he came on at Bramall Lane.

The WCMB is on its way and much looking forward to the first game of the Season at Home.

Change Watkins for Flojo. From what I've seen in the pre season and early game Watkins is more of a goal threat than Flojo. Flojo to come on late in the game , fresh, fast legs

Yep agree 100% I hope he starts too. The problem is who does Dean leave out! You in your normal seat on Saturday? If so see you then.

Haven't posted for donkeys but this looks like fun so thought I'd give it a go..

GK: Bentley - seen nothing so far from Daniels to suggest he'll oust him yet

DL: Henry - no brainer. Great to see Ilias doing so well though at Wimbledon.

DR: Colin - tricky one this but he's just SO good and I think we'll need Dalsgaard's more aggressive game against Bristol

DC: Dean and Barbet - easily best CB pairing at the moment

CM: Maceachran and Woods - really difficult one this, Mokotjo needs games but Josh has to start at home in what's likely to be an open game and you can't leave Woods out. Mokotjo may get in if Woods is having a baby I guess.. Yennaris likely to be needed for Bristol game and is he fit enough for 3 games in a week?

AM: Watkins: tough on sawyers but think we need to blood him in this role and best to do that at home I feel

LW: Flojo - Canos not likely to be fit but flojo deserves a run anyway. Helped turn the Wimbledon game when he came on as was so quick and direct.

RW: Jota - who else??

A: Vibe - he's the man in the box seat and important part of the way we play..

Subs: Daniels, Dalsgaard, Egan, Mokotjo, Maupay, (Canos or Clarke?), Sawyers

Ah, no Nico - sh*t this is difficult!!
