Team vs Leeds

We are finding it difficult playing our usual aggressive game with all the injuries and fatigue.

With the players we have fit and in form and the fact we have a very tough test away to Leeds I would opt for a change in system.

Would be extremely surprised if there were any change to our system, Benrahma back plus Ollie hopefully available

McLeod and Judge back to the bench with Kamo in for the former and Benrahma for Judge, Ollie to start over Sergi although that can go either way.

Sawyers something of an enigma at present, flashes of sublime skills interspersed with sloppy mistakes is this a game to have a midfield 3 of Kamo, Josh and Nico??

Having Sawyers gives us a get out if Josh is mobbed. I don't think those three would stop the opposition either. I want Kamo's work rate and clever passing, but Nico's terrier approach maybe better. The frustration is what Nico adds with his pressing and tackling he then loses through loose passing.

We arent going to change our system but wouldnt be surprised to see Odubajo for Barbet to give us more pace even though he is right footed, Mokotjo for MacLeod. Assuming Ollie not fit then front three of Canos Maupay and Benhrama. Maybe useful to use Watkins from bench if he is fit enough to play 30 minutes or so.

Spot on IMHO cant have the same midfield 3 as tonight or we will get exposed a la Derby. Hopefully we can negate their press by using the channels and actually looking to get the ball into the box quickly not simply going sideways.

Although Canos had one of his better games yesterday so may deserve to start.

True, he's not my first choice, but he's the only left-footed defender we have available at the moment who can play in that position. I'd be cautious about bloodying Sorensen at LB against high flying Leeds. Not sure if Jeanvier can play there.

I'd keep him in. He's done OK generally. More risky to drop him.
We should hopefully have Rico back at some point in the near future to improve things.

I don't care who plays as long as we beat Leeds and trust in DS to pick the best team with all the data and nouse available to him. Thankfully Said will be available and hopefully Watkins recovered at least enough to come in off the bench and kill the game off. Let's get our revenge for that injury time loss last year!

I doubt if Clarke will even be on the bench. not sure Moses is up to a start yet but can’t be far off. Looking forward to seeing him back in the starting eleven. Wouldn’t mess with back four for away at Leeds though tbh..

Kamo needed for this one, toss up between Sawyers and MacLeod who he replaces. At least one of the full backs could use a rest and Odubajo has had a few minutes now. I’d put Bentley back in because playing out quickly from the back is going to be far more important here than in any other game this season, and we all know it’s gonna happen sooner or later anyway. Benrahma and Watkins both have the potential to be unplayable and should go straight back in.

I'm probably wrong about Daniels not being selected..... But IMHO Bentley is a class distributor. Against Brum, Daniels had a good, solid match in goal, making a couple of decent saves. But he is only capable of throwing/passing the ball to the first defender. Bentley starts far more attacks off with long, accurate throws. Part of our problem against Brum was the painfully slow build up play - passing along the back forever.... players sitting too deep and not being direct enough in their play. Bentley forces the forward attacking movement with positive distribution. I think it is much needed.

But hey, what do I know, I know most on here completely disagree.

ooooh someone who agrees with me on Bentley. Glad you exist, sir! We were soooo slow against Brum. We need to be quicker, more direct, and scare defenders with players running at them. Not the laboured horizontal passing we saw on Tuesday.

All of that is true.........................but you can't put that all down to Daniels instead of Bentley surely!
(personally I don't think it made much difference at all)

Let's admit it, we ALL want Bentley back in for Daniels, he's clearly the more talented. With the caveat he MUST cut out these awful, awful blunders that have gifted too many opposition goals already this season.

Dunno.
Completely undecided.
I'd be with you on thinking Bentley is better (not really seen enough of Daniels to make a proper judgement so more based on Bentley usually being good).
However, Daniels did well, and perhaps it's best to play him until he has a bad game, and then give Bentley his shot again.
Don't think he did much wrong in the last game.

(and having just looked at the earlier posts it looks like more people have chosen Daniels than Bentley)

He made a great throw out to Macleod (bypassing the first defender) from which he and Sergi broke forward, losing the ball in the end. It could have been good...

I don’t want him back in. Daniels came in and had a good game, would send out the wrong message to drop him now.

That was more to do with the lack of movement from our advanced midfielders and attacking players than anything else. Brum sat back and flooded midfield and only pressed when our full backs had the ball. With our midfielders being so static it meant options to play out quickly were v limited.
